shopping trip to Regina

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Hi..it's rainy again today so after we rounded up and moved a herd of cattle closer to the yard and pulled the bull we went up to Regina. We had both dinner and supper there so it was a challenge to stay within calorie limits but I did :) I also bought some nice fruits and veggies from the super Walmart, a box of chicken breasts ( I read on a blog for batch cooking to BBQ a whole box and then they are ready to use) and some snacks to pack in lunches for when hubby gets back to cutting hay at the neighbors and some magazines..my weakness.

September has been a hectic month..very fitting for my "work" theme. My September goals are so far so good but I think the weight loss will be a bit short..slow but sure tho, I tried on a skinny pair of wranglers and I can wear them, only with a loose top to cover the muffin haha

Hope your September is going your way..good luck everyone..keep on Sparking :)
Talk to you tomorrow

Exciting that you're in your skinny jeans! emoticon And to stay within your calories with TWO meals out -- AMAZING job!

Think I'm busting through my plateau -- thanks for wishing me luck. I've lost a pound a day for three days, so I'm finally back to my low of 3 weeks ago. Whew!

Keep on smiling while you get all that work done, honey!

woke up to no power..an owl flew into the fuse on the pole!

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

When I first wrote I was ready for a wild week..I had no idea :).We woke up to no power..the fuse was off the pole and an injured owl on the ground...the power company was here before 8 am to fix it, the conservation officer told us to put the great horned owl out of it's misery and the rider was here for coffee before setting out to check pastures (all this before 8am!)
While there was too much dew to cut the oats..I helped move hubby to the pasture, quadded 3 herds of our cattle and gave them all salt and minerals. Then it was ready to get back to swathing (hubby fixed the swather..just a small repair and no he didn't apologize for his melt down :( ) I finished swathing the last green oat field for swath grazing this afternoon yay! Then I drove to town for mail and errands (got the wrong size screws for the tin..must be subconsciously feeling done with tin, haha) Then on the way home I stopped at the neighbor's where hubby's cutting hay on shares. Then he wasn't ready to go home yet so I went home, started supper and picked the last of the tomatoes..2 five gallon pails..it may freeze tonight or soon, anyway. Then back to pick up hubby..now I'm just vegging after supper and doing some spark stuff..at least I've been getting lots of fitness minutes..I can tell cuz I'm so tired

I'm still going pretty good with the September goals..hope the scale will co-operate :)..I usually kind of do themes for different months. based on a book I read. Work is September's theme so I'm well ahead in that department..hope everyone's September is going great :)

take care and talk to you tomorrow!

Must have been hard to see the owl put down, but must have been best for it. So unusual for them to collide with anything!

Wow, 10 gallons of tomatoes all ripe at once! Do you sell them or can them? So busy!

Good job on sticking to your September goals! Good idea to set them like that.

Poor owl! I love owls. We raised a barn owl last year at the clinic where I work and this year we are raising a great horned owl. It's an incredible experience to watch them grow and change.

Keep up the good work and your scale will show it!

was swathing green oats unntil the swather broke :(

Monday, September 13, 2010

Hi I was swathing green oats for swath grazing until the swather broke down..I had to get hubby off the haybine and he had a major melt down.. this wet weather has everyone's tempers frayed! Well at least I didn"t turn to food and binge !!

I'm pooped so am off to bed after I get enough spark points..guess I'll just surf around and then head to bed.

Take care and hope you're all having a great day :)

You swather, you! So sorry about hubby's meltdown. I hope he appologizes ;-)

I've got all these great inspirational quotes but I haven't figured out how to send them to you yet... I'll see if I can cut and paste 'em. Manana.

an irresistible headline on this blog -- good for you, not binging in frustration -- and here's hoping that the machinery gets more cooperative soon!

Well I have no clue what you were doing, but it sounds great to me...I would love farm life.....so blessed to be living that kind of life even with its hardships.....so enjoy your life and know that there are others out here who would give anything to have your lifestyle.
Of course we don't have to deal with the hardships either and maybe we just love the thought of it all....but still...something about farm life calls to me...
Hugs,
Sarah

The life of a farm family is a hard one . . . .weather is always a factor, machines break down, the market rises and falls, and I'm sure that isn't the half of it! Hang in there, a new day is dawning!

Hi..another busy Sunday :)

Monday, September 13, 2010

Hi..I'm just going to quickly jot what all I did today..pick up shingles from the chicken coop, have company for coffee for the rest of the morning :) ,watch the Riders lose the banjo bowl :) ..son and his girlfriend went there on a bus trip..too bad the game wasn't so good ..then I mowed grass, hubby back cutting green oats to bale, entered three momths of farm books onto new computer program, 15 mins exercise bike, 25 push ups, 25 crunches, 25 bicept curls with a band, batch cooked chicken breasts, thawing burger for tomorrows batch cooking, tried to phone my daughter, not home. Cleaned porch, brought coffee to field, picked up hubby at dark for supper...spent the rest of the evening sparking :)

hope you all had a great Sunday too :)

more tin on the quonset :)

Saturday, September 11, 2010

even tho it was really windy today we put more tin on the quonset. We have one side completely finished and the other side started..We got our neighbor to come help us with the start of the second side, it helps to have lots of hand to start it even :) speaking of hands mine are all cut up tonight and I have a blister fron the tin snips..I did alot of the cutting today.

The pineapple has worked great, hope tomorrow's weigh-in is okay :) too!

Today hubby even got back to cutting hay late this afternoon, hope the rain stays away.

I'm still finding lots of neat teams :) last night found one with crock pot recipes...they sound really good to try.

well I'm really pooped from working on the tin..should go and rest up for tomorrow

Have a great rest of your weekend

Yow, Donna, what a worker! Tin is so hard on the hands, and it's hard to work with gloves on. Glad you got some more done.

Love your comments -- I say forget the 4 pounds that sneaked in unwelcomed! You're aiming for 10 lost in September, based on where you started 9/1, right? I know you'll make it! emoticon
