You CAN and you WILL do this. You have a strong support group at home and on Spark and the rest is putting your mind to it and moving! That bus is always waiting for you to get back on it you know!

Hey, Dragonbrau! I'm also a homebrewer, been brewing for 33 years. I've been working hard at losing weight but that means I have to cut way back on my beer consumption. I brewed last week totally sober throughout. It was a strange experience.

The ups and downs of my wieght loss journey

Monday, August 19, 2013

I started my journey about 11 weeks ago. Before that I hadnt really done much in intentional exercise in about 20 years and my body and health were paying the price.

As a family we eat fairly healthy but my quantity and times to eat were not. The past 11 weeks I have continued to see my wieght drop, some weeks just a little others a little more. I have really begun to learn when to eat and how much and when not to eat. I have been concnetrating on calorie counts and serving sizes in what I choose to eat. I have found that while I thought and ounce of chips didnt seem like a lot but after trying it a few times I have come to realize that it is just about the right amount. Next up will be other items on the nutrition label besides calorie and serving size.

I still have downs with pushing myself the extra push in my exercises. I am still finding excuses to not move to the next hight level. I just need to tell myself to try the next level, who knows it may be just a easy as the level I am on now.

I still tend to overendulge on some items on the weekends but have began to even think about those choices also. Little things like having a glass of water instead of getting that next beer while sitting by the fire are helping (my ankles are appreciating not being swollen also)

As I continue my journey I plan to get into a set routine for exercise ad I am routine orientated and think this will help me achieve my goals more effectively.

Watch out 2014 here comes the Clark from the early 90's!!! just with less hair on my head..lol

Sounds like you are on a good path. The "big" lesson learned I can pass along -- really become a fanatic on tracking your food intake. It will pay big dividends in the long run!

Your body will eventually adjust to a regular routine and that's when you'll have to step outside your comfort zone and go to the next level. Don't worry, we Spies will be there to encourage you emoticon

I just looked at your SparkPage and see 19 pounds in 3 months. That is fantastic. It also sounds like you are learning a lot along the way. It sounds like you are doing this along with your wife. My husband joined a little over a month ago. I love that we can do this together. Good luck with your continued success. emoticon

Even if the scale doesn't show it, the fact that you're making conscious choices and thinking about what you're doing IS a definite improvement! 2014 won't know what to make of you!

I walked till I dropped

Sunday, August 18, 2013

I had my first 30,000 step day yesterday, 30,175 total. I was determined from the beginning since I had 25,172 on Friday. Next up is a 35,000 day. I am thinking Labor day weekend for that one
