Be the Change...

Friday, October 07, 2011

Hi..just a quick blog..I already wrote this but it dissappeared when the internet quit working :( So here is the condensed version!!

I cleaned the plastic container cupboard at my daughters today and yesterday I started sorting the girls room.

We went for our daily walk and DD helped make supper but now is very tired.. have to try to keep her from over doing..but at least she wasn't bored!!
I took the little girls to a neighbor's and we went to an evening children's blble school..the kids loved it..usually there is around 20 kids there and tonight there was around 40!!

I'm starting to really miss home and feel somewhere between not helpful enough and just plain in the way...I think it will be Tuesday when I go back home for awhile..then go back and forth some...

Well it's bedtime and I should go for now..thanks for stopping by and Keep on Sparkin'

Love Donna emoticon

Hi Donna - I'm sure your family will be glad when you're home again, but your daughter will certainly miss all your help. I'm glad she's recovering and is able to get out and about a bit. Take care,

Happy October everyone!!

Wednesday, October 05, 2011

Hi..things are going smoothly so far today..daughter and I just came back from a nice walk..what a beautiful day :)

The granddaughters will be home soon then it's snack time, change out of school clothes and off to dig the remaining potatoes. I'll throw in a load of clothes to wash..can't do anything noisy as the boyfriend is on the night shift and is sleeping till late afternoon!!

Supper will be October fest of smokies, potatoes, carrots, onions and cabbage all boiled together..dessert will be apple strudel or apple pie :) We had spincah salad for lunch.

I missed being home for hubby's birthday yesterday but I can't be everywhere and daughter needs me here now. I will be going back home for a short time in about a week...then back here to help more...

I'd like to thank you all for the suggestions for things to do..why is it it's the things you can't do that you want to do when you can't do them? The little girls will keep mommy's boredom down quite a bit...The nine year old will be turning 10 on the 17th so we have a party to plan..then there's also Thanksgiving and Halloween and I can't believe how much stuff kids and schools do these's non stop!! Makes a Grandma tired!! They do gymnastics and skating, too...

It's gonna take me a long time to rest up from least I'm keeping very active :)

Hope your October is going great....I need to work on some rough goals to finish up this far I've been refreshing the page.. emoticon

...getting lots of exercise.... emoticon

....keeping to small servings and lots of fruits and veggies.. emoticon.

....Sparkin' daily and blogging and getting points etc... emoticon

    Yay Donna!

So glad you're back blogging. I love reading your stories! Sounds like you're daughter is coming right along, probably thats due to all of your wonderful help. I know the grandkids must be keeping you very busy. I know when I spend the day with mine, I am exhausted at the end of the day. If I had to do it everyday, I'd never make it for very long. It is too bad you had to miss your hubby's birthday. I'm sure he wishes you were home to help him celebrate and to help him with the chores. It seems you can't get away from the chores no matter where you go, right?
I love your Oct. goals. Especially about enjoying nature and finding balance.
Take care of yourself, don't stress, just enjoy.

Any ideas to help my very bored daughter while she recovers from major surgery?

Tuesday, October 04, 2011

Hi..Plans have changed so now I'm onto plan D or maybe E? Daughter had her hysterectomy and was not the major incision kind so she got out of the hospital early..Saturday actually so I'm up here for a couple weeks or more and also some back and forth trips..because October is a really busy month for our place..pasture take out, etc.

First on to my daughter..she has 6 weeks or more of recovery time and is having a hard time with being bored...she is usually so active ...any's only been a couple days and she's really bored..tired of tv, the internet and'll be a couple more weeks till she can even drive. The granddaughters come home today after gymnastics..they are with the other grandma for a while. That may help. So far I have been doing a little housework, meals and laundry. I didn't get all the stuff made that I wanted to since she got home early.

Also hubby and I didn't make it to Saskatoon for Sunday and Monday since I was already here. So today is hubby's birthday and I'm here and he's at home :( oh well I can't be everywhere!! I did make him a cake before I left and he opened his gifts..too..but I've phone lots and he's not been in...

The Ladies Luncheon was tons of fun.. our table theme was Road kill café..and my friend and I were dressed up in overalls and caps..I had a name patch.. Bubba, that's my nickname..our menu was deer sausage, cheese and crackers, tossed salad..aka ditch weeds with 3 types of dressing...used oil and vinegar, road ranch, 1000 miles from no where, main course was prairie chicken wings, porcupine meatballs, "grilled" vegetables and monkey wrench bread..dessert was grasshopper pie and for snack we had nuts and bolts and beef jerky.

Then I left early from the luncheon and went home, packed up and drove here..around a 3 hour drive. I think I'm staying until next Tuesday so I'm home for the first round up on Wednesday and take out on Thursday..then back up here for the weekend and help Granddaughter celebrate her 10th birthday :) Not sure what we'll plan for that..doing that should help distract daughter once her girls get here...also her live in boyfriend is on the night shift this week and next week so it makes it hard to do any noisy jobs while he sleeps during the day, like laundry, vacuuming, etc.

Well I should get working on some October goals..I have started to refresh my spark page and my theme is change..lots of changes here..besides the obvious leaves changing, my lifestyle change, my body hopefully changing for the smaller..also at 53 I have my own "changes" going on and now daughter has had a complete there will be lots of changes there..

