FIT IN 400 Challenge

I started up a group challenge on dailymile.com here: www.dailymile.com/challenges/4428-fi

Basically, the challenge is to get fit in 2012 by fitting in 400 miles of running, walking, or run/walk. That's less than 8 miles per week, which I believe anyone is capable of if they stay consistent. And consistency is what gives us the results we want. I am decently consistent with working out, but I definitely need some support to help me stay consistent in my running.

Being in this 12 Days of Christmas Challenge on Facebook has kept me from getting lazy in my workouts as all the other craziness of the end of the semester and the holidays takes over much of my time. I usually slack majorly this time of year! I have been more consistent with working out on this challenge than I have any other time! It's because I know people are 'watching.' Whether anyone is really paying any attention to what I do or don't do isn't the point. But someone *might* be, and that's enough to get me off my lazy rump at night when I'd rather veg out in front of my computer screen.

So if you want some motivation and the added positive pressure of others being in the challenge with you, pulling for you and pushing you to reach your goal, then join the challenge and start posting your mileage January 1, 2012!

    I joined the challenge! I really like that website. My plan for 2012 was to take a year off from running though..but it will be fun to see how close to 400 I can get! I did about 250 this year. I love that you can connect it to Nike+!

    is it your little toe? i have broken those before and it only took a couple of weeks to heal enough to walk okay and not much longer to run, so you'd definitely be good to go! join up!

    Sounds like a great challenge. I would definitely be interested, if I hadn't just broken my toe:-( Walking is a little tough right now, so I'm mostly riding the bike. Not sure how long it is going to take to heal up. I would definitely be interested.

Christmas Challenge and P90X2

I am really enjoying the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge I am participating in on Facebook. It has been a lot of fun. I have found that I can hold a full plank for over 2 minutes (wonder how long I could hold one on my elbows - my wrist I injured as a teenager has been giving me fits lately!) and that I DO have time for *some* exercise everyday, even if it's not the full hour I feel like I *have* to do. I am bad about having that all or nothing attitude about exercise. I think it's my biggest stumbling block lately to running. I think, 'Well, I haven't run in a month and a half so I wouldn't make it two miles, so I won't go at all' or 'I'd have to walk some, and I'm not about to go for a run and have to *walk*!' So I sit on my rump and twiddle my thumbs. Anyway, I am up to day 5 on the challenge, and so far, the exercises have been: 1 plank for as long as you can hold, 2 sets of 10 inverted rows (although I have been doing 3 sets, because my arms are so weak!), 3 sets of 15 squats, and 4 sets of 12 pikes on a stability ball (the last set, I don't stop at 12; I go to failure). Each day, you tack on a new exercise, so the length of the workouts are growing. Thankfully, I am done with the college course I teach on Tuesday and Thursday nights, so I have a little more time on my hands. I think starting P90X2 while I'm on break might be wise so I can get into the habit of it before my chaotic work schedule starts back up. I am so afraid I am not going to have the stamina to keep up with the program and work 3 jobs. But I plan on making my two rest days the long days that I'll be at the college until 9 p.m. teaching. I'm just going to have to make it work. I am so going to be ready for the Warrior Dash in April!

Hope everyone is rockin' out their December, too. You won't see me having a pity party on here because I ate too much pie and gained weight. I am going to enjoy these holiday parties coming up (I've already been to one and have 4 more to go, not counting my own Christmas dinner at my house!!!) and keep on kicking tail with the workouts and drinking my Shakeology in the meantime :oD

12 Days of Christmas Challenge

I am taking the month of December off from teaching Zumba. It's been pretty low attendance anyway, so it's a good opportunity for a break from that. That doesn't mean that I am forgetting about exercise. I have been doing some Beachbody workouts in preparation for my P90X2 dvds to be coming in soon. Also, I just joined this fun workout challenge on Facebook called the 12 Days of Christmas: www.facebook.com/events/24643

Anyone can join it, so check it out and get your friends involved, too, so you'll have someone to help you stay accountable! There is absolutely no reason why you should gain weight this Christmas, even with having a few dinners and parties to go to. Don't make excuses. Just get up off your chair and exercise! :o)

ok, i will admit it: november sucked. i am posting this now to move this crappy month right on out of the way, because i am ready for a new start. i know i can do better than the seldom workouts i was doing. and NO running? wth is wrong with me these days?!

as for weight loss/maintenance, i did fine. although i indulged over the holidays and enjoyed myself, my measurements and the scale pretty much stayed the same, so at least i have that. as a little personal incentive for my health, i just purchased the p90x2 program on preorder. i am so excited for this to come out, so i will be increasing my workouts gradually in preparation for a round of that soon :)

i am loving my results from shakeology, part of the reason i think i didn't overdo it too much and gain this thanksgiving. i am on the 1st day of a shakeology 3 day cleanse right now, which is where you drink shakeology 3 times a day, eat fruit and drink green tea as snacks, and have a salad with grilled chicken for supper. i am cooking my chicken right now. i've been a little hungry today, but nothing crazy. this is the first time, though, that i've had my TOM and didn't feel 10 lbs of excess bloat! i feel like my regular size, instead, which made zumba but more enjoyable tonight! :oD will update ya when the cleanse is over on how it went.

Best wishes for getting back on track, Novermber was a bad month for me as well but in my case it is showing! : (

    You did better in Nov. than I have been lately. Nothing but gain over here (well, maintaining now, but not losing). It's overwhelming to have to start over, but that's what I have to do. Have a good Dec!

    I also preordered the P90X2 and can't wait for it - no worries December will be a good month! after all it has to be it is the last month of the year! just remember to take care of you and the rest will fall into place!

mid-month check in

so i have been slacking so far this month. don't know what has gotten in to me, but i haven't wanted to run at all. i have no excuse other than good ol laziness. gotta get back on track. now i don't have the holiday open house looming in front of me anymore, so i'm not working on wreaths and paintings every spare moment. hopefully i will be a little more motivated this last half of november. i will NOT come out of the holidays with bigger measurements and tight-fitting clothing this year!
