Feeling Fit Friends challenge of the Week:

Make your food look wonderful. Garnish, add special touches. Take photos and blog so we can all enjoy the eye candy.

Our troops get little treats, too, in the form of MREs (meals, ready-to-eat). I don't think they get a toaster for this one, though. Maybe just letting it sit on the hood of a humveee

OK! TRUE STORY. WE WERE ONCE GOING CAMPING AND KNOWING THE KIDS WOULD BE HUNGRY WHEN WE GOT THERE AND NOT WANTING TO GIVE THEM JUNK FOOD, I READ AN ARTICLE ABOUT COOKING A CASSEROLE OF YOUR CAR ENGINE USING HEAVY DUTY TIN FOIL. I CHOSE SKINLESS CHICKEN (TO AVOID THE GREASE DRIPPING) WITH VEGGIES AND POTATOES. WHEN WE STOPPED FOR GAS, I FLIPPED IT OVER AND IT WAS VERY HOT! WHEN WE GOT TO THE CAMP GROUND, IT WAS COMPLETELY COOKED. WHO KNEW? I HAVEN'T DONE IT SINCE, BUT IT WAS FUN TO TRY.

Summer 5% Challenge Comes to an End

Friday, August 17, 2012

What a roller coaster over the course of this challenge. More than once I gained at least 2 lbs a week even though i was "being good". Yet, at the end of 8 weeks I am down 6 pounds. Condering I 'gained" at least 5, that's a great result.

emoticon emoticon The Firecracker Team was terrific. There are so many encouraging people who also share their stories, tips & tricks. I tip my heat to all the participants emoticon emoticon

I'm still concentrating on a record month to do my best the month of August and participating in the 100 day challenge. SP - thanks for the opportunities!

The Fantasy Me

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

I have this fantasy that the fat girl in the family Thanksgiving photos turns into the slim lady, makeup carefully done, feminine clothes, thicker hair a new shade. I'll want them to think my hubby has brought a new girl into the family. There will come a day he will - me!

Spark Coach, anyone?

Tuesday, August 14, 2012

The 2 week free trial offer was tempting but I wanted the timing to be right. I decided I'd start later in the week. Somehow, though I only answered a few questions I did enough to get myself signed up.

It looks like a great program from what I've seen. I had already done my exercise, tracking, etc. I looked over a workout that I will do in the morning. It's great you can just track it all at once.

Time will tell.

I paid for the 1 month and am waiting to see if I will continue. I like it and it is refreshing my start on Spark which I needed, but not sure where they will go from here. It is not too different from what we can get for free. But, I do lie the daily check ins and the visualizations.

back to reality

Monday, August 13, 2012

My scale says i gained 2 lbs on my mini-trip. i did eat lots of good-for-me food, but also ate out. At the places we went healthy choices were non-existent.

So today it's back on track for me. 85 days left in the hundred day challenge, 24 more in the August challenge, and only 4 left in the summer 5% challenge.

Exercise for today; 60 minutes plus 5 minutes of cool down
Calories and other nutrients; most in range (i track alot of things so it's rare to have a perfect day with everything. )
Energy; only a 3 of 5.
Pain level; 3 of 10

Boy, I understand what you mean. Even though you try to eat healthy on vacation you still can end up gaining some weight. It's very possible though that it's from sodium. I'm sure those 2 pounds will be gone in no time.

I am right there with ya

We just got back from vacation. I wasnt at the weight I wanted to be before we left, but I kept reminding myself of how far I have come from a year ago.

I decided not to stress over the food, or the exercise. Food being 80% of the game, I just tried to make healthy choices when I could. I also took food for breakfast (I intermittent fasted still a couple of mornings) We usually ate out lunch, I just tried to order as best as I could & avoided desserts, excess breads. Not many drinks but I had two. Supper I mostly cooked. Exercise, we did lots of walking and activities. So I was bummed that I wasnt where I wanted to be, but I still tried to just have a good time. And I did :)

End result? I gained 2.2 pounds but I didnt stress it. I didnt sleep well, and sleep is so important so I know that was part of it. I also had steak on Friday and Sunday, and while that is healthy enough, it stays in my system a bit longer.... This morning, 1.5 of it was already gone :)

Sometimes. the vacation food is much higher in sodium than what you would ordinarily eat. Those two pounds will probably melt away quickly!
