This is yesterday's blog!!

Wednesday, July 06, 2011

Hi all I'm a day late with this blog..I was just ready to type it yesterrday morning when hubby clled from his cell in the pasture and needed more cattle drugs so off I went with the quad to bring them some...

I like the quote that I found in a spark article..Vacation is what you take when you can't teke what you've been taking any longer...Lion from Wizard of Oz :)

Yes..I need to make my stay-cation a little more relaxing and get into summer mode..mentally if not physically :)

Ater I got back from the pasture I watered in the garden, found some strawberries from my new plants my son gave me for mother's day :) yum yum...had lunch..bbq burgers, baked potatoes and carrots....went to town for fuel and mail..the mail is still all backed up since the strike and I'm sure we'll finally get a bunch of bills all past due..grrrrr!!

After we got back from town I spent the rest of the day cultivating summerfallow..my tractor doesn't have air conditioning so I was hot..like a sauna..hope I sweated away a few pounds :) rendered some blubber, etc...when I came in to make supper I had sweat rings on my shirt under my boobs!! haha. For supper I made gingerr beef and rice and put lots of onions and peppers in the beef :)

We had company in the evening so we relaxed and visited over beer...they may be back later for some cats :)

I had a full and fun day....my knee is scabbed over nicely and I do feel like I'm 12 and fell off my bilke..haha.

When I was in Weyburn on Monday I picked up a few things for when the grandkids come for swim lessons..camp.grammy :) oldest little girl wanted to go to a cooking camp in S'toon this summer but wasn't able so I'm doing it like cooking camp..should be fun :) I can't wait to have the little sweeties for 2 whole weeks :) Anybody have any ideas how to do a cooking camp?? haha..they are 6 and 9....

Well, I'm back from quadding the 4 home herds this a.m. and chores, etc so I shoould whip up some coffee to take to hubby in the field and get back on my tractor....time to render more blubber....people actually pay for steam baths..I get mine for free :)

Take care and keep on Sparkin' and thanks for dropping by...

Love Donna

Danna, I can tell that you are excited about the grandkids coming. I used to do camping out in the backyard with the grandkids quite some time ago. We did the weiner roast and smores. I always had them make some salads to go with us ahead of time. Sounds like a lot of fun.
Sorry it has taken me so long to get around toreading your blogs, but it seems as though the time gets away from me and I do make sure I do what ever it takes to get my 100 points for the day.
Want to read the rest of your blogs
God bless my friend

Maybe you can figure out a way to market your mobile sauna!

I think that it would be great to try to incorporate lots of fruits and veggies into your "cooking camp" plans. Let them plan a meal with what you have in the garden, go out and harvest it, prepare it for cooking/serving, etc. I'll bet they can come up with some unique menus!

Have a good "cooking camp".

Love your version of a steam bath: sounds way more productive to me!! Bet your grandkids love the "cooking camp": I found my kids at that age enjoyed making portrait cakes (eg chocolate curls for brown hair, brown smarties for eyes) . . . bet they'll enjoy picking fresh stuff from your garden and then cooking it too . . . strawberry shortcake?

You are such a busy lady! It's pretty hot here in Western North Carolina, high 80's low 90's. We've had some rain recently so luckily we not in drought conditions.Have fun on the tractor. We have a Kubota tractor and do lots with it. I can't drive it tho as the BH thinks he's the only one who can. I don't think he trusts me on it. Have a good day.

Laughter is an instant vacation :)

Sunday, July 03, 2011

Hi..today is truly a day of rest here!! I survived the 100th birthday party..woohoo but I'm drained!! Yesterday we were up bright and early and enjoyed the pancake breakfast..I ate in moderation..2 small pancakes and a couple little sausages and coffee :)

Then we did the walking tour to read what all the business had been around town..yes''planned fitness " after breakfast. then settled in for the parade..which was great! Then we picked up some groceries and headed home for a quick bite of lunch..sandwich and salad. Hubby spent the day working on machinery and I did some mowing and chores. Then we were back in town by 4:30 for my shift at the community roast beef supper..We served over 400 and it was around 8:30 when we finally finished up..my feet and legs are killing me!! Oh, I forgot to mention I fell after watching the parade while I was carrying the chair back to the truck..I'm sure I've told you before what a klutz I am...so I have a big lump on my knee and some road rash...

Hubby picked me up and he grabbed a quick bite to eat before we headed to the second working shift at the beer gardens..it was fun and lots of laughs...we then walked up to the park to watch the fireworks..great...and back to the street dance for a drink and some visiting. We got home very late!! That is why I'm dragging today, plus neighbor phoned at 7 am to get help getting his tractor unstuck...so much for sleeping in.

Today I did some chores and mowed some grass and feed it to the critters. Then after lunch I quadded the 4 home herds while hubby worked some more on the harrows and now he's off harrowing the last field :)

After I wrap this up I'm gonna put some chicken pieces in the oven to bake and have some baked potatoes and a salad for supper.

