The Weekend Went So Quickly

Monday, February 06, 2012

Seems like the weekend was a blur. It sped by. That's what happens when I take things easy. Today I have a pile of dishes to take care of, tax forms to sort, and bills to pay. Life resumed!

I notice that time goes much faster as I age, so I need to try to enjoy each minute. Good luck with those chores, then take some time to smell the roses (or the snow flakes in your part of the country!) emoticon

The Morning Of

Sunday, February 05, 2012

Superbowl Sunday is finally here. Since it all began it's been about the commercials and the food as far as I am concerned.

I sent my granddaughter (13) a recipe for a pizza pinwheel made in a whole grain tortilla. I think that will be a winner. I should also send her a recipe that includes fruit. What a great opportunity to pass along some of the things I've learned since becoming a sparker.

Trust your recipe is a winner. Have a great day! I plan on being busy with knitting projects for my first grand daughter in May. So far a sweater almost done & then start a blanket. Enjoy the game and being a grand parent. Perahps some day I'll be sharing my recipes with my grand daughter!

What a lucky girl to have you for a grandma! I watch the Puppy Bowl instead of the Super Bowl!

Where did my walkway go?

Saturday, February 04, 2012

Earlier this week I burned calories shoveling the sand off my walkway, This time fierce winds have blown snow across it. I'm talking drifts between 4 and 6 feet. Yesterday I shoveled a path but you'd never know to look at it now. It's still blowing, so I might get two workouts in today!

Funny thing, the roads are clear! If the wind stops blowing I'll get to take a short bike ride and learn how to use the gears. I just love living in Colorado!

Amazing! We're not supposed to have that much, but I just looked out and it is snowing like mad! Take care out there!

February Heart Exercise - Shoveling Sand!

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

I live on the plains. Tumbleweeds, prairie grass and thorny plants thrive in the sand. It's a windy place too. There is so much sand covering my front walk from last night's wind that I will literally have to shovel it off. That ought to burn some calories and rev up my metabolism!

It would be great to be able to exercise barefoot in the sand, but it's much too cool for that. I am seriously considering putting a big deep box of sand in the house. I can set the laptop up on the bar and walk in place in the sand. There really is good in even the most annoying of life's little tricks! emoticon

What a great idea - I'd love to do that, but fear the cats would cry out in joy - NEW LITTER BOX! emoticon

Couple in their nineties

Are both having problems remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember ..
Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks.
'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?'
'Sure..'
'Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she asks.
'No, I can remember it..'
'Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to forget it?'
He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries.'
'I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?' she asks.
Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!'
Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, The old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs.. She stares at the plate for a moment.
'Where's my toast ?'

A man

Was telling his neighbor, 'I just bought a new hearing aid. It cost me four thousand dollars, but it's state of the art.. It's perfect.'
'Really,' answered the neighbor . 'What kind is it?'
' Twelve thirty..' emoticon

An 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.
A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.
A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, 'You're really doing great, aren't you?'
Morris replied, 'Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.''
The doctor said, 'I didn't say that.. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur; be careful.'

Keep the smile going!

LOL! The first one I'd heard and retold, but forgot (is this a senior moment?) the details... so I've made up the food items... but I think sometimes my hubby and I are getting close to this!

Thanks for the emoticon
