Today was a very special day. The Milwaukee Jewish Community Chorale of which I am co-president, had their 17 th annual concert this afternoon at 3:00 p.m.

Judy and I narrated the program and the chorale gave an 1 and 1/2 concert which was outstanding. We had a respectful audience of about 200 people who also enjoyed the performance. After the concert which was given in memory of our music director's husband Abe there was a reception which everyone attended and enjoy the mingling and congratulatory time with friends and family. Because it was so close to dinner I did indulge in two pieces of chocolate (dark) , I was very hungry, which were worth the calories or points.

I received the fund raising letters to sign which I handed over to Judy after I spent an hour signing them.

Dinner was not planned so it was look in the frig and make whatever you want. I had sautéed mushrooms with scrambled eggs. I just finished an apple for the evenings food intake.

This evening Milwaukee had tornado warnings and the thunderstorms and lightning were sound effects to our to move as we watched Jesse Stone, with Tom Selleck which we loved. Now I will finish up on the computer and read a while before I go to bed.

Its been a stressful week, with planning the concert, Judy and I were chairs, attending dress rehearsal and making sure all the i's were dotted and the t's crossed. Tomorrow begins another week and no big plans except this coming weekend we will attend our granddaughters graduation from high school. A nice event to look forward to.

I am blogging today for the first time in a very long time. I thought that no one cared enough to read my blogs and so I got away from writing down my thoughts and activities.

So I am back and from now on I am going to blog because I like to get my feelings down in black and white.

I am still at goal and maintaining my 75 pound weight loss. I am finding it easier now to adjust my menu's and eat everything but in smaller portions.

Today I went to a Bar Mitzvah celebration at Congregation Beth Israel, our counterpart in conservative synagogues. The young man, Zac was outstanding as I knew he would. His parents are associate members of our synagogue and his father leads services quite often on Saturday morning. So we have seen this young man grow up in our midst.

They served a beautiful luncheon and many of the regulars on Saturday morning were invited to the celebration. They did have the invited guests at designated tables and the couple did invite the congregational family at CBI to the luncheon as well but open tables, so they could choose where they sat. It was a lovely buffet. Smoke salmon, bagels (small) cream cheese, kugels, blintzes, egg salad, tuna fish salad, green salad, fruit and desserts. I chose to have a small bagel with cream cheese and lox, tomato and cucumber. Some herring, lots of fruit, and a 1 inch by 1 inch piece of blintz. Passed on dessert and kugal. Had coffee and went to the sweet table but it wasn't anything special and took a taste of a chocolate crumb, enough to give me that sweet taste after the meal. I thought to myself, okay Donna you just scarfed down 3 brownies, not get away from the table. Mind games, Pretend games, but did the trick. I went back to the fruit platter and served up some more fruit.

I came home and my DH did the grocery shopping for tonites dinner. I got a new cookbook "The Holocaust Survivors" cookbook. The cookbook has the stories of men and women who survived the holocaust and their recipes they grew up with. Last week I made a broccoli kugal and Hawaiian chicken. The chicken was excellent the kugal I would not make again. I put the leftovers in the freezer to give to my son, when he comes in for Fathers Day.

Tonite I am making Hungarian filled cabbage which is making my kitchen smell so good. I will also make mashed potatoes with it. It is different than my family recipe in that you add sauerkraut and cooked onions and Hungarian paprika. So I will see if I exchange our old family recipe with the new one.

I also made last week an apple cake for my honey and he said it fantastic. I also has been on a kick making mandelbrot, which is like a biscotti. I cut down on the sugar and it is just enough for me to satisfy my sweet tooth after a meal.

Last week I bought a new mix master since I burned out my hand held beater making my second batch of mandelbroit. I love using it and I am now on a baking kick.

Tonite we are planning to watch HBO there is a great movie on so it relaxing this weekend.

Tomorrow The Milwaukee Jewish Chorale is giving their concert at CBI and my co-president Judy and I will be announcing the program. There will be a reception following the concert where there will be lots of sweets offered. If they are the same as they were today, I will have no trouble passing on them. Maybe one crumb and play my pretend game.

Yay for blogging again! I always read your blogs and I was happy to see this one back on the SparkJews blog thread :) The stuffed cabbage sounds amazing. My father's side is Hungarian/Czech so the second version sounds more like what we usually make. I tried my hand at something different a few weeks ago...Pad Thai with cashew-crusted Salmon. It was delish! I love cooking, but don't have much time. I am definitely looking forward to the time when I will never have to be in school again! Sounds like a great day :)

This morning I got up early knowing I needed to clean my house because I had my weekly mahj game at my house.

The weather cooperated greatly because I could shake out my scatter rugs and bathroom rug out on the porch. The air was clean and crisp and the temp was in the 50's. I felt like deep cleaning our condo from the winter dust and stuffiness..

I steamed cleaned all my wood floors with my Hana steam cleaner, vacuumed, polished, dusted and cleaned the bathrooms, kitchen, den, bedroom and living room. When I was finished the house was spotless and smelled wonderful. I wish I could have opened the windows and aired out the house, but the weather was a little to cool for that. I was even thinking about doing the outside windows that I could reach, but that would have been pushing it. Tonite the weatherman said we could expect a cold front, snow and/or rain. Glad I didn't do the windows/

My group came at 12:30 p.m. and we played until 3:45 p.m. I lost $1.05. A nice afternoon for that amount.

Tonite I was supposed to go to a presentation but really felt like staying home. I find it a chore to go out at night and prefer to stay home and watch TV and/or read when it is dark. I am reading "The Innocent Man" by John Grisham. A true story of murder in Ada Oklahoma.

I am going to read until I get sleepy, no need to go to bed early I don't have anything in the morning and can sleep in if I choose

Yesterday I went to the temple to help bake desserts for the Sisterhood shabbat next weekend. It was great fun, a bunch of women in the kitchen baking and laughing and just having a great time. I made two pumpkin breads and two marble cakes.

I came home and Bob and I decided to go to a movie. We went to see "Lincoln Lawyer". Its with Mathew MaConhegy and Marisa Tommai. It was a good movie and recommend everyone seeing it. He is a lawyer who doesn't have an office but works out his car which is a Lincoln Town car. So now you understand the title of the movie. It has a twist to the ending so stay for the entire movie.'

This morning I went to temple for services and tonite I went back for closing sabbath prayers and the reading of the Miglliah which is the story of Esther. It is traditional to wear costumes like on Halloween. I wore an east Indian sari which was lent to me by a friend. It was just beautiful. We did a play around the reading of the story and it was great fun. Lots of kids running around and great participation from the parents and congregational family.

I just finished my latest book and now I will watch a little TV and start on another book
