We've had a busy week so far..Monday we fixed and filled the community pasture cattle oilers, then to town for mail and groceries..mail is still not caught up since the strike..got a bill that was already past due :( and still don't have the credit card bill that's due mid month so yesterday when we were in Weyburn with a trailer load of cattle for the sale I paid at the store...

...had coffee with the in-laws..the knee replacement is going great!! We had to round up the cattle from 2 different pastures so it was an adventure.

Today hubby put out salt in the pastures and then rode with the rider to check. We have a dead cow in the community pasture..lightning..so we needed the vet for an autopsy for insurance the vet was out this afternoon and it was lightning. We moved some stuff out of the way to make room in the shop for hubby to put the best truck in since we have a storm warning for tonight and don't want hail on it!!!

I did lots of laundry and some gardening today..enjoyed a salad of fresh garden lettuce and homegrown cherry tomatoes :) Tonight Hubby has started to cut hay....saw a cute thing yesterday..instead of a vacation, or a staycation have a haycation..a vacation on a farm :) yup..just like here!!!

Our make up slo-pitch game that was rescheduled for tonight is rescheduled for August, we hope to still play our league game on Friday..next Friday I'm helping put on a bridal shower so I can't play.

On Sunday I'm meeting oldest daughter in Regina so she can borrow our tent and sleeping bags for her college reunion ...I hope to meet up with my sister too.

July has just flown by..how can it be almost half over??

Hope you're all having a wonderful summer and thanks for dropping by and Keep on Sparkin' emoticon

Some of the things on your list I had already decided to do this summer. I found an old pair of flip flops in the closet and have been trying to wear them today, but it really bothers my feet in between my toes. Will just have to keep trying. Thank you so much for the emails. The prayer I will be keeping and saying, the one colors is going to be the basis for Gabe's health project. I came up with a pretty good idea for a poster
So, thanks for the blessing and thanks for the inspiration.
God bless you my friend in what ever area you need a blessing

Love the Summer list! It all sounds sooooo good. I got a great idea! emoticon Maybe you should open up your place or a guest house on your property and have people come for a haycation. They can work on a real farm. (and you get free help!)
Just a thought. emoticon Just what you need, more people around to worry about right?
Have fun this summer and take care of your self! emoticon

Resting from slo-pitch!!

Sunday, July 10, 2011

Hi..we played 4 slo-pitch games this week and I'm feeling my age!!

We had a make up game on Monday, then our regular league game Friday then playing in a tournament yesterday with my son and his girlfriend at a local fair. They were all kids, 20 somethings!! w got into the A final :)

At Friday's game hubby was playing great!! Home run and lots of great hits and plays..the team asked him what happened this week for all the pent up anger... so we told them about the tractor fuel..I didn't think much of that was "pent up" haha...so then the team asked me what I was gonna do this week to piss him off!!
We have 2 games this week..

Runnings not too bad with my sore toe and it's getting better..probably not broken as the swelling is going down and I can bend it now.

I've been resting up today but I did do chores and some lawn mowing and laundry and talked on the phone lots. Also watched the Calgary Stampede on TV.

I did make up the treat bags for when the little girls are here for swim lessons in a few weeks. And I've been surfing the web for ideas for the cooking camp..lots of cool stuff!!

Well hubby's in for supper..gotta run..thanks for dropping by..keep on Sparkin'

Sounds as though you are going to have the camp cook out really ready to roll when the time comes. I like the idea of treat bags. All kids like those kinds of things.
God bless you my dear friend

Love the "treat bag" ideas for the little girls . . . when my husband and I went on holidays, we'd leave behind one tiny gift per day per child to open (eg a special balloon, a bottle of bubble fluid with wand) all wrapped up!! Our kids got a kick out of these little things . . . but have to say, it was the parents (me) who provided them.

And: that was a LOT of slo-pitch!!

July...Spark collage...How to live in flip flops!!!

Thursday, July 07, 2011

Hi..I decided to do a still life Spark collage of a few of my favorite inspirational things for July...My theme is freedom (live in flip flops) and orange ice pops..yum yum..only 35 calories :)

How to live in flip flops....

I hope you find your flip flop self...a life in flip flops is a cheery life ( it's hard to take ourselves seriously when our shoes make funny noises). It's a slow life (difficult to run in such floppy shoes). It's easy and sunny. It's a life as silly and sweet as the designs on our feet...

This is from the cute little book I bought a couple of weeks ago..it's by Sandy Gingras.

I'm glad I finally made a Spark collage..I was procrastinating for so long and it was really quick :) I'll use it for July's background....hope you like it :)

Today was a very hot day..hubby went to the pasture and put out more oil in the oilers and did some repairs and then put out salt, the rider checked the herd. I put out salt and minerals in the 4 home pastures, did a.m. chores, did laundry, watered the garden, mowed some grass..after lunch I went to town for mail, groceries, water and visited a friend and brought her a birthday gift..her birthday was yesterday...I stayed longer then planned since she has air conditioning :)

I got home in time for supper..Bbq pork chops, baked potatoes and corn on the cob. Then we read a bit of mail and then did night chores..hubby's back in the field and I'm back at the computer....

My toe is still quite sore but we have a slo-pitch game tomorrow and I hope to play..I'm sure I won't run any slower than usual...haha :)

Well I should sign off for now..thanks for dropping by my spark page..hope you like the new up date :)

Keep on Sparkin' and enjoy summer..dig out your flip flops

And I LIVE in flip flops all summer long! I have a HUGE plastic bin of 'em, in every color!

