Wonky Scale

Thursday, March 08, 2012

My scale has been tucked away for months. When I got back on track I decided I would only weigh on doc appnts. I got curious though, because I feel lighter. The scale was wonky. It would let me put in my gender and height, but wouldn't let me weigh in.

I think (if I can fast and drive safely) I'll be having bloodwork done tomorrow. Maybe they'll have a scale. I will also measure tomorrow. I hate doing it, but seeing the blogs with before and after photos and stats has me thinking it is probably something I should do.

When I get the results of the bloodwork I'll also be able to update my stats here. I know it will be much better this time than last in the cholesterol department.

I love having my clothes feel loose! :-)
Congratulations!
I'm only weighing myself at dr appts...
I do measure myself every week or two, but I find it really subjective as I'm never sure if I'm measuring at exactly the same spots as last week... lol but I do look at my beginning measurements and my current measurements and see a beautiful change! :-) even if it's not exact.... because I can still see progress. But, again, nothing is as special as FEELING the results! :-)

Just get a tape measure and go by your measurements. Your blood work results will be a key indicator though about the health of your body. Don't always use weight as your primary indicator of success. You can be heavy, but yet your muscle to fat ratio is good, meaning your healthy and lean. Good luck with your numbers tomorrow.

Trust and pray your weight comes off. Dr. visits are good except for the scale. I go in Aug, though I had my bp checked in Feb after work. So no fasthing that long.
Trust you do good!

I really should do this, put away the scale. I'm not ready to do that and I can't explain why. I am proud of you.

Last month I went to the doctors. I was down 10 pounds, lab results great, took me off one of my medicines and I was on cloud 9.
This month, back up 10 pounds and I doubt my lab numbers would be anywhere as good.

I am excited for you to find out how your blood work will be, much better I am sure. As for feeling lighter, I think that is a great measure of success. Keep us posted on your progress, it is really motivating me. Hugs!!

I'm looking forward to my appointment for blood work, too. I have really been working hard not to have to take statin drugs, but if my numbers aren't better after all that, I'll have to. I hope your visit gives you a wonderful surprise! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hodge Podge Exercise Day

Saturday, March 03, 2012

Today, determined to get the full 60 minutes of exercise in, I did a little of this and a little of that.

It was a nice change and I feel great! I danced, did aerobics, did some strength training, and then (drum roll please) rode my bike! I had to tape a towel around the seat to get that bike ride in, but I did it!

Whoppidee-do-da!!!!!!

Way to go Dusty. Great progress on getting your 60 minutes of exercise in and on getting on your bike. I love to ride my bike. Before you know it you will be posting that you are now able to walk your first 10k. I am participating in the Monument 10k this year in Richmond -- it is on March 31st. At our YMCA, I am the coach for Monument 10k Training Team -- the Walkers. Good luck on your 5k's. emoticon

Exercise is like a Thermos

Friday, March 02, 2012

For those of us who remember when the Thermos bottles came tucked into our metal lunch boxes secured down with a metal do-hickey, you probably also remember being awed and puzzled how they worked. How could something keep your beverage cold and your soup hot? Just how did it know? emoticon

The same sort of wonder applies to me when it comes to exercise. When I exercise in the morning I get revved up. I become more alert. I get more things done during the day.

When I exercise late in the afternoon or take an evening walk it has the opposite effect. I get mellow. I have the energy to tidy the kitchen. By the time bedtime comes I don't feel exhausted, but tired in a good way.

My sleep has improved dramatically since starting the 5k/5 week walking challenge. I only wake up to do the necessary, then slip right back into a peaceful sleep. emoticon

Thermos, Exercise. They both make my life better!

Off I went....

Thursday, March 01, 2012

The morning was pretty mild because the wind had toned down to a stiff breeze. By the time I had all the animals fed, watered and cleaned up after it was edging it's way to the mid 40's. I walked to the mailbox to post some letters. I felt energized and just kept on walking.

I did a quick mile since I had a long, training walk yesterday. I concentrated on my posture and tried to add a little zip to my steps.

This unplanned walk was great. I didn't have my usual morning hunger. When I did get to lunch I was very satisfied with my portions. I didn't have a need for an afternoon nap, either. If you're familiar with fibro you know what a miracle this is.

I wasn't in the house long when I heard the wind begin to howl. The temp dropped into the low 30's and before I knew it the snow was being blown sideways from the north (it had been a southern breeze).

Sometimes impulses pay off!
