Happy Halloween and October goal re-cap...

Tuesday, November 01, 2011

emoticonHi..hope you've all had a great Halloween!..it's quiet here as we never get any trick or treaters way out here..too far off the beaten path..literally out in the middle of nowhere! Home sweet home which of course means all the candy for us..haha..I made 2 caramel apples with chopped peanuts for a treat for dessert after lunch..yum yum :)

Hubby went down to the neighbors to help him this morning..while I did some housework, laundry, rode my bike and worked at cleaning up the garden some more..the corn stalks all got hauled to the weaned cows that are still in the corrals..bawling for their babies...then we hauled some bales after lunch..

..for lunch we had hot dogs, sauerkraut, and tomatoes...supper was crepes with raspberries and saskatoons...

Tomorrow is off to our cattle auction so I'm hoping the prices are good :) We'll do a bit of shopping and out for supper after the sale while we wait for the cheque..then Wed we're off to Weyburn for banking and business...now we are also going to Regina on Thursday..not much time for anything else with all the road trips...it's always fun to go on a road trip tho the work will wait..

On to October's re-cap...

Well, we had 27 kids this year, and about the same last year.
Our house is build into a hill and 16 steps just to get to the front door. Some just don't want to climb it for candy, at least the parents don't.
Sure hope your day at the auction is a great day, and you bring home a huge supply of gold bricks.
And a big High Five for accomplishing all of your fantastic goals!
On to November, the turkey month!

Ha ha I like my quote for tonight..quite fitting for the night before Halloween!!

Well the calves have gone to market..we`ll go watch the auction on Tuesday...Up way before sunup today and since it was chilly I added lots of layers but it didn`t take long to throw off a few!! An hour of sorting cows from calves, then which calves go to market...had me soaked in sweat so Yeah a great work out...then drove to Assiniboia to watch them weigh and we`re happy with the weights..should be a great sale..we had lunch out..had a egg and veggie wrap and a coffee...did a bit of shopping...

Worked with the herd when we got home..treated a sick calf, helped hubby fix a water bowl, put in a keeper calf t¸hat escaped....then I made a late mini thanksgiving supper since hubby missed his (but he`s not fond of turkey and didn`t mind too much) We had chicken breasts, homemade stove top stuffing..ala Rachael Ray, sweet potatoes, corn and cranberries, and frozen pumpkin pie..yum yum..a great way to finish off October.

I`m busy working on the November plans and I`m quite pumped to get the November goals blog posted..stay tuned ....

October recap will hopefully be tomorrow`s blog....after blogging I`m going to give out some goodies tonight...

Hope you all have the Spookiest, Happiest Halloween!! Thanks for dropping by ..Keep on Sparkin`and Keep on changing..even if it`s just your costume for Halloween!! emoticon

Hi...just vegging on the couch watching the hockey game..Vancouver vs Washington..I've finished my beer and popped back over my October goals blog to see how I'm doing..all in all I 'd say October has been a successful month. I'll wait for the 31 to do the whole recap but of note is the goal to spark daily and blog and get points...I've missed a few days logging in so I won't get that trophy and I've only blogged once in awhile but the best is I met my points goal a few days early..if I can get 1000 points in Nov and 1000 points in Dec I'll be at a new level by the new year :) woohoo....

I'm happy with my progress in all the goal areas and have been busy on November goals..mostly in my head...

Today was cold and windy but hardly got any of the rain forecast so our busy prep day for the cattle went quite good...hubby finished a bit of the corral cleaning, shredded bales for the herd in the newly cleaned corral...I moved vehicles around..to give room for the semi..fueled up the truck..we'll go to Assiniboia to watch the calves weigh tomorrow and then watch them sell and get the cheque on Tuesday... I helped do some work on the corrals..re-nailed up some slabs that had fallen down over summer, wired up some panels to make the corral a bit bigger..then we were off to round up the 2 home herds..they weren't as cooperative as we had hoped so it was a bit of a challenge...but they are all in the yard for tomorrow's early morning sort. A couple of the neighbors will come and help sort cows from calves, then we'll sort out some heifers to keep as replacements and keep back some smaller ones, etc.

For lunch today we had the rest of the deer stew..I added some new veggies to it...then I baked some oatmeal ginger cookies with raisins and walnuts for a snack with coffee after the semi is loaded tomorrow. I also did a bit of house work, vacuumed, scrubbed etc... So we're all set..even had time to give hubby a much needed haircut!!!

We used 2 quads to round up and by the time we were done we were very cold...hope it's not too cold in the morning! Of course it'll be lots of running so we won't stay cold for long!! I did find time to ride my bike for 30 minutes..my streak is coming along nicely..every day since I've been home from my daughters!!

Well ..it's always such an exciting time when we sell the calves..really our year's paycheque depends on it...

Thanks for dropping by..Keep on Spaarkin' Keep on Changing emoticon

Hope you're all having a great Halloween weekend emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi....watched the ball game and now ready to add a quick blog and off to bed. Tomorrow will be a very busy day getting the cows in for Sunday's sort and off to market :) The calf prices are very high this year so we're really happy with that!

I did some housework this morning, rode the x bike for 30 minutes, made deer stew for dinner..then went to town for parts..window checked the far away herd..I had the car..then to our close town which is in the opposite direction for mail..I also stopped at a friends house and bbrought her chicken soup..she has a cold, popcorn balls and lent her a book..Spark :)

I'm warming up for November's theme which is Hospitality, friendship and giving...heavy on the "tea" in hospitality :)

We decided against the flu shot for now..could still get them in Weyburn if we want. Hubby wanted to finish up the corral he was cleaning so the herd can be fed there while they wean on Sunday.

Had a quick supper of fish and chips..I just had fish and a salad...

Got 3 new magazines today so have some reading ahead of me..also started reading the book called the Shack.

Well, best get to bed..thanks for dropping by..keep on Sparkin' and keep on changing emoticon

Friday, October 28, 2011

Hi..just relaxing after a busy day..surfing the web..watching hockey and baseball at the same time..the Oilers won now lets see if Texas wins too...

I spent the day doing the farm books and the GST refund..quadded the south herd, made the peach jam finally and also made hubby popcorn balls (okay..I had a couple, too)....did some outside yard work and some inside housework....CHANGE must be near since this is Chaos.. anyone familiar with flylady.net knows chaos stands for can't have anyone over syndrome haha that about describes here..lino still in living room etc..hubby is still busy getting some of the corrals cleaned before we bring the herds all home and sort to sell calves on Sunday.. this is always a busy time here on the ranch....

I think we're going into town tomorrow to get flu shots and do some business....

Found this quote on facebook today...Change what you say from 'I have to" to "I get to" to experience gratitude... good advice..

Well thanks for dropping by..keep on Sparkin' ..keep on changing emoticon

Also found this cute joke....Woman on scale.."I don't think my Weight Watcher diet pills are working" Hubby..."These aren't diet pills..they're upside down.." haha

(Had to explain it to hubby..he didn't get that they were M&Ms haha) emoticon

Chaos! I love that one. So very true here. As for the flu shots, that's probably a good idea. I've never had one yet, but after being sick with the flu last Feb. for 14 days, I just might get one this year.
OK, the peach jam and popcorn balls...sounds so good I am officially hungry now.
Off to bed time, no more food tonight for me.
Take care, hopefully you have time to enjoy the upcoming weekend.
