Well everything went great last night.

We arrived at the dinner party only to find that my friend had an assortment of appetizers which included gaspacho soup, diet drinks (as well as wines) and roasted vegetables which were packed in olive oil. Those were the two things I ate. I did take the suggestion of one of my sparkfriends who told me eat 12 almonds before I left the house to curb my appetite. That worked by the way. I left the rest of the food alone. We had wonderful conversation prior to dinner and at 7:00 p.m. she called us into the dining room for dinner. The table was gleaming with all her good china, crystal and silverware. Her menu was buffet and consisted of green salad with peas and mint which gave it a wonderful flavor. standing prime rib which was made to perfection with all the fat cut off. Petite potatoes which were roasted cut in half and scored which were delicious. I had three of them, and as a side veggie, asparagus. All within WW points and I didn't go back for seconds. For dessert she had ice creams with toppings, fruit and she made shaum tortes as well as chocolates. I had a couple of shaum tortes with fruit. So it was a wonderful evening with lots of conversation and laughing.

At 9:30 p.m. we went to CEBJ for "Slichot" services. The study session was still in progress so we went into the sanctuary and although it was dark the eternal light was on and it was a peaceful beautiful place to sit and mediate and decompress. What a beautiful sanctuary is is. Although it is modern in nature and lots of glass and light woods it was very inviting and cozy. They did a beautiful job and the architect should be proud of his work.

Services were lovely and the guest Rabbi was enjoyable. Got home about midnight and finally went to bed at 3:00 a.m.

This afternoon we have a memorial service for my dh cousin's sister at the some of her son. We will go and pay our condolences to H and her family.

This evening for dinner I am making a new recipe, Beef and broccoli stirfry. One of my friends on SP turned me onto this new website called It has all these luscious recipes on it and as you can tell I love trying new recipes. Unfortunately for my dh he doesn't get repeats often enough for him. So he is always saying "remember when you made such and such, why don't we have that again."

So now I am going to get dress so we won't be late for the memorial service. Just got back from the memorial service which was lovely. A real tribute to a very nice lady. They served lunch, but we didn't stay, because I had already eaten lunch. Said our goodbyes and now we are home for the evening.

I get emails from I haven't tried any of the recipes yet. I am glad you had a lovely time. You should be proud of yourself! Wow, no seconds. Really, they aren't necessary when the first helping of food comes with love, caring and good company.

Today was a beautiful day in the neighborhood. The sun was shining and the day was warm.

I slept in this morning. I chose not to go to services this morning. We are attending late night services tonite. Services in preparation for the High Holy Days begin with "Slichot", which is traditionally held at midnight. The community event is being held tonite at 10:30 p.m. at a Reform synagogue who just completed their new addition. The new sanctuary will be open for services tonite and is sure to be crowded because everyone in the Jewish community will want to see it. It is supposed to be just beautiful.

We are invited to a dinner party and I have no idea what the menu will be. D's husband just mentioned to me that she is cooking one of her 12 course meals and I better come hungry. I have 10 points left and 35 extra points so I should do fine. I am drinking my water prior to going so I feel full. After dinner we are all going to services at CEBJ synagogue

That's it for now. I'll let you know how things went.

Just keep in mind to have little or half servings of different things and don't let the pressure get on with the "12 courses"...:)

Today was a beautiful day in Wisconsin. The sun was shining the weather was warm. I went golfing this morning with my girlfriends and since all 5 of us showed up, R and I went ahead of the 3 others. We are long hitters and golfed the course in 90 minutes. We didn't lunch with the others, R went to Aldi's and I went to TJ Maxx in Germantown. I bought individual guest soaps for D, when we go there for dinner tomorrow night. I was able to pick up pure vanilla extract, sea salt (for grinding), ginger spice and a beautiful decorator jar to be used to hold my liquid dish soap which will sit on my granite counter. I broke the other one last week.

