Sometimes It's Minute-by-Minute

Wednesday, April 11, 2012

This morning I messed up right off the bat. I didn't even realize I had done it at first. Thinking I was way under for breakfast and wanting to get certain nutrients in before exercise, I forced myself to finish my meal. Normally I stop if I'm full, and save some for a snack. Not this time.

I felt a little weird when I exercised. I just couldn't seem to put effort into it. It was as if my body was fighting me.

When I went back to my tracker I saw my mistake. I had eaten enough calories for 2 meals. No wonder my body was acting out of sorts. Things happen, and it was still early, so I had all day to make up for it. Knowing I'd still want and need my mid-morning mini-meal I decided to just go as light as I could, still making careful choices.

That required re-working my day's menu plan. The more I worked on it, the more I was fighting the urge to just call it a bad day and raid the icebox. Make it a horrible day? No. I couldn't do that. It was a minute-by-minute battle.

What saved me? A spark angel. Of course she had no idea what was going on. She came by my page with a message about how struggles make us stronger as long as we don't give in.

I decided to make an elaborate, high nutrition but low cal lunch. Stir fry. I got out some of every veg in the house and begain chopping, slicing and dicing. It took me an almost an hour. I spiced it up as hot as my tongue would allow, put a hefty serving on my favorite 9" plate and indulged. I still have half left for later!

The battle was won!

Time for a Nap

Friday, April 06, 2012

I had such plans for the day, cleaning the trash that's blown into the yard. The wind swung open the gate, though, so I spent time chasing animals back into the pen. That worked out perfectly. The wind turned nasty so they were in in the nick of time.

Are you as tired of hearing about the wind as I am of hearing it?

Hope that nasty wind calms down for you soon! We are having more spring like conditions after being spoiled with record highs for several weeks! Kind of hard to get used to. Have a happy Easter!

It's Funny Now, but not when it happened.

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Yesterday I had to do lots of extra laundry due to a sick dog. I was getting things off the clothesline as soon as I could to make room for more. It was a gorgous day. Warm, sunny, and not wind but a beautiful breeze to soften and freshen things.

Some of that laundry included rags and old towels. Even a pair of old sweatpants I haven't been able to part with. They are worn so very soft on my skin. Anyone who has experienced fibro or a sunburn can relate to the comfort they provided.

Next thing I know I'm hearing strange sounds from one of the goats. At first I couldn't even tell where he was. You've probably guessed - he had been "helping" me take clothes off the line. In this case the pair of sweatpants was wrapped in between his horns and the legs were flopping over his eyes. He panicked and was running and bucking trying to free himself.

I got a break in my fitness routine, chasing him around the property to retrieve my pants. He outran me and made his way into a shed. By the time I caught up to him he was panting and looking wild eyed at me as if I had put him through this torment. There was no sign of the sweatpants.

At last I found the pants. That is, the new additon to the rag bag.

I knew it wasn't going to be a day I could map out.

hahaha That is funny now but at the time I'm sure you weren't too happy with him. :) I'm sorry about the loss of your favorite sweat pants though. Look at this way, you got some extra fitness minutes in chasing him around. :-D

sorry but that was funny and a good workout for you. Sorry about your favourite pants. At least it was something different in the form of exercise. Can't say that exercising bored you yesterday.

What Am I Thinking?

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

So much is going on all at once. Most of it is wonderful, but involves so much. My 5k is in a couple of days. While I'll still be training for the 5 mile, that will be one milestone I can check off the virtual list. That's a good thing.

It's spring so life is busy here on the hobby farm. I'm feeding a baby goat x2 a day, I've got gardens to prepare, fencing to put up, and inside and outside cleaning.

So what made me buy pullets and a couple of geese this morning? I'm not prepared. I will be in a few hours, but right now it's all overwhelming.

Did I mention my dog is sick and I'm doing lots of laundry and cleaning up after him? My list is made, but I think this is going to be one of those days that I just have to take as it comes.

I'm thankful for it all. I just have to learn organization to the next degree. Blogging helps me organize my thoughts. Thanks for listening to me "talk" it out!
