Way late to blog...

Thursday, February 02, 2012

Hi..I can't believe I haven't blogged for such a long's been really busy here.. hubby has decided that since calving is just a few weeks away and then he'll be staying really close to home, we should go on some road we've been out for supper Monday, bought a new bale shredder Tuesday, went to Williston yesterday and today I went to town for mail and banking and groceries while hubby did extra chores since we're going to Saskatoon for a couple days tomorrow to bring bull meat to our son and sister...We also had company today!

Our trip to Williston was really fun, the oil boom has really changed Williston but we did a bit of shopping and then out for supper and home :) Found some great bargains like runners on sale for $10 and a pair of dressy flats for $1. Saw a guy on a motorcycle in Montana in Feb!! Also a bald eagle flying overhead along the way.

We really ended up having just a skiff of snow and then really warm temps so the snow is almost all gone again! It's really not been a good year to buy snowshoes..haha...

Well I can't wait til our road trip tomorrow to Saskatoon..we're seeing my sister first and then dropping off her meat, then over to son's when he gets off work and then we're going to a Blade's hockey game and stay overnight and son is going snowboarding at 8:30 am so we'll be off back home to the cows by mid-afternoon.....

We do have a few more trips planned for the next couple to Weyburn to do some business and take hubby's dad out for Birthday dinner and the week after that we are taking a class in Assiniboia on cattle marketing..Then hubby will stay home for about 6 weeks or more..not me..I'm getting the granddaughters the week of the 20th when they have their school break and then take them home..hope the nice weather holds..we are sooo spoiled!!

On to January goals update..and then February goals....

-Happiness is a choice..yes I have been very happy for almost all of January!!

-2nd half of 5% challenge..I only managed to lose one pound (really gained and lost, and gained and lost and ended up 1 pound less!!)

-Weekly weigh in..yes

-30 minutes on bike and other exercises..yes and got over 1000 fitness minutes!!

-Follow sensible diet and track foods..most of the time on both counts!!

-Aim for 1000 spark points..yes and then some!!

-Blog daily and start the one sentence journal..blogged most days (one week in the challenge was to blog daily and comment on 10 other blogs..too much fun and made lots of new friends!!) Need to work on the journalling...

-Go to bed by 11 pm..yes almost every night :) missed a couple nights..hey hockey sometimes goes to overtime!! haha :)

-Follow the book Happiness Project and chart..yes!!

-Time for me Self"fish"..yes, did lots of me things!!

-Clean slate/clear clutter/gain energy..painted a new blackboard..did lots of cleaning and sorting..woohoo!!

-Share my happiness with others...hubby, family, friends, Spark friends, and pray for a stranger..yes..I've tried to share my happiness with others..

So all in all I'd say I made real progress in January toward happiness and a healthier life!! Woohoo!!!
I think I'll take a mini break and get a beer and catch the end of the hockey game and then blog my February goals...

...Thanks for dropping by and keep on Sparkin'

Woohoo..the Jets just won in overtime!! Now it's time to tun in to the next game..the Oilers play tonight too!!

Oh soon..Love Donna emoticon

Nice that you're getting a few days out before the calving begins. Love the picture of your amaryllis; I tried to get a couple to rebloom; stopped watering them, in dark for 6 weeks, etc., but got only leaves.

    Hi Donna -

We had snow too, but very wet and heavy, so not good for snowshoeing. Besides, they are predicting temperatures next Tuesday and Wednesday will be around +6, so show will be gone again. It doesn't look as if we will get out this year at all, as DH will be wearing his sling for at least another 4 weeks. Hopefully by that time Spring will be on the horizon!

we leave our tree up for 14 days after Ukrainian Christmas, so we've just finished putting things away. It's kind of nice to have the family room back to normal. Now I have to get back at some knitting, crocheting and sewing. Also have a hooked rug kit that DH gave me a couple of years ago that I should start.

Enjoy your week-end,

We are going to really clean the bedroom tomorrow, so it's going to count as spring cleaning. We are supposed to get some flurries here in the higher elevations. Keep Sparking.

There are only 52 days until spring so not too early with your spring cleaning. Just think - if you get it done before Spring arrives, then you can enjoy being out of doors when it does get here.

Another road trip..

Tuesday, January 24, 2012

Hi..back from another road trip, this time to Wayburn with cattle. Today started with sorting the 8 cows to go to market from the bull pen..then I helped with chores and helped take twine off bales..which also involved walking out to the fields so got lots of exercise to burn off yesterday's supper in Regina!!

Then we loaded the cattle and got ready to go to town..ended up having a late lunch in town at A & W so I had my favorite grilled chicken and coffee...did a bit of shopping and bought some supplies for 2012 bookkeeping and some Valentines and Birthday cards. We stopped at the in-laws and had coffee and a visit. They gave us a bag of flour and a box of donuts..the flour will come in handy since I'm in the mood to make homemade bread again. Picked up a few groceries and headed home..Had a late supper of Chinese stir fry noodle bowl with extra veggies..yum yum.

I missed my bike today but after all the walking with chores and shopping I'm too pooped to pedal..hence I'm sitting here on my laptop holding down the love seat. We watched a hockey game and I made a few phone I'm about ready to call it an night..

..before I go to bed I'm going to throw on my coat and go out and look at the night sky. The northern lights are supposed to be great tonight..mostly from 11pm til 4 am but I'll be asleep then so am going to check them out...I love the northern lights!! One of my all time favorite shows of nature :)

Thanks for dropping by and keep on Sparkin'

Reading this makes me want to get away from my world and come visit yours for a day! Dying for a change over here!

And a loveseat is just a couch for a 3 seater sofa cut down. Well, that is what we called ours here on LI! I like the name "loveseat" - brings me back to my childhood!

Road trip to Regina today...

Monday, January 23, 2012

Hi..we're home from a quick trip to the city, and tomorrow we are taking old cattle to market in Weyburn ...nothing like staying home for 10 days and then be gone two days in a row!!

I tried to both shop and eat sensibly..and did not too bad...bought some seeds for the garden..think spring..and a cute card pack of 50 inspirational things called How Now! for $3.99..and under $20 of groceries!! The shopping trip was for hubby to spend some of his Princess Auto gift cards..he had a good day and found some bargains :)

We went out for supper at Applebee's and I had Cajun shrimp and pasta and a light lime beer..okay and a dessert shooter..couldn't get the actual food to come up on the tracker so I guessed at the calories..lots of grilled shrimp with onons and pappers on a small portion of pasta..very yummy and very spicy!!

Rode my x bike for 40 minutes and walked for 20 minutes or more to bring my fitness total to 60 today..I'm trying to get 60 minutes per day for the rest of January!!

Well I'm quite tired and just going to watch the last 10 minutes of the hockey game and then off to bed..thanks for dropping by and for all your comments and Keep on Sparkin'