I saw some beautiful outfits for winter, but because I was still to warm for golf and tired beside, I chose not to try anything on. I need to try on my winter wardrobe before I buy to see what I can get away with wearing and what is way too big on me.

I made a Triple chocolate cake in my ramekin that I bought a couple days ago. Their was a recipe on "Hungry Girl" for individual chocolate cakes for only 2 points and I bought the ingredients and it lived up to its expectation. I will be making it a lot.

Tonite we finished off the Keema and still have plenty of points for snacking tonite.

Food great, water drunk and exercise done.

I went early this morning to weigh in at WW and much to my dismay I gain .6 of a pound. My leader told me it was probably because I ramped up my exercise and my muscles are swollen. I shouldn't stop but I should continue to be consistent in my exercise and I will lose the weight. Just be patient. Some ladies who are on maintenance are having difficulty and so we talked about their issues and that related to my situation too. So it pays to talk it out at the meetings. You never know who is just sitting there and taking this in and getting a message. So I will be patient and let it come off. Tomorrow I am golfing so I will get some exercise in. Maybe in the p.m. I will go to the gym and get a little bit extra in before the weekend.

After WW we had our study group (without the Rabbi) and everyone was talking about President Obama's presentation before Congress last night. It was a heated discussion and many opinions were heard. Most agreed that the opponents of Obama should drop their attitudes and work together to get a health plan in acted.

I went to play bridge this afternoon and my cards shifted. I won. I opened one hand with 25 points and bid 5 hearts. My partner made it. We weren't vulnerable so we only made 450 points. We play duplicate with the boxes, not party bridge. For those of you who play duplicate, you will know what I am talking about. For those of you don't just suffice it to say, it was a good hand and we bid correctly.

Tonite I made a recipe that was a Sparklers submission. It was "Keema" which is a hamburger casserole. It seemed to me to be East Indian origin because of the Turmeric, curry and ginger. I served it over brown rice and it was great. DH like the taste and I marked it down as a "Make again".

So food was great, water drunk and planning on finishing up the Paplagel. Oh I did ask my WW leader how many points is Paplagel and she said 0 points so we can eat it as a filling food. What a wonderful thing that is. I will continue to make it as long as I can get eggplant in the store.

You feel great, your clothes are looser and your heart is fuller. Your in a win-win situation! Just keep up the good work and your body will keep giving you presents. Eventually, you will see the numbers go down on the scale. emoticon

This morning I got on the scale again and found that my weight had stayed the same. So I decided that I needed to ramp up my exercise because a golf game three times a week wasn't doing it for me. So I got dressed and went to the gym and did 15 minutes of walk/jog on the treadmill and 15 minutes of the stationary bike and 5 minutes of cooldown. I was exhausted by then. I have never walk/jog before and found that I like that. So I am going to do that in the future.

I then went to Bayshore since Boston Store was having a value sale on their small electronic appliances. I saw in their catalogue a Dirt Devil stick vacuum for wood floors for $19.99 marked down from $40.00. I got there and took the last one off the shelf. Lucky me. I also got some ramekins for a SP recipe I want to make tomorrow.

When I came home it was lunchtime and I cut up all the veggies that goes into the eggplant that I had cooled overnight in the fridge. It was wonderful and as per WW it was all veggies and did not have any points. I'll check that out with my leader tomorrow when I weigh in. But think so. See my recipe in my cookbook.

Tonite we listened to the President address the Congress and I loved everything he had to say. I hope that the two fractions can come to an agreement for the benefit of the American people.

Tomorrow I weigh in at Weight Watchers and hopefully have lost some weight. As per my friend, eat Salmon and asparagus for dinner the night before. Well I did that. We will see if it works.

I am so glad that blogs don't have feeds so you can smell the eggplant! It's enough reading about it. Eggplant really is an under-valued food in the US. There are so many ways to use it. Trouble is it makes a lot, so I rarely make it now.