One can NEVER own too many flip flops! emoticon

Nice collage, and I will enjoy seeing when I visit you. As for flip flops, they make sores between my toes so I don't wear them. I do have striped feet though from wearing sandals. My feet look pretty funny. You can definetly tell I have gotten some sun.
Hope the toe is better nothing pains more than when part of your feet hurts.
God bless, my dear

Very nice collage! I still haven't done mine yet. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for, guess I need some more spark imagination.
Love your new profile pic. also. All that work around your ranch must be doing some good. Looks like you must have the fountain of youth there.

Sounds like a busy, but also easy going day. I spent time with a friend yesterday, and we spent longer that I thought, but it was encouraging and fun.
I like your collage. Carefree and easy going.

Life is the sum of all your choices...

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Hi..this will just be a quick blog..since I've already written yesterday's blog today and now I'm catching up on today's....

We finished the summerfallow today..the fuel gauge isn't working and I ran the tractor out of fuel so hubby is not impressed..how was I to know the gauge wasn't working? Now there's air in the fuel line and hubby doesn't have patience for that and I feel bad..what a cycle....

I was so hot when I got in from the afternoon of field work I went for a swim in the dugout and did a few laps..what a nice cool off :) I should have thrown hubby in (did I mention he can't swim ?)

Well I caught up on a few phone calls tonight and have some laundry to finish so like I said this will be a short blog....I also dropped a piece of machinery on my toe and it's really sore..it went through my shoe and poked my toe and it's bloody and swollen :( Don't you find when stuff isn't going right you get a whole lot more accident prone? Or is it just me?

Well..if life is the sum of all your choices I have to choose not to let hubby's bad mood upset me!! Hope all your choices today are good ones....

...Thanks for dropping by..keep on Sparkin'

Honey, tossing hubby in when he can't swim is more than cruel and unusual punishment. I know, I can't swim and if that happened to me I would totally freak out. Love the water but only so high and that is about waist high.
God bless Barb

It does seem like things go wrong in a series. It may be stress, it may be being overworked and tired. Or maybe it's just Murphy playing pranks on the universe...

This is yesterday's blog!!

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Hi all I'm a day late with this blog..I was just ready to type it yesterrday morning when hubby clled from his cell in the pasture and needed more cattle drugs so off I went with the quad to bring them some...

I like the quote that I found in a spark article..Vacation is what you take when you can't teke what you've been taking any longer...Lion from Wizard of Oz :)

Yes..I need to make my stay-cation a little more relaxing and get into summer mode..mentally if not physically :)

Ater I got back from the pasture I watered in the garden, found some strawberries from my new plants my son gave me for mother's day :) yum yum...had lunch..bbq burgers, baked potatoes and carrots....went to town for fuel and mail..the mail is still all backed up since the strike and I'm sure we'll finally get a bunch of bills all past due..grrrrr!!

After we got back from town I spent the rest of the day cultivating summerfallow..my tractor doesn't have air conditioning so I was hot..like a sauna..hope I sweated away a few pounds :) rendered some blubber, etc...when I came in to make supper I had sweat rings on my shirt under my boobs!! haha. For supper I made gingerr beef and rice and put lots of onions and peppers in the beef :)

We had company in the evening so we relaxed and visited over beer...they may be back later for some cats :)

I had a full and fun day....my knee is scabbed over nicely and I do feel like I'm 12 and fell off my bilke..haha.

When I was in Weyburn on Monday I picked up a few things for when the grandkids come for swim lessons..camp.grammy :) oldest little girl wanted to go to a cooking camp in S'toon this summer but wasn't able so I'm doing it like cooking camp..should be fun :) I can't wait to have the little sweeties for 2 whole weeks :) Anybody have any ideas how to do a cooking camp?? haha..they are 6 and 9....

Well, I'm back from quadding the 4 home herds this a.m. and chores, etc so I shoould whip up some coffee to take to hubby in the field and get back on my tractor....time to render more blubber....people actually pay for steam baths..I get mine for free :)

Take care and keep on Sparkin' and thanks for dropping by...

Danna, I can tell that you are excited about the grandkids coming. I used to do camping out in the backyard with the grandkids quite some time ago. We did the weiner roast and smores. I always had them make some salads to go with us ahead of time. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get around toreading your blogs, but it seems as though the time gets away from me and I do make sure I do what ever it takes to get my 100 points for the day.
Want to read the rest of your blogs
God bless my friend

Maybe you can figure out a way to market your mobile sauna!

I think that it would be great to try to incorporate lots of fruits and veggies into your "cooking camp" plans. Let them plan a meal with what you have in the garden, go out and harvest it, prepare it for cooking/serving, etc. I'll bet they can come up with some unique menus!

Have a good "cooking camp".

Love your version of a steam bath: sounds way more productive to me!! Bet your grandkids love the "cooking camp": I found my kids at that age enjoyed making portrait cakes (eg chocolate curls for brown hair, brown smarties for eyes) . . . bet they'll enjoy picking fresh stuff from your garden and then cooking it too . . . strawberry shortcake?

You are such a busy lady! It's pretty hot here in Western North Carolina, high 80's low 90's. We've had some rain recently so luckily we not in drought conditions.Have fun on the tractor. We have a Kubota tractor and do lots with it. I can't drive it tho as the BH thinks he's the only one who can. I don't think he trusts me on it. Have a good day.
