Well, I wish I could start off by saying that the weekend went really well, and that I stayed on track. Unfortunately, I can't say that and be truthful, and I feel I need to be truthful in my journey. I started out really well on Saturday, and matter of fact, it wasn't until late evening that I broke down and got a bag of potato chips. Erika and I got out early and did the track before the heat kicked in. We went by a fresh fruit stand, and I purchased some tomatoes and limes.
On Sunday I started out great too! By the time service was over, I was starving, so I stopped to pick something up, which didn't sit well with me. We went to the beach to get in the water and cool off, but before leaving I fixed some healthy snacks for us, which worked out well. By later that evening I had a craving for more potato chips, so I got some along with a pop! I had not only gotten the chips, but I broke my no pop streak of 8 days! The weather was so hot and water was not doing it for me.
After all those setbacks, I still got up with the thought today that it's not over!!! So, today is day 1 without pop or chips, and I'm on target with my eating plan, although I am not beginning at Day 1 again. Wish me continued success as I travel on this journey of health and activity for a lifetime.

Okay, I'm hyped because today is not only Friday, but the girls and I will be completing our first week of dieting together. I must admit it has been a struggle for me to commit to this 14-day 400 calories per meal diet, but I am seeing results. I can't wait to see what the measuring tape says on day 14, because the scale already shows pounds lost.
Even though I am making very healthy choices and planning out my meals ahead of time and in accordance with the guidelines, I am having a difficult time not being hungry all the time. I've broken my meals do so that I'm not feeling the hunger as much during the day, but in the evenings after working out, I'm starved! I know that 1200 calories a day is below the requirements for my height, but this is supposed to be a challenge for me, and after the 14 days, I am supposed to maintain my regular calorie range but with the choices/selections I've made during the challenge. My friend told me that I'm supposed to be hungry. He said that he has never heard of a diet where you're not hungry. I don't believe that myself, especially because that's not how I have done before, when I was successful.
Anyway, on a more positive note, the girls and I went walking last night for 1 hour. We even took the dogs with us to the park, but then took them back home when someone came with their hugh pitt bull. We then finished walking at the track. I had my daughter Erika take some pictures so that I could place a virtual walk with us in my next post. This weekend plans to be a busy one, so I'll bring you up to date on Monday. I hope to stay on track with my eating, as I have a lot of plans with friends this weekend.
As I've stated, I been pretty hungry lately, so by the time I took the picture this morning of my food, I had already eaten my breakfast . So here's my lunch and snack for the day. My breakfast was the same as yesterday, which was the cereal with almond milk, and a banana.

Okay, so yesterday started out really great, until dinner time. I had finally figured out what I needed to do to get myself somewhat satisfied with the meals, and then we ran out of lettuce. I had my dinner planned out, but I wanted a little side salad to make up my calorie difference, so I went to Kroger. . . .big mistake. Coming in to the store, I ran into the most beautiful cherries one can imagine. One of my weaknesses when in season, and it was from a local distributor too! Anyway I bought them in the hopes that I would ration them out, in the appropriate portions, throughout the remainder of the week - sensible huh?! If it had only occurred that way. I did pick up lettuce, Almond milk, some tofu (for my daughter), and more tea. When I got home I said that I was going to taste "just 1", but of course, you know that had to be the best tasting cherry I've had in years. So I decided to get just a hand full, which was about 6, at first. By the time the night was over, I had eaten approximately 25 cherries!
Well, after beating myself up about it last night, I decided it was just a brief snag in the plan. I knew I could restart again in the morning. That's one of the things that I have truly learned from SparkPeople I've communicated with, one upset doesn't spoil the whole plan. You can start again. So today, as you will see, there are no cherries in the plan.
I had unexpected company drop by, so I didn't get out to the gym. I plan on getting some walking in today, if I'm lucky I'll make it to the gym. I have to get my plates renewed, and my license, so I'm being hopeful about the time it will take.
Here's my eats for today. This is my first time trying the Almond milk, but it was on sale, and I've been searching for alternatives to Lactaid milk since it still upsets my stomach.

Well, I'm feeling good going into day 2, but last night was rough. When I added up all the condiments and additives I added to my tea yesterday, I ended up not being able to have much by the time dinner rolled around. I had a very large salad with plenty of vegetables, but nothing else!
After dinner we all went to the high school track and jogged/walked around for 60 minutes. Even Hank came along, which made me very excited, because he is finally getting on board with my exercising. We stretched, and left for home, and then I got a major craving for potato chips. I couldn't believe it. . .the craving was sooo strong! I didn't even care about the pop, which by the way, it's day 4 without it (go me!!!). I ended up drinking some more water and reading some more of "The Giant Within" to quell the thoughts. Of all things, who thought it would be chips to almost bring me down?!
Yesterday, after getting home, the girls and I talked about the things that tricked us up that day, and what we were going to do about it. For me, I decided it would be to switch my sugar out for Stevia sweetener with 0 calories, and switch to light butter w/canola oil for my toast. I also decided that I would save my fruit for my afternoon snack, versus eating everything at lunch, which sets me up for temptation at my afternoon break.
Today we plan on walking at the park so the dogs can come along. Yesterday they were quite upset that they couldn't go with us yesterday. I actually had to chase Precious around outside to get her back in the house. She kept trying to get in the car. I think it's funny that they think that they know where I'm going by the shoes I put on. Gotta love them though.
Anyway, here's my breakfast and lunch for day 2.
