Since coming home from church and then a "hefty" lunch, I am now contemplating the rest of the afternoon. The HAMMOCK is swaying in the breeze down by the pond and the day is absolutely glorious! Cooled off just enough...sunny and Autumnal-like. Then....there are our BICYCLES sitting in the garage calling out our names. It's natural for my brain to be screaming..."BUT, IT'S SUNDAY....A DAY OF REST!" Then, my hubs softly says..."You know, since your accident in May, we really haven't ridden the bicycles this season. I miss it!" Okay.....so.....I guess you all know where I'm heading in a minute...Art and I have a date....to go to the trail and ride about 12 miles. GUESS THAT WILL HELP OUT WITH THE HEFTY LUNCH WE ATE.....Took me a week to undo the Italian Cream Cake birthday damage from Bri's weekend visit and that was doing double-time on the "E". I don't know how people who don't watch and exercise do it day after day...weekend after weekend. Seriously....It is so hard when I overindulge to try just to stay even. HARD WORK! So, before eating that extra goodie....stop....think about it. I'm doing better in this area, but am not good at it either. The time between is getting wider, which is good......I'm not there yet, but the important thing is....We all have to do our best and keep trying to widen the gap......not our derrieres!!!! Off we go.......... Claiming next week...NO CHEAT EAT DAYS.....NONE>>>NADA>>>>Not weekdays....Not weekends....NO WAY.....Anyone want to join in this challenge????? XXOO Mary Ann

The vital connection between exercise, nutrition and health has become paramount in our society. With the rising percentage of people in the US getting more obese, I can't help but think that we are definitely not getting what we need eating the foods of choice. Therefore, for many years now I have taken vitamins religiously. In the words of Earl Mindell in his book "Shaping up with Vitamins", he states that "the plethora of information now available on the subject is so overwhelming that anyone trying to sort it out inevitably winds up more frustrated than informed." There is no such thing as an "average person". No one vitamin or exercise regimen fits all. I do know one thing. Age has not been a factor for me. I have known many people over the age of 60 that are in much better shape than a lot of 30 year olds. Personally, I give my vitamin regimen a lot of credit for my fitness level. I realize genes are, for the most part, the overlying factor in fitness and good health, but we all have to work at what works for our own individual bodies. I have been very careful to listen to my own body, reading and studying how eating the right food and nutrients can help shape it and make the engine work to optimal performance. God willing, I will continue a life of good health. So far, kids, it seems to be WORKING!!! Yeahhhhh! ANYWAY, if you don't take vitamins....you may want to do a little research for yourself and consider adding what you aren't getting. Just a thought......My best to you my sweeties. Have a glorious day!!!!!!!!!! XO Mary Ann

Okay....so I am making a promise not to brag too often about Haley's accomplishments. It's just that she is going to a new school and I have been quite anxious about it. I maintain and sane and calm around my family, but only you....my Sparkfriends....know the truth and whole truth!!!! I am THE MAD, INSANE GRANDMAMMA when it comes to her......INSIDE. Since I have been a coaches wife for over 38 years, I have watched many "CRAZY" parents and grandparents....all thinking that their kid is the greatest. But we all know, that most are not "all that". But mine is! hahaha....Just kiddin'. We think she is, but time will tell. It will depend on many variables....her GRADES ARE #1. She is required by all of us to maintain a high standard in academics. Other variables are interest in boys, getting along with others, maintaining her physical fitness among others. But for right now, she is RAAAAWWWWKKKKKING IT! And we are going to enjoy every excrutiating game! lol. My parents also go to most all of her games. She also plays basketball and volleyball. Because she is 12 and plays with mostly 14 yr olds, we thought that might give her more of a challenge. It probably will, but is definitely holding her own. She is 5'9" tall, wears a size 11 shoe, and pitches over 55 MPH. She is the starting pitcher on the new team and that surprised most and dismayed a few. But whether she sits the bench or starts, we have taught her the most important lesson....HOW TO WIN AND LOSE WITH GRACE! It's important that she remain SWEET & HUMBLE. The coaches can teach the rest and we will sit still, support the whole team and be thankful that she has the opportunity to participate! As her grandparents, we will do the same....but I hope you will indulge this Sparkler in her mad ravings occasionally. THANKS FOR THAT DEAR SPARKFRIENDS!....You can also do the same!!!! BRAG ON....I WON'T TELL A SINGLE SOUL! LOL.

God sent his Singers upon earth
With songs of sadness and of mirth,
That they might touch the hearts of men,
And bring them back to heaven again.
The first, a youth, with soul of fire
Held in his hand a golden lyre;
Through groves he wandered, and by streams,
Playing the music of our dreams.
The second, with a bearded face,
Stood singing in the market place,
And stirred with accents deep and loud
The hearts of all the listening crowd.
A gray, old man, the third and last,
Sang in cathedrals dim and vast,
While the majestic organ rolled
Contrition from its mouths of gold.
And those who heard the Singers three
Disputed which the best might be;
For still their music seemed to start
Discordant echoes in each heart.
But the great Master said, "I see
No best in kide, but in degree.
I gave a various gift to each,
To charm, to strengthen, and to teach.
"These are the three great chords of might
And he whose ear is tuned aright
Will hear no discord in the three,
But the most perfect harmony."
We are all so different, with different skills and talents....Wouldn't it be awesome if we could live and "sing" in perfect harmony as He wanted us to?! All we can do is keep trying to learn and accept one another....Love ya Sparkfriends! XO Mary Ann

Here I go! Starting a new week....The day looks the same.....GORGEOUS! I'm the same...well....the sugar headache will subside in a day or two. That stuff just does me in, but the little sugar fairy leads me astray now and again. If I could just do a little....Enough already!!! I am going looking for a new swimming pool for next Summer today. We had a huge one when my children were small with a diving board, sliding board...the works. After they grew up and moved away and I started to antique hunt for an online business, we had it covered up. When Hay was born, we put up an above ground one for her. Took that down....and now I'm ready to start all over on a bit smaller scale. A little kidney shaped one would look cool out back. I want to use the same beautiful flat rock that we did the waterfall to surround it as the edging. This DREAMER GIRL NEVER STOPS DREAMING, ya see. So.....the plan is in my head and, hopefully, we will get it done next Summer. This year we did the Geo Thermal system and put on a new roof........That's enough for now. I had a small "lull" when I had a car accident, but am totally ready to surge ahead. Have a great day, y'all and come visit when time permits. Company is all gone, food all devoured....I'll clean up and make the beds fresh for the next FANTASTIC, HONORED GUESTS! Mints anyone?
