A New Week!

Monday, August 08, 2011

Usually Sunday is my day to set goals for the upcoming week. Yesterday was so out of kilter, though. From the looks of it, so will all week be. Hubby is in the midst of his AT (annual training, army speak) and his schedule is erractic. My animals are even off schedule.

What to do? Main meals earlier in the day. Desserts for an anytime supper. (anyone who knows me knows that could be a whole grain waffle with berries and nuts). Try to sleep.

good idea to set goals you can attain. keep up the good work. you're doing great! army life isn't easy under the best of circumstances (retired AF here) but training days and TDYs are the PITTS. just do what you can to keep on track and know that you will get where you what to be by putting on foot in front of the other and taking it one day at a time. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Goodbye July

Sunday, July 31, 2011

The month started off great. I was on track with goals, learning new exercises, and staying very close to my nutrient plan. Then the fibro monster hit. I got off track. I got back on trackfor several days once he backed off. I should have known better - don't over-do. But I didn't so I did. It wasn't even strenous exercise - just lots of moving and dancing as I was able to catch up on some much needed housework. Of course that led to another flare.

It got me down but so many Sparklers contacted me with understanding, reassurance and encouragement. SP has incredible members.

I'm due to start a new challenge tomorrow. It is going to be good to start fresh in a new week, a new month. I will look back only to remember not to repeat the same mistakes. I'm going to find a local Spark buddy to walk and talk with.

July, Good-bye.

(note: I plan to put a picture of the sun setting over the mountains this evening.)

Last July was so much fun for me. We went to CA for vacation and I walked on the beach and swam in a lake and just relaxed, had fun. This July was not fun, so I say farewell July. I hope August is better!

Gotta Smile!

Wednesday, July 27, 2011

The barnyard animals were going crazy from 2am on. My dogs stayed quiet, though. But then, they don't go after a pack (of coyotes) but will run off a soloist. This went on til daybreak. Finally my dogs went out, but quietly. I left the door open so they could come back in when they were ready. I heard something come in and thought nothing about it until a duck started quacking at me and running in circles. How a pekin managed to get out I don't know - they don't fly. Just the same, there it was in the middle of the parlor.

I had to smile.

It got back outside but ran around like crazy. I guess I could count running around trying to get it back into it's yard as some exercise. It's advised to break the (exercise) routine. I did.

Another smile.

I was more than awake so decided to get to town early. The sun was breaking over the plains. The earth seemed to glow. Everything was so fresh and new. An antelope appeared next to me and he ran just ahead of me for about 1/2 mile. Finally he gracefully lept over a barbed wire fence. Magnificent!

The contented smile stayed plastered on my face all the way to town.

God is good.

I love living in the county! Being a city girl from birth I never knew the country could be so beautiful or so noisy until I move to KY and now live in the Smokies. Your story just emphasizes how wonderful county life and life in general is! Please keep sharing! God is Good!

Your blog post made me laugh! I don't live on a farm, but in a rural community, and we have two hens. I can't imagine one of them ending up in the living room running around. Just the image makes me smile.

And your description of your early trip into town was beautiful. Thanks for sharing!

Beating the Heat

Wednesday, July 20, 2011

Yes! Outside chores: check! Animals happy: check! doggie fur-cut I've been putting off: check! dishes don: half a check. i'm not done making a mess!

Hydration throughout the day and a simple afternoon planned. Since I get up so early I get the indulgence of sleeping the afternoon away. Then on to evening chore and enjoying getting to watch the sun disappear over the moutains.

A strange way to burn calories?

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

It's just one of those weird mornings. I had to force myself to do chores instead of making up for the sleep I couldn't get. My mind just wasn't clear when I went out to feed the animals. A goat was missing and I am keenly aware that a wandering coyote's visits get closer and closer every day. So I decide to feed the others before going out to look for him. I open the feed bin and there is the missing kid, sleeping on top of the sweet feed. I wonder how many calories are burned when you get that kind of scare? (later I had eough presence of mind to wonder how he got there!)

the day has only begun.....
