Hi..Today I rode the bike for 30 minutes..I was reading one of my magazines and the time just flew by.
Except for riding along to check the herd with hubby I spent today working on house stuff for a change...oh yeah I also helped him replace the alternator on one of our trucks before lunch. Lunch was deer chili and I made him a lemon poppy seed bundt cake for dessert (I had a small piece, too) Then he was off to town for get supplies for the fence we're building and to pick up some salt and minerals we ordered for the cattle. While he was gone I did some work on the porch..cleaning and sorting..one of my November goals was is to simplify my house..part of my attack plan is to fill 30 black garbage bags and get them out of the house. So far I have filled one bag with summer stuff and put it away in the garden shed, one bag full of recycling cans and bottles to take to Sarcan in Weyburn, one bag of old clothes for grease rags..out to the shop, one bag of old toys, etc. and a bag of clothes to take to the Salvation Army, and one bag of garbage...the house feels lighter already...
I love to do batch cooking when I have time and today was a perfect opportunity ..so I thawed out a lot of burger and made 11dozen meatballs..baked them, then froze them in bags to use later..I put 8 to a bag..they are quite big so I got 16 meals ..I have lots of recipes for my meatball madness....makes for a quick meal...anyone want to share their favorite meatball recipe? I like BBQ sauce in a sub/spaghetti and meatballs/sweet and sour meatballs with rice/ meatballs with mushroom gravy on mashed potatoes/Mini sliders/ it goes on and on...
I also sliced up some of the bundt cake and froze them for hubby's snacks.
In one of my magazines there is a section of "shooter" desserts..like at Applebees :) neat ideas for portion control..I think I'm going to start a mini book of recipes...
In the same magazine there were recipes for oatmeal toppings..there were 6 ideas
-stir in canned pumpkin and granola for a harvest flavor
-top with coconut and dark chocolate chips for a decadent taste
-add dried fruit, a touch of brown sugar and cinnamon for autumn goodness
-stir in some almond butter and raspberry jam for a homey taste
-top with walnuts and blueberries to increase fruit servings
-stir in peanut butter, chopped apple and a sprinkle of brown sugar
They all sound yummy!! I've been doing really great with breakfast..every morning in November I've had oatmeal :)
Tomorrow a neighbor is helping us haul our cattle home from the far away pasture. The weather has warmed up some and some of the snow has melted....We may fence tomorrow too if we have the time..otherwise we'll have all of Saturday to work on the fence, then it'll be almost time to move the main herd from the north fall grazing to the east fall grazing, hopefully not during a blizzard again....
As I type this I'm watching another hockey game and I'm about ready to make another cup of that very yummy new tea...mulled apple mmmmm.
Hubby picked up the mail when he was in town and I got 3 more magazines so I think I'll do some reading with my tea...
Thanks for dropping by for tea..Keep on Sparkin'
