First day of the 5% Fall Challenge!!

Saturday, October 06, 2012

Hi..what a day!!

Well been busy..I did the weigh in..up 6 pounds from the road trip (hopefully they are mostly water weight and soon to go)

I went along to town with hubby and then checked the community pasture cattle with him....then we stopped by some neighbors who are getting ready for an auction sale...they just moved here and came to Canada a few years ago from England..now they are being deported so we went over to give them a hand getting ready for the sale. They said lots of people stopped by and asked them if they needed help but we were the only ones to actually help them!! We're going back tomorrow too.

I did lots of heavy lifting so three hours of weight lifting is quite a work out!! I entered the max of 120 on my 5% team page and the water too. I have 3 new members to be mentor to so I sent then all some messages to welcome them.

This is the Thanksgiving weekend in Canada (we already had early Thanksgiving with daughter and her family last weekend) I have a small turkey to cook on Monday so I can have some leftovers too. yumm I love turkey... hubby not so much...

I can't believe that when I was in Bismark I forgot to look for the Spark exercise DVDs!! I was even in Target!! Darn..should check it out online I guess..

Well..I should head to bed..I'm beat!!
Thanks for dropping by and keep on Sparkin'

So very nice of you both to help your neighbors, I'm sure they appreciated the help very much. Around here, the only time you can get someone to help you, is if you pay them.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Home from our road trip :)

Saturday, October 06, 2012

Hi..just a quick blog as I'm tired from our fun road trip!! It was jsut getting there that wasn't so much fun...we went down through Sidney and Glendive Mt and ran into snow on Tuseday...the snow got really bad especially through Medora and almost all the way to Bismark..just outside of Bismark it turned to rain.

The road trip was fun and we spent some time each day relaxing in the pool and hot tub, the hotel offered complimentary breakfast and evening meal with drinks (oh boy..did I drink too much free beer..haha!)

Hubby's birthday was a blast..we shopped we ate we spent time in the pool...we went to Hooters and discovered he has the same birthday as Hooters..haha!!

One thing about shopping in the fall in North Dakota is there is a lot of hunting stuff around...everything is camo....camo clothes, camo cups, camo coolers, camo everything..and even camo spray paint in case you can't find what you're looking for in camo!! Pardon the pun....

Okay..this was the funniest thing I saw...camo print lingerie..I figured if I wore it..hubby could find me in bed..but lose me in the grass!! haha...

So tomorrow is the first weigh in for the 5% fall challenge and I think I'll be adjusting my weight up a bit since the road trip..mostly retained water from the salt....easy to lose..I hope :)

Well I should get to bed..didn't sleep too great last night..had the room next to the elevator and starting really early guests started leaving and dragging their luggage on the ceramic tile leading up to the elevator....if I see luggage with wheels makes me want to rip the wheels off...haha..

Thanks for dropping by and keep on Sparkin'

Love Donna emoticon

Will try and download a pic of the winter wonderland at Medora..

Oct 3..Joke of the Day..

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

Hi..here's one of my favorites.....When someone annoys you..walk a mile in their shoes...then you're a mile away from them and you have their shoes :) haha

Well....almost ready to head out for our road trip..

Lookinng forward to the hot tub at the hotel and some serious shopping..may even hit Target for some Spark fitness DVDs..can't wait till 2013 when Canada will get Target stores..one is even cominng to Regina..about a 2 hour drive from here..Bismark is 3 or 4 hours from here...on the road again....

Supposed to be cool and damp for a few days so the rest of the fall work can wait a few days.

Thanks for dropping by and keep on Sparkin'

October 2..joke of the day...

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

Hi..today's joke..keeping on the Maxine track..

An apple a day keeps everyone away if your aim is good enough....

Today has been a busy one catching up and getting ready for the trip..we're all packed and ready to leave in the morning, but we have a couple herds of cattle to check before we leave..

