6 more pounds to end of year goal!

It's not the healthiest way to lose weight. Being sick, that is. It is encouraging, though because too many times I've gained weight on meds.

I'm doing better. The foot isn't too swelled anymore so in a day or so I should be able to walk and dance. I miss my exercise!

...that Halloween be postponed til November 6th. Trick or treat? I heard it on the news.

Seriously, it bothers me that folks are off-kilter right after daylight savings begins. Especially that first Monday. Wonder if that effects how votes go.

On a personal note, I was at the doc's yesterday. Weight jumped down 3 lbs since the weekend. Likely cause of the gain was probably sodium. I have to keep monitoring everything - what goes in & out and when; tracking sodium and some other nutrients. Thanks for all your support during that scare. Oh yeah, I have a mild diuretic to take as well.

    they just want to control everything.
I take Lasix everyday because of fluid retention. If I forget there's about 3 lbs more to my weight each day I forget.
Sodium is also hard on the heart. That was the one thing they stressed to my brother was watch sodium after he had his quadruple bypass three years ago. So he watches sodium on labels like a hawk - seriously he compares the meats in the meat dept because of the sodium content. Read the labels on everything.

weight gain

I'm doing good, exercise and healthy diet. The scale continues to show higher numbers just the same. I wasn't too concerned when it crept to 3. It happens.

At four I was getting a little concerned. I attributed it to the sweats and socks I was wearing. The bathroom is much too cold in the morning to weigh in with skimpy clothing on. Not to mention doing new exercises involving previously underused muscles. Ok, that could account for a bit.

6 lbs up. This is concerning. Was it the meds I took? Did I remember to take my slippers off when I weighed? (every ounce counts, ha ha) I feel bloated and things aren't fitting right.

Yes I'm counting my veg and fruits. Yes I'm getting adequate fiber and plenty of water. Yes I'm in calorie range. Yes, I stay active every waking hour. I walk in place doing dishes for crying out loud. I even find myself mindlessly doing knee-ups when the political commercials come on.

Seasonal storage. I truly believe our bodies are designed so we store up for winter like any other animal. That, to me, would be refusal to let go of the weight, not gain.

Granted, I was off track for a few weeks but not overly so. I can see a few pounds to maybe 4.

Yesterday I showed a gain of 9 lbs, today it hit 10. Alarms are sounding.

This has not happened over several weeks. This is in about 2. I'm going to monitor. Come Tues I will get an official weigh and consultation with my doc.

***I will continue in healthy ways, even during this glitch***

    I ALWAYS lose easily during winter but much harder during summer.

Usually when the weight goes up it's b/c of the starches, sodium or new exercise routine.

    That is concerning! Something isn't right somewhere it sounds like to me. If you think you might be retaining water, drink some green tea. I agree that in the winter and fall your body tends to want to hold on to fat. Glad you are going to the doctor Tues. If nothing else you know you are healthier and I'm proud of you for sticking with this no matter what!!

    I did the same thing when my thyroid went kaplowie..

glad you are checking with a doc...be sure to get your tsh tested.

won't go into long story..but was eating right..exercising & working as a waitress,,lots of steps a day...still gaining.. so ...it happens!

    I know your pain. Mine too started to go up. I changed some macros around based on Perfect Health Diet for weight loss, and it is moving in the right direction again!! Hope you find what works for you again!!

    I am glad to see you are going to the Doctor. Flucuation is normal. But that much when you are really trying isn't. If you are on a new med you can discuss this with the doctor. I would show him the weeks entries and logs of your food eaten. That way, he won't think you are really eating more than you are telling him.

    Check the hidden sodium in your food, Make sure your elimination system is working. Try weighing the clothing you wear when you weigh in and subtracting that, so you'll be able to approximate your weight. Weigh at the same time every day. I prefer first thing in the morning. Whew, that really sounded bossy, just meant them to be suggestions! Good luck!

    Weight is a funny thing. When I first started this,I couldn't understand, any of it. I wasn't over eating to start with. I was only eating 900 to1000 calories in a good day. I never ate breakfast and I hardly ever ate lunch. And I kept gaining. I did not understand, I needed to eat 1200 a day, I though that didn't make sense,until I understood my body was in starvation mode. I can still get on the scales in the morning and be down and latter get on them and be up......Water weight I guess.What keeps me going is I feel better and I can feel the changes,and when I measured myself I found inches gone. My stomach is getting smaller ,toning up maybe. And all my doctors scales weigh different, so I go by just mine.I have compared my scales with a lady's house I clean and ours weigh the same ,so I figured mine is right. Hang in there . You may get on there one day and drop allot. Ask you doctor about water gain. emoticon emoticon

    I would be alarmed as well. That is a lot of weight to suddenly put back on when you are exercising and eating in range. Something is up. You are smart to get that doctor's appointment and to continue with your healthy ways. I read in a dieting book recently by a girl who did WW and lost 200 lbs that asparagus is great for getting rid of the bloat...if it is truly bloat that is getting you (and it sounds like it could be since you're eating in range). It would be worth a shot. She did it at the end of her weight loss when she was taking off the final few pounds and it really did the trick. Wishing you well. Hope everything is okay. 539 days

According to my points page, that's how many days I've been active on SP. I have to ask myself, why, in that amount of time, am I not at my goal?

Honesty hurts. I let opportunity slip through my fingers. Nobody is going to be perfect every day or even every week. The info is here. There is so much support. There are fun things to do and recipes to make. The responsibility lies on me.

My goal for today is to start a brand new goal chart. A great big one. If I follow my menu plan it will be emoticon of my streak. I've done my minumum exercise but will add more when my workout video arrives in the mail.

* I am aware of my trigger points
* With this 539 day thing to spur me on I have a renewed resolve to get to my goal
* Support is here for the asking. I must ask more often
* I discovered that even when I was going on maintainance til a challenge started it was more than I could handle at this point. I didn't practice moderation.

I am not beating myself up. I am facing reality so that I can move forward with grace. This is my Independence Day!

    I hear ya. I have 400+ days and am still not at goal. I have even been within 4 pounds. I am 8 pounds from goal, and have been since I joined pretty much. I have weighed up to 4 lbs more than now too. So I joined the 5% challenge and hope to get there this time. I have looked at my year plus here as a way to have maintained tho!! Good luck to you and your renewed promises to yourself.
