It was great to get back to Curves this morning. Last week I was extremely busy and wasn't able to get as many sessions in as I would have liked.

Anyway once I was through I came home and changed clothes for my Mahjong game at 1;00 P.M. It was a five handed game so when the four played one sat out. It wasn't a good game because one of the women who just returned from Mexico played very slow . From now on we will only play four. Hopefully this snowbird will increase her speed.

Tonite I made salsa meatloaf and baked salad potatoes and a salad. I am getting hungry so I am going to go and make the salad.

The rest of the evening will be reading and TV watching.

Have you ever had a day that you never dressed and stayed in your PJ's all day. Well today was that day for me.

Breakfast was the last of the eggbeaters with lox from the freezer and leftover onion

Lunch was leftover tortillini soup from last night.

and dinner was lasagna from the freezer which I had made and froze many weeks before.

What a wonderful day it was.

This morning I got up at 4:30 a.m. and read several chapters of "The Last Song" It is a very good read. I believe it is now a movie which is showing in our local movie houses. I will not see it although I am interested in who played the characters in the book. I don't like seeing movies that have been made from books that I have read. My imagination is so much better than any directors and I have never found a movie that satisfied my expectations. I will finish the book tonite.

I went back to bed at about 7:00 a..m. and had my clock set for 8:30 a.m. When my alarm went off, I realized that it was not a good idea to go back to bed, so I dragged myself into the show, washed my hair and got dressed to go to services, since the choir sang and I promised the Rabbi I would sing for her welcoming service this morning.

The service went very well, we sang the music the Rabbi brought to rehearsal and the congregation loved the light, joyful renditions of prayers which had grown stale with time.

The luncheon, which we prepared Friday morning was served and was delicious. We gathered at a table for lunch and didn't leave until 1:30 p.m. We had a great discussion and no one had any plans so we talked and talked.

I came home and began reading again because the book become very interesting and was flowing nicely. In between reading I put on the soup I was making for dinner so it had time to simmer and the flavors had a chance to fuse. I got to the crying part and I stopped to serve dinner. A very good place to take a break since the book is getting intense.

I made a Very East Rich Tomato Tortellini Soup. You can find the recipe in my cookbook. It is wonderful, although my DH didn't care for it. So I will eat the rest of it and make him other things to eat. It is only 2 pts per serving.

So tonite we will watch HBO's film of Jack Kekorian. It should be excellent and HBO won't let us tape this movie.

I'm going back to my book and calling it a night.

Thanks for sharing. Once I get up, I don't go back to bed so I don't feel groggy all day. Have a good week!

Friday, April 23, 2010

I am just exhausted and I am going to crawl into bed very shortly.

I got up early this morning and went to temple to help get the food ready for tonites dinner for the synagogue's welcome dinner for the Rabbi and tomorrow luncheon after services also in her honor.

So I came in and helped peel eggs for tomorrows egg salad, cut veggies for tomorrow's salad, cleaned all the portobello mushrooms gills and cut off their stems (which ruined my fingernails and permanently dyed them dirty brown .and cut up fruit for tonites dessert table after services. Got there at 9 and left at noon. Standing on my feet the entire time.

I stopped and picked up some mahjong jewelry for myself and my sister (gift when I see her in June) and came home.

I read a bit - started "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks. An easy read, haven't really gotten into it yet, so don't know if I will like it or not. Naturally I feel asleep reading and my dh woke me at 3:00 p.m.

I got dressed because I had to return to temple to help once again in the kitchen.

When I got there, we put butter on the table, made the salads, cut up the desserts we had baked and frozen last week and when time came served the food to our guests. The dinner was a great success and everyone loved the ambiance and the food.

I never realized how labor intensive a dinner like we had could be.

At services the choir sand and the Rabbi and the choir sounded great. A great joy was heard in the house of the Lord. Dessert was served after services and I stuck with fruit since I was nibbling all afternoon on the edges of the cut up bakery.

My dh just bid me a good night and I am following him very soon, as soon as I am through with SP, since I have to be at services at 9:30 a.m. and ready to sing at 10:00 a.m. .

This morning I went on a pre planned bus trip to downtown Milwaukee to see "The Dead Sea Scrolls" at the Milwaukee Public Museum. Our lecturer/scholar Jody Hirsch who is Director of Judaic Studies at the JCC lead the tour. There were 14 of us on the trip. It was so worth it. It was incredible. This exhibit consisted of a compilation of artifacts from the British Museum, Jordanian museum and Israeli museum and was entirely developed by our own Milwaukee Museum curator. Once this exhibit is over the items go back to their respective museums. This was a once in a lifetime exhibit. I bought a book which translates the Dead Sea Scrolls and will someday read it. It is a very thick book and will take many months of reading because it is academic and although interesting will not be a quick entertaining read.

I skipped Curves and my Weight Watchers meeting, but it was worth it.

We got back to the JCC in time for me to have a Fiber One Bar and finish my container of water and go to S's for my Thursday game of bridge. I came in second and won 75 cents. Woo Hoo. At least I got some hands

Tonite I went to a Sisterhood Scholarship meeting. I sit on that committee and we recommended that all three applicants receive $500.00 grants for their respective Jewish experiences.

I came home and got busy on SP and now will finish "The Assisi Underground" which I reviewed in last nights blog.

That would be a fascinating read all right! Lucky you to see the scrolls themselves!
You are luckier than me at bridge, I never get cards :( Just my bad luck.
Really nice day for you! Great to hear!
