God has blessed me with another opportunity to correct the wrongs that I have done to His beautiful creation: ME!

    Way to go! This creation (me) is about to do some rennovating, too! As another blogger wrote in preparation for the fitness, "Bring on the pain!" I'm more like.. "bring on the slightly irksome short term discomfort," myself... but yeah. 2010 is your year! :D

STSF Challenge Goal

After reading Deondra's (D710DANCE) reflections of a challenge with the DONE Being the Fat Girl's team, I decided to join DONE! Now, I'm taking part in the Swimming Through Summer into Fall's team.

As a result, I have been given my first assignment. For week one I am to...

Establish One goal that I would like to accomplish by the end of the challenge. This goal should be lifestyle and fitness related, NOT a certain amount of weight I would like to lose. After identifying a goal, I am to think of two things I can start NOW to make my goal an achievement. Then I am to share my thoughts with my team, and post them in this blog.

Well the goal that I have set for myself is to become CONSISTENT. Consistency in healthy eating and regular exercise will result in me finally reaching ONEderland!

The two things that I can do NOW to make my goal an achievement are:
1. develop a fitness regimen consisting of both cardio and strength training
2. develop a meal plan that includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks.
(I will work on these tonight and place them in a blog tomorrow)

My first challenge has also been given. During this first week I am to...

As for strength training, I will be working on my own routine tonight and posting it tomorrow. It is a routine that I have used in the past with success...just wasn't consistent. Although I will be tweaking it a little.

This time...

...I will stay focused.
...I will plan my meals.
...I will plan my workouts.
...I will take my supplements.
...I will drink 2 liters of water daily.
...I will eat at least 5 fruits and veggies daily.
...I will get at least seven hours of sleep nightly.
...I will take my time and set small goals along the way.
...will be the time that I reach ONEderland because I'm worth it!

Mind
Well I think that I finally got my mind right. Normally after three weeks of eating healthy and exercising, I would find myself losing steam. I was cognizant of that fact this time around and made a conscience effort to stay the course. I remained mindful of everything that I placed in my mouth. I made sure not to deprive myself of anything I wanted within reason. The only time that I was tempted was this week because of TOM. I know that this is a lifestyle change and my efforts now are those that I must be able to continue for life. Got my mind right ya'll!

Mouth
This old mouth of mine has adapted to some changes 'round here. In the past if I had two glasses of water in a months time I was doing well. Now all I drink is water and 1% milk; this has been going on for the past three weeks now. I try to stay away from processed foods and eat more veggies, fruits and lean meats. As I mentioned above, because of TOM I've been tempted to eat a few sweets but nothing serious. I'm loving myself some LaraBars! They will be my new treat as one of my snacks with a glass of milk each day; I also love the fact that each bar counts as a fruit serving.

Each day I attempt to have two dairy servings, five fruit/veggie servings, lean meats and whole wheat items. I have a journal that I log my food in and check off the servings as I have them. At first I was having trouble meeting my minimum calories and didn't want to eat just anything to make up the difference. So teeth, tongue and lips I thank you from the bottom of my stomach.

Muscle
I have been movin' it to lose it this month. I set a goal to walk 45 miles this month and I've been successful...walked a total of 45.7 miles!!! I've even given the elliptical a try twice, this month. Each time I've remained on it for 35 minutes just doing it manually. I also had a few dates with Billy and his TAE-Bo crew. Each day when I go out for my walk it seems as if I'm going off to war because I have to strap on my Polar F6 HRM and my ipod nano and then I'm 'rit ta go. Muscles, bones and feet don't fail me now!

August has been a great month!!

    Girl,
I'm tryna be like you. You are really doing this thang!! I'm proud of you. This lets me know I need to set higher goals for myself. Thanks for letting us know that goals are attainable-if we stick to it and believe in our selves.