I hope you are all having a fabulous long weekend!!! For all my American friends..enjoy your holiday tomorrow!!

Oh my! As always you are so very busy and also manage to have such a fantastic positive attitude! As for falling well, I've fallen twice in the last month, mosttly from rushing around to fast and not paying attention when I should.
Take care and hope you can fit in some down time.

Glad you had a good time at your festivities.

The festivities I will attend started today -- pie social at an old community hall close to the Canadian border. Got some visiting done.

Now I'm home doing a little Sparking and e-mail catch up to wait for the thunderstorm and then off to a street dance, with pancake breakfast afterward (starting 11 p.m.). I skip tonight's rodeo, not really a fan...

Tomorrow is a parade and the community barbecue and a pie auction fund raiser for the local volunteer ambulance service. Another pie social and then kill time until fireworks at dark.

I missed out on a wedding reception/dance and a 100 year ranch birthday on Friday night and an all class reunion dinner Saturday. Too tired from long days at work and didn't graduate from that school although I do know lots of the people.

Busy...

I hope you enjoyed your day of relaxation.

What an event packed weekend - so sorry you hurt yourself. I'm also a person who trips and falls over my own feet way too often; not graceful at all!!

You and your DH are obviously a mainstay in your community: people everyone knows that they can rely upon.

Our Canada Day fireworks here were terrific also: really enjoyed watching them . . . Charlie (our golden retriever) not nearly so much!!).

Hi..just got home from the second day of the 100th party!! We just went to the KFC supper and a bit of the beer garden, over to the ice cream shop and the souvenir store, etc Tomorrow is pancake breakfast, parade..home for awhile then in to work at the beef supper and a couple bar shifts during the cabaret and then the fireworks..we aren't attending Sunday at all..need to rest up :)

Before we went in for supper I did morning chores, Quadded the community pasture, hubby worked on machinery then harrow-packed and I worked up a field to be seeded to oats for swath grazing. I had about 10 minutes left of the field when the tractor ran out of fuel so I filled the truck tank and pumped fuel into the tractor then it wouldn't start so when hubby finished harrowing he bled the fuel lines and got it running again...

I've had another roller coaster day with my daughter..so wish me well with dealing with her..
It causes such a hole in my heart to have her so depressed and nothing I can say or do makes any difference :(

Well..I should get to bed..pancakes start early tomorrow...Hope you had a Happy Canada Day and everyone enjoy the long weekend :) Thanks for dropping by..remember....

Decide. Commit. Succeed.

You're always one choice away from changing your life!

Friday, July 01, 2011

Hi..We just got home from the first day of the next 100th Birthday celebration for a town near us ...tonight was the registration and coffee and donuts and then the beer gardens and DJ music..the DJ is a friends daughter from the slo-pitch team, and we sat with our team most of the time :)

It's a beautiful night and when we got home we have northern lights in the sky tonight :) I love them, so it's a treat to see them. I do love to connect with nature.

This morning I quadded all the home herds and all was fine, then when hubby came home from the pasture we put together my new lawn mower and it takes about 5 minutes to fill the bag and I carried and dumped them to the critters.. I only did about 7 bags and then it was off to help hubby move stuff around and then I worked some summerfallow and then we had late supper and then we went to town....

My recap of June is...I need to make better food choices so I can get back to my tracker..I'm not too far out of whack but I don't want to raise it!! I know \i can get back to that weight and loose even more and meet my goal...just have to recommit to tracking food and exercise and work at streaks again....

We all know what to do..EAT LESS/MOVE MORE..how come it's so hard sometimes to make the right choices??

My theme for June was family...It has been a real struggle with my depressed daughter. I've visited my son and attended my cousin's son's wedding. I've had many phone calls from both daughters...I sawoldest daughter and son the first week in June for branding, plus son was here one other weekend. Both my sisters were here for the 100th party last weekend as well as all those cousins :)
June has really been the month for families :)

I've made lots of healthy choices with foods and exercise as all the fresh fruits and veggies have been on the menu and June always means yard work, gardening, cattle work and field work..ya..I've been active..also included lots of rain clean ups that weren't planned.

I refreshed my page to watermelon colors and used a watermelon emoticon on my blogs...

I did fun things for me..like found new books and websites to get inspiration from, we played 5 slo-pitch games already this summer.

July's theme will be summer..freedom...vacation (or in my case..staycation)

I want to get streaking..no, not that kind...but logging on everyday..tracking... points..all the stuff that helped me loose the first half of the weight!!

Dare I say..get back on track for the umpteenth time...remember..one choice away from changing my life...I'm ready to jump back in with both feet and get paddling like crazy..oh yeah and swim in the dug out to cool off :)

Live in flip-flops, kick back..drink iced tea and enjoy summer..hope you do too!!

Thanks for stopping by for a chat..Keep on Sparkin'

Happy Canada Day: don't you just love this great country of ours? (Although it's not typically Canadian to be quite that open about our patriotism, is it? But we all know how we feel!!)
