Can I get rid of this shoulder thing?

I've been to the gym two/three times a week for the last year, swimming gymming! At my last diabetic check I have lost 8kg over the last year. Now I have this pain across my shoulders and down my arms. The physio is working on it but it seems to be going on forever.

I try really hard not to let it get me down and I know it is minor compared to what some people live with . That doesn't make it better, it still hurts…

Eating toast...

Sitting here eating toast I am wondering why the NHS have reduced the number of visits to my local surgery for the dietician to six per year. This may cover the annual diabetic check! (just) but will not help those people like me who simply need the discipline of being weighed regularly by the same person on the same scales set up on the same floor. Maybe I should pay to join some profit making organisation to advise me on what to eat and when, take my car out and pay to park somewhere in town, or maybe not.

I know what I should be doing and what I should be eating and simply need some gentle encouragement to keep me on track.

Reading todays national newspaper I'm told that "obesity" is now a nationl epidemic and the government is considering taxing fatty and sugary foods to forcibly reduces our consumption. Have I got it all wrong? Rather than take responsibility for my own health maybe I shoud simpy sit back and wait for a piece of legislation to do it for me. Mind you I might be dead by then!

What is the world coming to...

    Totally agree with you.
Keep on doing it for yourself, the government's standards will subpar compared what you will hold yourself to.
Since you cannot visit the dietitian as often,and you want accountability, perhaps you could ask a friend to weigh in with you weekly .

Well so far so good this week, been swimming twice so far and done 18 lengths swimming 18 lengths walking and 4 more swimming for good measure. A fellow swimmer told me my stroke was very elegant! Thank you for that.

Busy week genrally, well by my standards, out monday night, Paul Carrack concert in Cambridge. Very good although quite middle aged but then I suppose we are!

Car to get new tyres fitted Tuesday, blooming pot hole they are costing a fortune and apparently we have more snow and ice on the way...

Joys of shopping yesterday, mums car boot has decided to to open after a month and now seems reluctant to stay closed, booked for a check up on Tuesday, the car that is.

Off for the weekend for a girlie spa weekend with friend who has just turned fifty. In the process of organising a lift as the car does not seem happy to be left in a hotel car park overnight, no doubt being unlocked would invalidate the insurance.

Never mind we'll have a good time I'm sure

Bought a float to practice front crawl legs and not therefore put too much strain on the wretched knee only to find that however hard I kick I don't seem to move anywhere!!

How does that work then?

Sorry world i've been forgetful about blogging... Never mind, carry on as if the distractions had not happened.

Still swimming, only been twice a week this week and last. Missed last Friday as spent the day being the "responsible adult" for my husband who had to undergo some checks at hospital, not sure which was more daunting for him the tests or me being a responsilbe adult! Had my hair cut on Wednesday this week and timewise could not fit in a swim before the cut and made an executive decision that the cut cost enough that I wasn't going swimming to ruin the blow dry!!!

Today is my Mum's birthday and we are taking her out for dinner tomorrow. My plan is to swim tomorrow morning. This week I'm doing 16 lengths swimming followed by 16 lengths walking and then 4 more swimming.

So glad it has stopped raining for a moment. Must go and make cakes for Mum's birthday.
