Weigh In 12/31/2010

Friday, December 31, 2010

Hello there. So this is my last weigh in for the year. I started out this week at 173 and I was able to drop back down to 172.50 (1/2 lb. loss). I'll take it.

Going to the grocery store is pure temptation. All of the bad things are right up front and usually the items going for buy one get one free. I have the willpower to bypass them, but I would like to see more healthy things on sale and I wish Miami had more health food stores. I have to travel to the Kendall Whole Foods store to buy some things not offered at my local Publix. I buy grass fed beef, ground turkey (this is available at Publix) and ground buffalo for the kids. My kids are picky eaters so I am trying to make their staple items as healthy as possible. I do not feed them as much sugar that I had as a kid growing up.

Spark is helping me to understand the power of food and the effects it has on the body. I am learning so much by reading the articles and also by reading others blogs. By changing my eating habits, I am also looking at the food I feed my children.

Well that's it for now. Can't wait for school to start on Monday so I can go back to my normal exercise schedule. Planning a trip to Foot Works next week. Woo Hoo!!!! I am going to register for the Tropical 5K and check out the store for some new running gear. I need shoes and shorts.

Happy New Year to all and be safe.

Weigh In - Not as bad as I thought it would be

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Hello there. I usually do weigh in on Fridays, but I was out of town. My family spent Christmas in the Great Smoky Mountains. We live in Florida, and my mother -in -law wanted her grandchildren to have a white Christmas; and we did. We stayed in a hotel and had to eat out for every meal. I tried to eat healthy when I could....I was surrounded by cookies, chips, fast food restaurants and soda on the ride up to Tenn. from Miami and on the way back. My baby girl got a little sick on the way up and on the way home. She's a trooper though; just pop in a video and she is happy.

Last Friday, I weighed in at 172.5 and yesterday I weighed 173. I'll take the 1/2 lb. gain; I enjoyed every chip, cookie, ice cream cone, soda and even a little bacon. Well it's back to my usual eating habits now. On top of making a habit to eat better, I am also making an effort to get between 7 to 8 hours of sleep each night.

That's it for now. Santa left me a gift card in my stocking so I am going to treat myself to some new exercise gear.

Let's see what the scale says next week.

I gained a half-pound too, now at 171. Will work out more and run a little more. Glad you had a nice Christmas with your inlaws.

Hopefully Dora, your "usual" eating habits are healthy and you are not denying yourself basic nutrition in the name of losing weight.

I too had a wonderful Christmas holiday and my calories all totaled up was over 4k for the day. Not even enough to show on the scale.

My mantra for 2011 is "you can't get healthy by living unhealthy" i.e., dieting! ;-)

Weigh in

Sunday, December 19, 2010

Friday is my usual weigh in day. I have been super busy so I have not had a chance to blog yet. Last Friday my weight was 174 and this Friday it was 172.5. Yay!!! I lost 1.5 lbs.

I am exercising, but not as much as I would like due to the cold weather in Miami. I have a two year old at home with me all day so I have to think of her health as well. The indoor outlet mall is down the street from my house, and I would normally go but with the holidays in full season. I am staying away unless I need to buy something.

The main contributor to my consistent weight loss is due to me using the nutrition tracker faithfully by keeping my calories, fat, carbs, and protein in balance. In the past, I would usually go over eating too many carbs and protein, but lately it has been the opposite. Now whenever I substitute one food for another, I check to see if the calories, carbs, fat, and protein are similar in numbers so that everything will balance at the end of the day.

Now the real challenge will be making it through this week. Eating more holiday food that is rich in everything, but taste oh so good. Not sure if I will have access to a scale over the weekend so my weigh in day will be on Monday.

Well that's it for now. Enjoy the holidays and let's see what the scale says next week.

Friday 12/10 Weigh In

Friday, December 10, 2010

Hello there. So today is weigh in day. Last Friday, my weight was 177 and today it is 174. Yes, a 3 pound weight loss.

After last Friday's weigh in, I knew I had to make some changes. I was exercising consistently and eating healthy, but that was not enough. So I made some changes by changing up my exercise days, and I follow the nutrition tracker as closely as possible. There are some things I just won't eat so it is nice to be able to switch an entire meal out or just a fruit or vegetable.

The weather has gotten a little cold here in Miami so I have to slow down on exercising because I do not want my 2 year old to get sick. There is an indoor outlet mall that is about 10 minutes from my house that I will be heading over to walk around on cold days. I have been trying to finish up holiday shopping, prepare for Christmas out of town, and run errands for my husband. There is a lot going on and I aim for a minimum 30 minute walk on busy days. Well lots to do today I have a little more to do on my "honey do" list today.

Let's see what the scales says next week.

Bye for now.

Friday 12/3 Weigh In

Friday, December 03, 2010

Hello there. So here we are again; weigh in day. It is not a good one. I gained half a pound so I am now 177 lbs. I am doing plenty of exercises (videos, walks and occasional jogs) so I think my food intake is causing the stall.

I am not a huge fan of adding salt to food, but I do like sugar. I don't keep soda in the house for myself or the kids. Water and milk are our drinks of choice. Switched from white to wheat products years ago, but I can't let of of the occasional ice cream or cookies in the house for the kids.

Using the nutritional tracker has helped me to gain insight as to where I am going astray with my food intake. I am usually below on either the protein or fat intake. Carbohydrates is the area I go over in a day or two for the week. Well I guess I am going to have to try new foods to meet my nutritional needs.

That's it for now. I'm staying positive and let's see what the scales reads next week. Oh, before I forget. I am happy and sad at the same time; I am going to participate in another 5k on the 11th. Yay!!!! The sad part of it is my husband may need to work that day so I will have to walk and push the kids in the double stroller. Oh well, the next one I should be able to run is in January, the day before the ING marathon and half marathon here in Miami.

Bye for now.

That's it, stay positive! Good job on analyzing what you're doing and figuring out what's causing the stall. Keep staying positive and have a wonderful weekend!

I have had setbacks before and it discourages me. I feel like I have done something wrong and I did, but I never find out what I did wrong. I just go on the next day and watch more carefully what I eat. I am on a losing streak now and I'm lovin' it. I hope it doesn't stop.
Keep using the food tracker, it will help you. It always helps me. Also, don't forget your water intake.
