Home from funeral...heard more bad news....

Friday, December 09, 2011

Hi..we just got home from Regina where we did a bit of shopping and then attended our friend's sister's funeral. At the funeral we also heard of the passing of another man we knew how was the father of one of our son's just got off the phone to son to see if he had heard and he had talked to his friend already today.

I'm just really tired..did lots of walking and shopping and it's really cold too!!

I posted my exercies and tracking on the challenge and now am ready for bed..the beer didn't help much I'm really sleepy!!

Thanks for dropping by and for all your comments..keep on Sparkin' and remember to count your blessings..after hearing of all these deaths I think I'm just glad to still be alive :)

Take care everyone...

Thanks for your comments on my "pent up demand" blog: sounds like you're having a tough December with sad news and not well either. Sorry. This time of the year can be very emotional in great and not so great ways . . . hope at least that you are all better soon.

Isn't it interesting - and sad - that sometimes other people's death or illness reminds us how lucky we are to be alive and healthy? I totally relate to that. Two young people who work for me both have moms in their 40s-50s who have very bad cancer. I feel so sorry for the young ones in their 20s who most likely will be losing their moms. And I feel so grateful to be in my 60s, strong, and healthy. And my daughter is happy about it too!

Be well!

I hope you enjoyed the beer, though! I wanted to drink a beer last night, but the soy milk was on the verge, so I polished it off with cereal, and then I didn't have enough calories for it.

Have a good weekend!

Reached a December goal already :)

Wednesday, December 07, 2011

Hi..I've already reached my December goals to reach the next level of Spark points..I'm at level 14!! Woohoo :)

We had fun at hubby's work Christmas party..the food was tasty and the company was great. The entertainment was cowboy poetry and roping a dummy calf..the guys at the warehouse have way too much time on their hands..haha. I did a bit more of the Christmas shopping, too.

Yesterday a neighbor came up for a visit and we had coffee. I did some more work on the house and did some the tree up and a few other decorations. Then we took beer and cookies over to some close friends who just had a death in their family.

I checked the cattle herd yesterday while hubby worked more on the corrals. I chopped 3 water holes and that was quite a work out..the ice is about a foot deep! I also ran to town for mail and errands and I mailed my Christmas cards. A friend had shared the address to mail a card to an Armed forces member..for anyone from Canada who wants the address...

Today I drove over to my home town and went out for lunch with 2 high school classmates. It was fun getting together and catching was kind of a birthday/Christmas party.

When I got home hubby and I checked cows together, then he needed help to get unstuck with the tractor and manure I drove one of the tractors and got him out fine. After supper we watched the rodeo and now I'm watching a hockey game..Edmonton is losing bad, tho :(

Tomorrow we're going to our friend's sister's funeral in Regina. It's an evening service so we may do a bit of Christmas shopping, first.

Heard more sad news of the passing of another neighbor's 32 year old daughter today. Soo sad.

Well, the hockey game is almost over so I should go for now..thanks for dropping by..keep on Sparkin'

Hi..cold and windy and snowy here....

Sunday, December 04, 2011

Tomorrow we have another Christmas party..hubby's work in's a chinese food buffet that's take out and then the rest of us bring desserts so I made up a tin of Christmas baking...

..I did most of the baking already ..I found some helpful hints to use while baking...chew gum, make bar cookies so you don't sneak one, put the bowls in hot soapy water to stop licking, and freeze your goodies right away...hope that helps with any baking projects you may be doing.

I finished all the Christmas cards today and will mail them Tuesday when I go to get the mail and pick up some library books we ordered...

We found the NFR is on Canadian dish tv this year but not channels we subscribed to so I ordered those channels and we watched the replay of day goes right to Sunday but we'll miss the last day since that is granddaughter's birthday party...Hubby and I both like to watch rodeo.

The challenge is going fine..go Starfish :)

I rode the x-bike 30 minutes and tracked all my food and stayed in range..I sent out some goodies and comments and I'm about ready for bed...tomorrow will be a busy day..want to do a bit more Christmas shopping. A friend and I usually go to the nursing home and give each resident a card and small gift and sing carols. This year I'm going to pick up Christmas sox for the gifts...we have this planned for next week.

Thanks for dropping by for tea emoticonkeep on Sparkin'

Survived the first Christmas party of the season...

Sunday, December 04, 2011

Hi..The first Christmas party was a blast..

My slo-pitch team women all got together and went to the community Drugstore Ladies Night. Actually they are having 3 of them and last night was the 2nd one. I used to work at this I'm friends with all the staff.

I had a lighter lunch to compensate for some extra calories but I ate reasonably..had 3 drinks, supper was ham, scalloped potatoes, corn, salad, a ww bun and a tiny piece of strawberry shortcake.

The table was set with lots of take home stuff which included a lined plastic reusable slurpee cup, a christmas ornament, a 3D pop up Christmas card, and a candle holder and some soap. A reusable shopping bag was handed out at the door and it had another compact shopping bag, a calendar with a $10 off coupon for next year.

We played some games and our table won and we each got a pair of earrings :)

Then on to the shopping (yes drinking first then shopping..haha) Our ticket cost $20 and then when we went through the check out we got $20 off our purchase (plus my friend bought my ticket for a Christmas gift :) ) So I bought a gingerbread house cookie jar that was $20 so free, then I bought a few more things. There was a 50/50 draw and other door prizes that I didn't win, but I was happy with my haul..then we finished the night off with a stop at the bar..

When I weighed in this morning I was the same weight as the day before..woohoo

Merry Christmas to everyone and may all your Christmas parties be Merry emoticon

    Sounds like a great evening!!

I went over to the next town for dinner but the drive was kind of hairy on the way over -- it was snowing fairly heavily and the first thing off, we met several cattle trucks and they really raised a cloud of snow. It almost made me want to turn around, but I figured that the next few weekends the place will be full with Christmas parties. In fact, the local bank was having theirs when we got there last night. The drive home was fine, it had quit snowing and the road was blown pretty clear.

Your December goals sound good. I may need to blog some for myself...

I hope your weather is nicer than ours, I thought it was supposed to stop blowing during the night, but it's still pretty breezy. Have to do a dump run this afternoon.

Have a good day.

Sounds like you had fun! If you plan for extra calories you can indulge once in awhile! Last time I had a couple of drinks I really struggled with my exercise the next day. I guess I was sweating out the toxins. I hope it is better for you. emoticon
