Day 4

Thursday, June 07, 2012

Okay, so yesterday started out really great, until dinner time. I had finally figured out what I needed to do to get myself somewhat satisfied with the meals, and then we ran out of lettuce. I had my dinner planned out, but I wanted a little side salad to make up my calorie difference, so I went to Kroger. . . .big mistake. Coming in to the store, I ran into the most beautiful cherries one can imagine. One of my weaknesses when in season, and it was from a local distributor too! Anyway I bought them in the hopes that I would ration them out, in the appropriate portions, throughout the remainder of the week - sensible huh?! If it had only occurred that way. I did pick up lettuce, Almond milk, some tofu (for my daughter), and more tea. When I got home I said that I was going to taste "just 1", but of course, you know that had to be the best tasting cherry I've had in years. So I decided to get just a hand full, which was about 6, at first. By the time the night was over, I had eaten approximately 25 cherries!

Well, after beating myself up about it last night, I decided it was just a brief snag in the plan. I knew I could restart again in the morning. That's one of the things that I have truly learned from SparkPeople I've communicated with, one upset doesn't spoil the whole plan. You can start again. So today, as you will see, there are no cherries in the plan.

I had unexpected company drop by, so I didn't get out to the gym. I plan on getting some walking in today, if I'm lucky I'll make it to the gym. I have to get my plates renewed, and my license, so I'm being hopeful about the time it will take.

Here's my eats for today. This is my first time trying the Almond milk, but it was on sale, and I've been searching for alternatives to Lactaid milk since it still upsets my stomach.

Enjoy the cherries! If it comes out of the ground and isn't processed it's good for you!! Never beat yourself up over fruit. It's god given dessert!

I can think of lots worse things to overeat than cherries! emoticon At least they have nutritional value. emoticon Anyway, you've got the right attitude about it--not to beat up on yourself, but to just get back with the plan. Hope your day goes well.

Day 3

Wednesday, June 06, 2012

Well, yesterday went pretty well. The girls and I made it to the track and did a mile and a half brisk walk because it was getting quite late when we got out there. We didn't get a chance to walk the dogs because for some reason their leaches were missing.

I was so starving yesterday. So I decided to have a heavier lunch with foods that would break down slower over time, and sustain me through my work day. The calorie count is still the same though. I've decided to break up my breakfast a little by having my banana first, then my yogurt followed a little later by my toast and tea. This will help with my hypoglycemia, and my need to have 6 small meals throughout the day. I also added some rice with my salad and grilled chicken breast. I also broke my fruit up so I have a portion for my lunch, and a portion for my afternoon break. Hopefully, this will alleviate my hunger pains by 4pm.

Today I'm going solo to the gym to work on the cardio machines and hopefully get some steam in too. I'll let you know how it goes. I think the girls are going to take the dogs walking today.

Here's my new setup for breakfast and lunch today.

Day 2

Tuesday, June 05, 2012

Well, I'm feeling good going into day 2, but last night was rough. When I added up all the condiments and additives I added to my tea yesterday, I ended up not being able to have much by the time dinner rolled around. I had a very large salad with plenty of vegetables, but nothing else!

After dinner we all went to the high school track and jogged/walked around for 60 minutes. Even Hank came along, which made me very excited, because he is finally getting on board with my exercising. We stretched, and left for home, and then I got a major craving for potato chips. I couldn't believe it. . .the craving was sooo strong! I didn't even care about the pop, which by the way, it's day 4 without it (go me!!!). I ended up drinking some more water and reading some more of "The Giant Within" to quell the thoughts. Of all things, who thought it would be chips to almost bring me down?!

Yesterday, after getting home, the girls and I talked about the things that tricked us up that day, and what we were going to do about it. For me, I decided it would be to switch my sugar out for Stevia sweetener with 0 calories, and switch to light butter w/canola oil for my toast. I also decided that I would save my fruit for my afternoon snack, versus eating everything at lunch, which sets me up for temptation at my afternoon break.

Today we plan on walking at the park so the dogs can come along. Yesterday they were quite upset that they couldn't go with us yesterday. I actually had to chase Precious around outside to get her back in the house. She kept trying to get in the car. I think it's funny that they think that they know where I'm going by the shoes I put on. Gotta love them though.

Anyway, here's my breakfast and lunch for day 2.

Ok, Here I go. . .

Monday, June 04, 2012

Today is the beginning of my new program to eat much healthier, and decrease my need for quick fix items. I also am on day 3 of no Pepsi/Mountain Dew, so the posts may get a little crazier as the day progresses emoticon.

I've set some more goals to motivate myself, which I need. And I have also decided to post these goals, to not only make me aware of my commitment, but to also foster support and encouragement from my Spark Friends. emoticon Here they go:

1. Stick to this new meal prep plan. On Saturdays, cut up all fruits and veggies for the week's meals, and other items that can be prepared in advance.
2. Make my breakfast and lunch the "night before" so I'm not grabbing something and running out of the house.
3. Stick to the running program, and do a minimum of 3 days a week running.
4. Stick within the 1200 calorie range for 14 days, to see if this weight program's Quick Start will help me in losing a couple UNWANTED pounds.
5. Be ready for my Birthday Celebration Weekend, and proudly wear the outfits I bought for the occasion.
6. Don't pig out at my god-granddaughter's 3rd birthday. Only limit myself to things within my plan (it's June 9th).
7. Complete two 5Ks (1 in August & 1 in October). Michelle has already agreed to participate with me. . .I'm so thankful.
8. Start swim class this week in hopes of completing 1 of the items on my Healthy Bucket List, which is completing the 3Disciplines @Belle Isle in 2013.

I'm off to a good start, which I actually started a little early. I've taken a picture of my lunch and snack this morning. I'm excited because I'm not beginning this alone. My girls have decided that they will start it too! We all took our measurements yesterday evening, along with our weight, to see the progress after the initial 14 days. I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!

It's gone!

Friday, May 11, 2012

Yes, I can't believe it myself. Just when I was resigned to believe that it may never happen, I looked in the mirror this morning while preparing for the morning, and noticed it. A complete roll in my back was gone!!! I turned and looked again, and again, and flexed and looked again. Yes it was true, it was gone, like it had not been there for years shrinking but never quite disappearing. And I'm glad too. After doing 110 minutes of cardio the day before, and making a slow drag to my bed after taking some pain relievers for my thighs, I was beginning to believe that maybe my body won't reach the goals I have set for my 45th.

But this morning a glimmer of hope appeared. It knew that I needed it, especially after stepping on the scale and seeing no progress. It gave me more hope and motivation that this May Challenge is just want I needed to kick start my journey. Watch out world, I think it may be bikini time in July!!!!