Here in Canada we also have Thanksgiving in October as well as Halloween and fall is one of my most favorite times of the year. Driving thru the changing leaves gives me great pleasure..I love the trees on the way to Weyburn and then on Saturday I came up through the Lumsden and Craven valleys where the leaves are almost done there.I went to Humboldt yesterday for groceries..quite near my daughter's and the trees are still beautiful and colorful!! I was getting a couple of sale turkeys and my cart was near a ladder and this repair man was climbing down and almost into my cart..he said I'd have to take him to the checkout and pay for I came back with the sign said..limit of 2 turkeys.. haha..oh yeah..October is also laughter month...

Better go for now..thanks for dropping by and keep on sparkin' and keep on changing..

Oh yes..please share any ideas for a bored 30 year old who has to lay around for 6 weeks..also any jokes would be fun..I need the laugh :)

Love Donna emoticon

I'm glad that your daughter is on the mend and that you are able to be with her for a while. Is she interested in any kind of crafts? Perhaps you could teach her to knit or crochet? Make scrapbooks, organize photographs?

Your road kill cafe sounds marvellous! Maybe I could adopt the idea for a fund-raiser at church... we need something different! Afraid that some of the stogy old Anglicans (lovely ladies but don't want to try new things!) would be horrified.

Take care, enjoy the time with your daughter and granddaughters.

Hi.sorry it's been sooo loong since I blogged!!

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Hi..Where has September gone??

Today my oldest daughter, 30 had major surgery..woman stuff and will be in the hospital days. Hubby and I will go visit her Sunday and Monday and then I'll go up and stay for awhile and help with the little girls.

I talked to her for a short time today and she's in a lot of pain.. :( Rest is best, for now!

It's been a wild month that has just flown by!! I've learned lots and lots of stuff..i.n my September theme :) Lately we've been painting the outside of the house and tinned the rest of the quonset and painted the front..the weather has been very summerlike for fall!! Hubby has recovered some from his broken rib but should still take it easy but doesn't. Baling is almost finished.

I've been busy getting ready for a Ladies Luncheon on Saturday, it's a fund raiser and a friend and I are doing a table..for eight, provide food, them, decorations and a's been a blast..I'll tell you the theme later as it's top secret :)

I've also been cooking up a storm to take to my daughters next week. Then there's hubby's goes on and on and I'm ready for a break. Today I'm doing a bit of baking and housework and still have the garden to finish cleaning up. October is always one of the busiest months and it's looking true to form so far..we have cattle round ups and take out and also round up and sell our own calves and haul bales and bales and get the add me being gone to help daughter..oh yes..I also have a job opportunity that looks very interesting..too bad it's such a busy time!! Still thinking on it.....

The September learning has been going good..been working hard at remembering the vitamins, water and exercise..been riding bike or yoga or just plain work daily..foods been not bad but haven't started tracking again and the weight isn't moving very fast. but it is inching back to my tracker...I have the spark page all refreshed and am thinking about what will be new for next month!! I've done some fall cleaning..started on a major closet and of course the outside painting!! Fall farm work is winding down..just the bales and cattle to help with love love the fall colors..nature's exceptional beauty!! I love fall :) Have been using my new camera some and can't wait to bring it to my daughter's (since her boyfriend is a photographer) and get some help with has an in-camera owners manual that I'm struggling with....I'm also bringing along my hot stone massage kit to my daughters and we'll experiment with it..I thought I might make up some kits for Christmas gifts..I can find lots and lots of stones here!!

The workshop Beauty is Soul Deep has been great so to read everybody's progress but haven't done a lot of journaling myself yet...

Well hubby should be back from baling any time now and we are going to check our far away herd and go out for supper....I'll try to be good :)

Thanks for stopping by ..Keep on Sparkin'...Keep on learning

I can relate to being to busy to blog daily. I'm trying to spend more time outside and less on the computer.
You always sound like the busiest person I have ever known. With all the physical work you do daily I'm sure you will be dropping those pounds real fast.
I don't know why but you're work always sounds like fun to me. I'm sure it isn't to you as you do it all the time.
I sure hope you're getting some rest in there once in a while.

You have such a busy life, and so different from mine even though we live in the same country, that I love to read your blogs.

Take care; enjoy your grand-daughters.

Beauty is Soul Deep workshop...

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

Hi..just a quick catch up for the Beauty is Soul Deep workshop..yesterday's angel message was "Peace comes from remembering that only love is real"..then my friend dedicated her blog meditation fo the Beauty is Soul Deep group...her web site is.. She said to pass it on to friends to enjoy, too.

Today's was a style tip...get rid of one thing from your closet and start a $ jar and put in what ever you can afford..$5 to $50 for a surprise the last week (put the same amount in each week)

Today we woke up to frost this that's the end of my garden..I did pick all my tomatoes yesterday and the underground stuff is all okay. Now I need to clean up the garden and the flowers...

I went along to town today while hubby got a trailer tire repaired. We got the mail, did a bit of grocery shopping and got fuel for the pasture truck...

I've been finding lots of lessons and ideas to work toward my healthy living goal :) a couple great things I found were 10 ways to lower sodium intake, ways to save at the grocery store and I thought this was a fun idea..make 20 or so index cards with new exercise ideas/routines and put in a box and pull one out when you need to mix it up....

Now for more advice from nature...

Advice from a Tree....

Stand tall and proud

Sink your roots deeply into the earth

Be content with your natural beauty

Go out on a limb

Drink plenty of water

Remember your roots

Enjoy the view!!

Love love love "Advice from a Tree" and will have to remember to do all those things.

Your Beauty is Soul Deep workshop sounds terrific.

My lunch salad today was an Autumn Fruit and Grilled Chicken version with mesclun, chopped almonds and a maple vinaigrette -- at my golf course. It included apple, peach and pear . . . a combo I would never have thought of, but it was delicious!!
