Advanced Setting Goals

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

I am still working through Brian Tracy's Goals! It is really fantastic for helping you set important goals in all aspects of your life and for learning to manage the goals!

I had a good walk today, and not too bad on the water (could be better), and now I am posting, so not TOO bad on the goals for do-over of week 1 of the jump start.

Thank you all for your encouragment!

Setting Goals and How Not to Totally Falling off the Wagon

Monday, January 25, 2010

I was interested in learning more about how to set goals. I stumbled upon Brian Tracy's book entitled Goals! It's a great help for exploring each of the areas of your life and setting goals. I highly recommend it, although I am only halfway through the book.

So, I started my program last Sunday (the week before 1/24). Perhaps it was a bad week to start. I had to take a day long bus ride to the main campus of my university, and I totally fell off program. I am so envious of those of you that can take a little stumble and not let it be the downfall of your program. I had a little stumble, and here almost a week later, I am finally getting around to being back on program. I need advice on how not to turn a minor stumble into a huge stumble.

So, I'm calling a do-over for week 1 of the 28-day jump start outlined in The Spark. Send me great advice so that I don't have to do week 1 over for a third time!

So what. It happened. Shake it off, and take your do over.
You know what Start at week two if that helps.
It is all okay if you start making good choices, that you can handle.
When you feel you are on course go back and do the first week if that makes it seem complete for you.
I am the toughest on myself. I demand progress and results. ( I should be kinder to me sometimes)
But this works for me.
You are in the drivers seat

Have you ever driven on a completely smooth road. NOPE, there are always bumps along the way and the main advice I can give you is to forgive yourself. It's ok to slip up a little and instead of saying Hey, I give up lets just run with this, say HEY, tomorrow is another day and I am going back to doing what's right. Then brush yourself off and jump right back on that bicycle!

What DRJJ said... just hang in there & keep picking yourself up. I take it steps further, even: don't let a month turn into a year! Or a year into a decade! The only thing that's not allowed (per my own tag line) is giving up on yourself. You can do this.

I haven't started the book's program yet, I'm still reading part I of The Spark. Look forward to getting where you are!

You just keep picking yourself up. Don't let a meal turn into a day. Don't let a day turn into a weekend. Don't let a weekend turn into a week. Set small goals. Try to stay positive. If I feel like I'm falling off the wagon, I get on SP and start reading the blogs. It really inspires you and you'll change your way of thinking in no time. Have a plan. Know what you're eating and when you're going to eat it. Have an exercise plan. Be sure to drink tons of water!! It's a lot to take in, I know. If it's too much, start small. :O) Hope it helps!

Hugs!

Kicking off my new lifestyle

Monday, January 18, 2010

So I'm very excited. I stumbled upon this website and the The Spark book a couple days ago. I have been looking for something to help me tackle my weight problem, and I am very impressed with what I have seen here so far.

My fastbreak goals are to:
1. Do 30 minute walks for 5 of the next seven days.
2. To drink 8 glasses of water every day.
3. To post something on this site everyday for the next seven days.

Today was a tough day. I did my walk this morning, but then I went to a MLK Jr Day luncheon and had too much wine. Wine is my downfall. But now I am back home catching up on my 8 glasses of water and posting on sparkpeople, so perhaps today wasn't a complete loss!

Great goals! Apparently I should have read this blog first instead of the other one. Hope I helped anyway. :P

I used to drink one Dr Pepper each day but I've cut it back to one a week and I really don't notice it. I still crave it, but I'm not crying myself to sleep each night because I didn't have it. You'll do great!

Water is a good remedy for overdoing it- keep on drinking water for sure and rememberif you have a high salt mal like chinese-- drink that extra water as well!

Nice to meet you. Your goals are right on for starting out. Check back often for support and fun. emoticon
BTW wine is my downfall too. Just add it in your tracker.

Remember to eat! If you starve yourself you are more likely to over do it and pig out on something not so great for you later on(at least I do) Try 4 small meals a day and the best advice I can give is to weigh and measure your food. I know I was eating enough for at least 2 people and maybe more some days but you can actually eat a lot if you eat only from the good foods!

I know how you feel. My big downfall is soda and I get quite carried away. But, just as PJOY17 said, if you avoid it for the rest of the week, s'all good. Oh, and welcome to Spark!

    HI Welcome to spark!
WE CAN DO THIS!
The day is not a loss, it is a day just one in your entire life. So you drank too much wine. Keep up your water intake and move your body and eat well, avoid wine for the rest of the week , it all evens out. Big hugs.
