5 Miles with Leslie

Thursday, April 19, 2012

"Leslie Sansone Walk at Home: 5 miles"

It went great. Oh, I admit about mile 3 I was getting weak. I figured I'd do at least 4 of the 5. Before I knew it I was finishing mile 4. I was feeling better now than I did a mile ago! The goats were free-ranging so I had to keep my eye on them so they didn't get up into the road. That took my mind off what I was doing. I heard Leslie say we were halfway through mile 5! Of course I can do that last 6 minutes. So I did!

Of course walking in the charity walk will be straight walking. Doing this workout gave me confidence. I'm not the least bit nervous about the walk anymore. If I can do 5 miles while kicking, side-stepping and doing a little upper-body resistence training that event will be fun and maybe even easy!

Walking is so good, so glad to hear that you are doing it. It sounds like it is giving you some confidence too. Walking is my major exercise. I walk with my dog and we do probably 2-3 every day and then at work another 2 miles.
Great blog! emoticon

Mid-Week

Wednesday, April 18, 2012

Exercises are going well, as is the eating plan. The scale is still not cooperating though. I'm pushing forward no matter what it says.

My Leslie Sansone 5 mile dvd came. I'll work on that tomorrow since I already did another workout.

Getting healthier with exercise and good diet is the main thing. The weight is secondary and will happen. Keep up the good work!

Great attitude! I've used Leslie Sansone videos on youtube but haven't tried the 5 mile one yet. I actually like to view it on my laptop while I watch TV, makes the time go by quicker.

Have an awesome rest of the week:! emoticon

I love the workouts on DVD --- I have Netflix and I have a whole lot of them in my queue and work on a different one all the time .... only found one yoga that I could NOT for the life of me bend the way they did .... got rid of that one about 1/2 way through !! LOL Rod

That's the spirit. Sometimes the more I do, the more it doesnt cooperate. I chalk it up to muscles holding water for repair, etc. That's my story and I'm sticking to it :)

Determination - With a Buddy!

Monday, April 16, 2012

Hubby has been roughly following my plan. That is, he eats what I pack for his lunch and the dinners I prepare. Breakfast is usually on him which starts out with "meal in a mug" and then whatever he has at work. Last night he tells me he needs to lose 5# this week. He has a PT test at the end of the week.

My eyes roll. Yes, men can drop weight quickly, so he can do it. I'm cringing, though, because I know better than to attempt that. The upside: I have a diet and fitness buddy for a jumpstart week!

Tonight, after a nutricious, filling and low-cal dinner we're either going to walk or bike. Yeah! Not only a good workout, but a good training session for the charity walk that's only 12 days away. After that we're sitting down together to plan menus for the rest of the week!

I'm thriving on the urgency and intensity. Since the scale went up on me last weigh-in, I hope to show a 3# drop on Saturday.

Oh, I'm going to ignore that the scale said I gained another pound. Impossible.

Oh, I just love it when our husbands support us! Mine does me, and walks with me a lot! That is, until just recently, because it's planting time for the garden, so I've lost him for a while! That's OK, though, because I love those veggies he plants, and I have Rhetta to walk with me!

I hope you have a great week! I love the bright, lovely flowers on your page and profile!

it might be time to get you a new scale .... I did read one of the Spark articles about the "weight" of food ... heavier food (may not be that high in calories, etc) can make you heavier on the scale after you eat it ... I tried it when I ate some steak with DH ... yep, gained like 3 pounds ... I KNOW BETTER !!! that steak was only 6 ounces .... and surely not 10,000 calories !!! ah, but the scale seemed to have lost that weight after 2 days .... hmmmmmmmmm Keep on going strong just the way you are .... those muscles are getting really firm ... that could be a little bit of the weight !! So Much For the Scale

Saturday, April 14, 2012

I went out and bought a emoticon today. I'm not happy. I didn't want to weigh myself. It looks as if I've gained back what I lost last week. I don't really beleive I did - it's late in the day plus I had a huge container of water on the way home from town. emoticon

Next week I'm sure to show a drop in weight. This week I'll concentrate on the challenge of eating my freggies for points and exercising. However, a certain Latin phrase keeps running through my head.

Go with lots of green veggies and fruit.. They are high in nutrition, and will help ypu be healthier. All sclaes are different. Once you have an idea of what you weigh on this one you can use it to see what you've lost (or, heaven forbid, gained.) emoticon

the theory is to weigh at the same time on the same day of the week. I know a lot of people weigh daily, but with the fluctuation of hormones & so forth the gain can be or the loss can be...water!! Well we gotta have water to live..
What anyone else does is only a hint..what works for you is the best! If weighing daily keeps you on track then by golly that is the thing to do...but honey please do it in the AM not at nite when there is a days load of water on board!! emoticon
Thanks for your concern! I appreciated the note very much!
Now get out there & have a great day!!

I try to weigh first thing every morning (well, right after the very first thing) and I've learned not to worry about gain or loss until it lasts 3 days! I know once a week is recommended but if that day happens to be the day after I overdosed on sodium, I'm depressed for a whole week! You'll do fine!

Boy, Am I Ready for a Nice Sleep!

Friday, April 13, 2012

emoticon emoticon emoticon That's me today. A walking fool. Hubby and I decided to take the dogs to Fountain Creek Park. We walked quite a distance, but the poor little short-legged creatures weren't very fast or consistent.

Back in the car for them while we walked another trail. Most of the time I walk alone. Since it's only 2 weeks to the charity walk/race and both of us will walk together, I let hubby set the pace. Good Golly Miss Molly. He did not show me any mercy. I kept pace, but I felt like it was Day One all over again. We didn't quite cover the distance I usually do. That was fine. We got back to the car (where the dogs were passed out) and I still had plenty of energy, much to my amazement.

Good night, friends. If you don't hear from me tomorrow it might be because I am still sleeping!

Sounds like you had a good day and a good walk! Polly doesn't walk as far as she use to anymore but still goes pretty far for a puppy her age. Good luck on your charity walk! I'll be with you in my mind! emoticon

Haha I'm laughing about Good Golly Miss Molly...my mom's name was Amalia and everyone called her Molly. My youngest granddaughter (age 3) was named for her and my other grandmother Belle..so she is Amalia Belle and called Molly. I call her Miss Molly and always say that to her..you have brightened my day. Hugs. Barb
