I have something I have to do on Thursday and know the computer 'sucks my time' - must stop procrastinating as this is important. Sorry if anyone misses me! I'll be back Friday! emoticon emoticon

I have to go for a job on Thursday as a Teaching Assistant. In the morning I go to the school and work with a group of year 5/6 children helping them with a task, then in turn we each take a group into the playground to work with them/teach them some sports/play activities we could do at lunchtime as the job is responsible for games at lunchtimes.

The successful candidates will be then given lunch and have an interview in the afternoon.
I need more preparation for that - just in case I am one of the successful ones! emoticon emoticon

Hence I must leave my computer till later on Thursday, wish me Luck though I won't read about it till then! emoticon emoticon emoticon Donna x


THURSDAY - Unfortunately I didn't even get interviewed but what an experience and what a lot of things I have to do now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! things i was leaving till after Thursday - very disappointed as it was a lovely school but there will be other opportunities I hope. emoticon

Just had feedback from the Head Teacher and there was nothing I did that made them not choose me but that others were better and the successful candidate was exactly what they wanted. I thanked her for the opportunity and told her that her school was really lovely.
I really am moving forward in a positive way and not turning to food to make me feel better. In this time I am SO LUCKY to have had the opportunity to try, we did well to get shortlisted in the first place.

Sharing this week's food challenges and my changes

On Tuesday night when I left my SW class with the Fast Forward red leaflet and advice from my consultant Nicola I felt like life was going to change. I had asked for help as I thought I had been following the SW plan but for the past two weeks I had put on weight and didn't know why!

Before I read the leaflet I didn't know by how much it was going to change but I was DETERMINED, I was going to DO IT!

However when I read the leaflet I thought 'OH NO', it does look as DIFFICULT as I had been TOLD and quite restrictive, but not impossible!

I wish I had read the leaflet more thoroughly before I went shopping on Wednesday morning as I wouldn't have bought as much 'free food'! I almost cried Wednesday evening when I realised how little I'd had all day compared with a normal SW day about how much food I had in the house and I COULDN'T EAT IT!

Surprisingly to me though I had eaten my 23 units and to be honest I wasn't hungry! My hands did feel drawn to the food cupboard and fridge to apples and yogurt but I didn't give in to it!

All I ate on my first day was: 2 slices of bread and 150g beans, 1 apple, 2 slices of bread and 2 egg omelette (no fat), 150g strawberries, 225g jacket potato with tunafish and 2 tblps sweetcorn, 1 fat free yoghurt, 1 apple

As I write this I have completed 5 days and have found there have been considerable changes. I was addicted to food I do admit!

I actually I no longer feel I have to eat something to keep me occupied!

I used to be naughty and eat between doing jobs around the house (apples or fat free yogs) but this week I have shown myself a drink is enough and food not needed.

Another bad habit was shopping when I may eat a piece of fruit between each shop and then maybe 2 or 3 apples as I unpacked the bags and put them away. This week I did have one apple while out but it was in my allowance SO DETERMINED was I.

I don't know if I am still thinking of food all the time but it doesn't feel as if its in charge of me anymore! I have never felt so IN CONTROL of food rather than the other way round long may it last!

Actually I have eaten more varied foods this week, I have eaten and enjoyed far more bread than before, some days 4 slices of wholemeal small bread, eg beans on toast and poached eggs on toast.

I am going to return to the usual red/green plan from Tuesday for a week, looking forward to more free foods but plan to eat in a more healthy way. Then do another week on the Fast Forward plan as they do encourage 2 weeks.

Looking back if anything I have actually felt hunger somedays, I never used to wait until I was hungry before I ate. I have also sat down to eat much more than usual.

I hope to continue these better habits, to plan food for the day to prevent 'gaps' which need to be filled. I have to stay busy and keep away from the fridge as much as possible and remember that I AM IN CHARGE OF THE FOOD NOT THE OTHER WAY ROUND!