Hubby got a tire fixed on a tractor that he's been waiting to get fixed for over a year...I dug all my potatoes...we helped the neighbor move some cattle..went to town for fuel and mail and cat food with the pasture truck...did some checking on the pipeline that is on our land..they had moved a rock pile off where they plan to dig in the pipe and put it on our grass without our permisson,,,rock pile all moved and the contact man said the person responsible for that has been fired....did some more jobs to get ready..checked some cows..fed some bales....we had an early Birthday supper for hubby..oven roasted veggies and smokies and german chocolate Birthday cake...now we're relaxing with a beer and will soon be off to bed...hubby talked on the phone lots tonight as I told the family we will be gone on Thursday..his actual birthday...

...why does it seem like so much work to get away for a few days??

I heard from my sister and she has shingles..yikes..it seems like so many people have them...she suggested I get the vaccine for it..any body know about that and why it seems that every second person has shingles?

Well..thanks for dropping by and for all your kind comments...I'll try to be good while I'm away and not over indulge..hopefully I'll come back refreshed and recharged and ready to rock the 5% challenge!!

Wow! So busy, you are going to need a couple of days to relax. Hope you have a great time. I do remember when I was a child my Dad had the shingles and would lay on the living room floor on a sheet with his shirt off because it was so hot. I know he was pretty miserable. But I was young & don't remember much about them. Lately I've been hearing a lot about them on radio advertising. It must be making a comback so the warning is out on them.
And yes I know, it does take a lot of planning, time, & work to get ready for a trip. Maybe we all need a personal assistant to take care of the extra stuff we don't have time to do.

I checked into the shingles vaccine. You have to be over 60 for insureance to cover the cost. They are looking into dropping the age limit. Tell you sis to take care. Shingles are very painful!! Moni

October 1..Joke of the Day...

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Hi..in keeping with my October theme of laughter I thought I'd try to blog a joke of the day...I love Maxine cartoons so I'm sure she'll show up here lots...like today

from a Maxine cartoon on my fridge...
Interesting coincidence: I have firewood and the neighbor is missing an Adirondack chair..

emoticon

Something else that made me smile..we finished hauling all the bales WooHoo!! So to celebrate we are going on a mini getaway to Bismark ND..we had so much fun there last year..we leave Wed and come back Friday..hubby's birthday is Thursday so it's part of his gift, too! Which leaves tomorrow to get ready!!

Yesterday we drove to our oldest daughter's place and had early Thanksgiving (Canada's Thanksgiving is Oct 8) and an early Birthday party for my oldest granddaughter..she will turn 11 on Oct 17! What a fun day..lots of yummy food, lots of hugs and lots of laughs :)

Well..I guess I'll have to miss logging on to Spark on Thursday and break my streak..the get away will be fun tho' and some much needed R and R!!

Thanks for dropping by..keep on smiling and keep on Sparkin'

Love Donna emoticon

While I'm away I may buy a Kindle..any suggestions on which model I should get? Can't decide between a plain on or one with color for magazines, etc?

My once a month shopping is going great! I'm really getting the hang of it! I bought October's groceries last week and with a coupon spent the amount to get a free turkey :) I'll cook that up next weekend for just the 2 of us and then freeze the leftovers..yum yum!! I'm finding perks I wasn't aware of :) emoticon

Get the Kindle Fire. It is color, you can read a book, look at a magizine, surf the web, or just play games.

    Have fun on your trip!

I have a Kindle Fire and love it. The main reason I didn't like the plain Kindle was that it didn't have a backlight to read with - you have to use an external light.

CATBEFIT 10/2/2012 10:48AM

Thanks for the bit of humor! Enjoy your R&R!

Kindle decision definitely depends on whether you will use it for color magazines, web surfing, or always for reading books. A couple of months ago I bought the Nook "Glow" because I use it only for reading books AND it also has a backlit screen so you can read in the dark (cars-bed at night et al). Now I see that Kindle has come out with the same concept. If you get the color screens, then beware that they will reflect light -- OK inside, but outside in any type of sunlight -- more difficult to use.

I have a plain old kindle - love it for reading. I don't need a back lit screen. My son got a Fire so he could have that And a Tablet - so what do you need? Definitely love the small size. Enjoy. Mine was a gift and I smiled and thought I wouldn't use it but... Just be careful with the free sample books. You start reading, get hooked, then hit BUY IT! And there another amazon chg! emoticon

Here's one for your humor: I dream of a world where a chicken can cross the road without having his motives questioned. (Saw it on a t shirt)
