A Great Ending to the Week

Saturday, January 19, 2013

The other day hubby had off to fix our water problem and I tagged along in the truck. I had him drop me off at Sears while he picked up the things he needed.

I found a beautiful blue sweater that I fell in love with. I'm not much for clothes shopping, but it was marked down and then had another sale price deducted at the register. The problem - there were only 2 left. One an XL and one a medium. Sometime in December I discovered I had lost enough weight and toned up enough to fit into a large.

I opted for the medium thinking it would fit in it in another couple of months. I will still get many wears out of it as the Colorado nights are cool, even in summer sometimes.

Getting the sweater was the beginning. I showed it to hubby telling him my options were to return it for the bigger one, return it for refund, or just keep it and work to fit into it. I told him I wanted to keep it.

Hubby "caught" me exercising the next morning. I hate when anyone sees me. I am not well balanced or coordinated. He made a comment, "I can tell that is harder than it looks." I felt so good that he noticed. He then agreed that I should keep the sweater. That shows he has faith in me.

Later I was counting my (1 quarter per 30 mins) exercise money. I told him I was no longer saving it for shoes in the spring, but for a fitbit. I told him a little about them and went on about my business. He popped into the room I was exercising in a little while later. He had been researching the fitbits. Not only that, he had bid on one for me. One with all the frills.

Later my dd was on the phone with me and I told her about it. She warned me not to be disappointed. Many people have bids and win at the last second. The countdown commenced while we chatted. I glanced down and told her I just might win, though I was trying to stay calm. We counted down the final seconds together. What a shriek I let out when I won! (I did have the sense to move the phone before I attempted to break her eardrum)

I am so excited about this. The earliest it will come is the 25th, the latest, they said, would be the 30th. It is going to be great starting February with it.

Yes, I am going to fit into that gorgeous blue sweater!

emoticon What a wonderful day and I love how supportive your family is! I hope you'll take pictures of the new sweater once you're in it which I'm sure won't be too long. You'll love your fitbit, I'm so happy you won the bid. So is the exercise money still going for new shoes then?

What a wonderful supportive family you have and so glad you won your fitbit. However I have not heard of that before so I will have to look on the internet to see what it is. :) Congratulations on getting the sweater and the fitbit. They're good incentives to work to obtain your goals. I just have a strong feeling you will accomplish all of them.

congratulations! I think you are going to like your fitbit. Mine has proved valuable. I will look at it and I will be inspired to get a little more activity in even if it's only marching or jogging in place for a few minutes

Today's Valentine Challenge/Gratitude

Thursday, January 17, 2013

The assignment today is to think about somebody, living or not, who has impacted me in a positive way during my life and write a note to them. Even if that person is living I do not (or probably won't be able) have to send the note, just acknowleged them and be aware of why they impacted me.

This is a very positive exercise. The more folks I think of the less bad comes to mind. I think this is something I will put on my goal list to do at least 1x per week.

Meanwhile, I cut out more flowers last night for my dream board. I think we get to go to town today so I'll drop by the dollar store for poster board. I also plan to get flowers for myself (yesterday's Valentine challenge). Some of the flowers in my bouquet will be dedicated to those who help make me a stronger, better person.

(((gentle hugs, friends))) Each one of you is a work of art!

What a great assignment you had today. I think it is an important thing to acknowledge those that have positively impacted our lives; far too often it is easier to get focused on those that had a negative impact.

What a beautiful idea of putting flowers in the background for your dream board!

I made my 1st dream board in my late 50's. I thought it was kinda silly but I was out of work and I thought why not. Mostly it was of me getting married again(I had been alone for 3 yrs) Needless to say I met my husband about a month later and we got married. So you never know..Even at my age! emoticon

Let me just say. THANK YOU! Your words are confirmation of what the Spirit has been preaching to me as of late, "practice the virtue of gratitude, not just once in a while but all day long. What a lovely jester to add flowers to your gratitude bouquet. It appears you are artistic. My own artistic talents bring me much joy.

15 Days In - Valentine Challenge

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

It's hard to believe that in a few short weeks how much better I feel about myself. Most of this challenge has been fun, but over the weekend the assignment was to work on forgiveness, starting with ourself. That was a toughie.

The reward: giving ourself flowers. We deserve it. I am not in town so have to wait a day or two before I can give myself mine. Meanwhile I am cutting out flowers from seed catalogs and magazines and making a background for my dream poster. Flowers to see everyday that remind me I am worthy of them!

My heart is lighter. Come Valentine's Day I am going to be a much more balanced person because I am taking the time to work on me in non-physical ways. The depression I fought for so long seems is lifting.
