As I mentioned in yesterday's blog my dh and I were invited to a celebration at another synagogue this morning. Our dear friend David celebrated his 75th birthday and his wife and another couple who was celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary hosted the luncheon after services. Many of our friends were there and the atmosphere was happy and inviting. The services were long but again, many celebratory events were being honored with prayers from the bemah (alter). As I mentioned in my blog I was concerned about the menu planned but much to my relief there was plenty for me to eat and plenty to pass on. I ate a bit of tuna fish salad, hummus and pita chips, herring and fruit assortment. I didn't have to eat at home which was my alternative plan. Tonight I re warmed the Honolulu chicken and made a wonderful salad. I have four points left for the day and will most likely have an ice cream and popcorn. Tomorrow is a brunch which honors the singing group that I once belonged to. I look forward to being with friends I haven't seen for a very long time. I found out my friend who was in synagogue this morning that she is bringing raspberries as well as decedent brownies. I am bringing a WW pumpkin mousse, so I'll be able to eat two desserts. lol lol I am watching my intake very carefully now but not under eating. All in all the day went very well.

This morning I met my friends for a round of golf. The dew point was still very high and I chose to ride in a cart, which I had all to myself. What luxury that was. I golfed a very good game considering my last two games, which were also under high heat warnings, were horrible. We went to Panera's for lunch and I had my regular menu selection of low calorie Garden Vegetable soup and 1/2 of a smoked turkey on sourdough bread with a small apple. I went shopping after golf to find a couple pair of shorts to replace my size 16 shorts which are falling off my body. When I tie the waist strings to fit my waist the shorts flare out and I have a multitude of gathering at the waist. I was also looking for a new pair of sandals with good supports since my shoe size has changed and the sandals I have been wearing are beginning to rub my left toe. I now have a hugh blister on my toe. I didn't find a thing so, tired and worn out I came home and took a shower and got dressed, because we were meeting our friends at the movie theatre. We saw "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock and Betty White. It was very cute and a nice way to spend the evening., We went to Zaffiros Pizza and Eatery after the show. Its a new restaurant which was added to the movie theatre so you can walk right in from the lobby entrance. We had been to their other location on the East side of Milwaukee and enjoyed their food. I was hesitant about ordering food because of the caloric counts, but decided that since I golfed this morning and I would put in some extra exercising during the week I wouldn't put a damper on the evening by protesting the restaurant. We ordered a kitchen sink salad and yes it contained everything but the kitchen sink. It was came pre tossed with Italian vinaigrette dressing. I picked out the pepperoni but ate alot of salad. Bob and I ordered our own pizza. Their pizza's are known for their paper thin crusts and we ordered 1/2 pepperoni for Bob and 1/2 veggie for me. I did not have an actual caloric count of the pizza but I will figure about 900 calories. When we got to our friend's home we decided that we would take a 45 minute walk. I felt much better about the high caloric intake after we walked some of the pizza off. Tomorrow we are invited to a 75th birthday for a very dear friend. I don't know the menu for the luncheon but I will naturally head for the fruit and salad. Hopefully there will be fruit and salad. Otherwise I'll pick at something and come home and eat lunch. Sunday we are invited to a brunch for which I am making a WW dessert. So I know I will have dessert. lol lol But I get ahead of myself. Baby steps Donna, baby steps and one day at a time.

Hello everyone. I hope you all had as wonderful a day as I did. Its began with my weighing in at Weight Watchers. Remember last week I had a slight gain of .4 of a pound. This week the scale showed a 3.4 pound weight-loss. Woo Hoo. I knew it was going to be a good day when I stepped on my scale prior to weighing in and I was bare naked and it showed a good weight-loss. I received my 5 pound increment star. I have 7 pounds to go to reach my Weight Watchers goal. I have an additional 15 pounds to reach my personal goal. We will wait and see if my body agrees.

I played bridge this afternoon and again it was a disappointing game on my end. I had some good hands and then a very long streak of my partner having a hand and I didn't or I had a hand and my partner didn't. Many of our points were from defensive playing. Yet we lost. I stuck with the watermelon as a snack during the game.

Tonight I had a meeting in a private home which sits on a golf course and it was lovely to sit in their yard for the meeting. The wife put out fruit and cookies and naturally I gravitated to the fruit.

I have eaten all my points and drunk my water. Tomorrow I am golfing with my 3 friends and plan to walk if the weather allows me to do it.

It was hot out there today. Got up to 97 degrees in Milwaukee. Matched a record that was set in 1937. I had a golf outing this A.M.and would have cancelled if it had not been that I had invited my very good friend Willie to join me as a guest. There was a luncheon afterward and I had made my Vegetarian chopped liver as an appetizer. We decided that we would cart and not walk, although some crazy ladies did walk the course. Oh well. From what I know no one passed out. Drank plenty of water but golfed like I was a beginner. I won a new golf glove as a door prize. I came home and jumped in the shower and boy did that feel great. I did a tour at the Milwaukee Jewish Museum this afternoon for the Greater Milwaukee Committee. They are city hot shots that are making Milwaukee a better place to live. There was a small group but very nice group of men and women. I had two new docents in training following me getting an idea about what it is to lead a tour. My food was great today as was my water. Golf was my exercise. We got a letter today from our Rabbi telling us that as of the end of June of this year he is moving back to Mpls, Minnesota to go to law school. He has decided to leave the clergy. A very sad day for our synagogue. I am on the Visionary committee that is planning the future of our synagogue and we will have lots to discuss on Thursday evening. Tomorrow morning I weigh in at WW and I am sure that I will have a great weight loss since I got on my scale this morning and lost weight again. Maybe tomorrow will be cooler since there is a prospect of cool air coming in from the West. Hurry up and get here, its hotter than you know what. ...................

I can relate to the heat! It has been bad here also. I thought we were going to get some rain earlier, but the sun is shining again. Glad you took the cart golfing. Not the kind of weather to be walking in!

I am blogging early because I have a conference call I am chairing this evening. My day has been very good. I have my water drunk and I am right on points. I have Honolulu Chicken in the oven and look forward to a beautiful salad and the chicken. I didn't play golf today, in fact I didn't go out at all because of weather heat advisory warning for Seniors. It was 95 degrees today. Yes I am in good health and I don't do well in the heat since passing out in Cancun Mexico . I do have a golf game scheduled for tomorrow. Its guest day and I have invited my friend to golf with me. We are going to share a cart. It is a luncheon and I am bringing an appetizer. It is mock chopped liver and I will have Ritz crackers on the side. It is delicious. It is made with sautéed onions, LeSuer peas, 4 hard boiled eggs and 11 Ritz crackers and a handful of walnuts all blended in a food processor. If you love chopped liver, you can't tell the difference between the real thing and this recipe. It is that good. Its alot healthier too. See my cookbook for the recipe and how you make it. So time for dinner.