    First of all....yay Donna !!! You've got this ! You are doing great with your new program. You should be proud of yourself & feel good about you doing well, being in control of your choices &feeling great !! Good for you ! I did not recognize the program though ...what is it ?     I'm not sure what your food plan is.. but I really like your insights. Getting off sugar really changes the cravings and for me helps me see things more clearly. Hurray for your week of success. emoticon

    Donna you have done really well,i do the extra easy plan and one of the things i missed most when i first started was bread,i allow myself 2 small slices of wholemeal a day usually counting them as syns as i like to have cereal for my healthy extra b choice.

    Donna you sound as if you've done very well and I sincerely hope you have a good result too.
I think sometimes some of us respond well to being 'told' what to eat rather than having a free reign that mean we can't always control our eating patterns.
Your volume of food is certainly not the huge portions that SW advocate and if I'm honest its that sort of amounts that helped me lose my weight and stay at target. If I start going outside those boundaries....I gain.

Of the foods you're given to eat, I can't eat almost ANY, so I can't relate but I do relate to making broad changes.

    Well done Donna - I think it is very easy to eat more than we need on the usual SW programme as there is so much free food. I suppose I eat less than some as I don't eat products with aspartame or other additives. So if I want a yogurt for example I have to syn them. I also try and eat all my foods within the mealtime. So I have my lunch followed by my fruit snack the same with dinner. Occasionally I do need a fruit snack in between meals but this is generally if I have been very active. I also do not eat after 8pm as this hinders my sleep.

It is strange that you are eating more bread - that is one of my downfall foods and if I want a good week I don't eat bread or if I do I will take 2 slices from the loaf and then put the rest in the freezer so I am not tempted.

I follow the EE plan I have not tried red or green do they give better results?

You will have to let us know how you get on

New Years Eve & NY Day blow out - IT HAS STOPPED NOW thanks guys!

Yesterday I got weighed and amazingly stayed the same from last week and I have had a couple of 'blow out' days over Christmas but kept it together most of the time in between.

Last night I drank and ate far more than normal and today am finding it very very difficult to stop eating things especially the sweet things.

Of course I am tired today as I didn't go to bed till 2.30am today so could use that as an excuse but I'm so much stronger than that at making good choices!

Hang in there Donna it will get better. I have so much to be thankful for! This is just two days and I have the rest of my life to feel good in.

My daughter is 12 now and so 'grown up' and very much 'I can do it' but yesterday she really made me smile.

I made a suggestion about something and she said 'thats a good idea!'

I said 'I do have one every now and then'

She said 'No you do have lots of good ideas but we only acknowledge them every now and then!'

Wonderful Wednesday Weigh In!

Okay so I have not had a good week healthwise, this has been a very bad cold. I have suffered so much, my nose keeps running and my forehead still really hurts.

On Friday I didn't go to work, only my second day off ill in 7 years and didn't feel like food at all - so my family really knew I was ill! emoticon Even by Monday I could still take or leave my food, I wasn't hungry at all. Really not like me.

However I went to my Slimming World class last night, only stayed for weigh in because I don't want to 'share' this cold and the scales were great?! I knew that I was in a much better shape, I could feel it but didn't expect to be so light - 6lbs off!! Lets hope I can maintain it this week.
Its not just the illness I have stuck to the SW principles and not done any comfort eating to make myself feel better so am really smiling! emoticon emoticon At last I am under 13 stones again, my bra and trousers fit better its great emoticon

    AMAZINGLY I ONLY PUT ON A 1LB - STILL DON'T KNOW HOW I LOST THE 6LBS.

My Hubbie also commented that I had done no exercise and still lost so its the food mostly isn't it! emoticon for all your support my dear friends.

    Dreading my weigh in tomorrow, I know I will have put on! I only lost so much last week because I was ill!

I am feeling much better now emoticon (though Time of Month has arrived as well). emoticon

Its also been my birthday so I have indulged myself a little! Not excessively but more than last week.

Back to first principles tomorrow whatever the scales say and try to keep smiling.
