Better late than never... May recap...

Monday, June 06, 2011

Hi..I have a few spare's 10 am..I've tidied the the third load of clothes in the wash...fed the calf it's bottle..watered the plants..repotted some herbs and have dinner started so I'm taking a couple minutes to sit in my favorite seat in living room with lap top , big stack of books and magazines and a quart sealer of water beside me :) and my feet up...

Time to recap May and get on with June :)

May's theme was health and I have been focusing on health more than actual weight loss ..since my weight has been creeping back :( At least I'm at a better place mentally so that's a start...

emoticonNutrition..well I've been over eating all month..when I work like a man unfortunately I eat like a man, not good..time to get back on track!! Also hubby loves road trips when it rains and we've had about 6 1/2 " in May..too many meals away...

emoticonActive living..been way active but just been over June I need to be more structured..I bombed out of boot camp after the first week..too many other things happening..

emoticonSelf care..did something nice for me at least daily (hockey play offs included) and spark time and just all those road trips..a couple were shopping sprees...

emoticonMental my happy back..bought lots of books to get back on track..especially Louise Hay...great positive thinking affirmations, etc..

emoticonMay year on Spark ..thanks for all the well wishes and it's been a great year..half way to my goal...

emoticonMay 18..celebrate my birthday..thanks for all the birthday wishes
I had a great day and I'm still my 2 best friends are coming over this afternoon for a belated party with tea and cake..woo hoo you're never too old to party...

emoticonTea parties..didn't have nearly enough tea in May..will try to drink more in June and have it after supper instead of snacking!! I found a cute box of Tea deck cards with neat info and recipes..I like the idea of cool damp tea bags on tired eyes :)..for sure I'm having a tea party today :) I love it when Spark friends mention that they think of me when they have tea :) cheers

emoticonGardening..I have my garden all in and most is up..thanks to a very dear spark friend I have tons of onions popping up every where :) I'll be thinking of her every time we have onions :) I tried lots of new kinds of squash not just zucchini and pumpkin so hope that turns out..started way too many peppers so hope at least some grow..can't wait for the fresh veggies not to mention the exercise of gardening...

emoticonYard work..speaking of exercise..the grass mowing has completely gotten away on me so I could mow grass with my trusty little push mower for 8 hours a day and still never catch riding one is a piece of junk and our yard is not really great for a riding mower..last year everytime I used it it broke down and then hubby would get mad..he even suggested I get a goat instead!! haha!! so off I go to mow grass and hope we don't get over 6 " of rain in June!!! I got my new clothes line up. And all my bedding plant flowers are looking good. The apple blossoms are just coming out and the lilacs are almost open, such a late cool spring...

emoticonRefresh my spark page..check..I had it bright blue and lime green for may and now I have it lime green and bright pink..makes me think of watermelons..or maybe margaritas and strawberry ice cream..haha..still can't get my but in gear and do a Spark collage..but I get inspired to create one when I see the awesome jobs other member have done on theirs!! one of these months.. I am the world's worst procrastinator...I does feel good to be creative, tho...

emoticonThe last goal was to make the scale budge but I should have been more specific since it moved up instead of down..maybe June's goal for weight shall be just get back to my ticker!!!

At least I feel I have made progress towards being main goal :) for the month!!

Here's to Health and fitness and progress with healthy habits...

Later I'll blog some June goals..thanks for stopping by..I'm off to mow a bit of grass before lunch...

Love Donna emoticon

You've done very well overall in May because the most important thing was to get that happy back: and you did!!

I'm one of those who thinks of you whenever I have a cup of tea!

Just a suggestion to motivating yourself to do a spark collage, why not sit in your favorite chair, feet up, a cup of tea and spend some time doing it. That way you will enjoy it. Just a thought.

I should get to bed..checked one herd of cows with hubby and the truck..then after lunch I checked 4 other herds with the quad..didn't get stuck today :)

Went along to town for repairs and then hubby went out to the field..I mowed grass, watered plants, cleaned house, did laundry...bottle fed the calf..talked to the kids and a friend on the phone and now I'm off to bed...

Had a long but productive day..oh yeah..I weeded all the potatoes too.

Better call it a night..thanks for dropping by..keep on sparkin' emoticon

More adventures in June...

Saturday, June 04, 2011

Hi..I didn't get much rest today. Got up really early and was back at it this morning..we finished with the cattle and moved the last herd home..then checked all the other herds and put out salt...then off to town for mail and supplies...then back home to check the cattle in the community pasture...we got stuck about 2 or 3 miles from home so had a lovely walk to get another truck to pull out the stuck truck...Mosquitoes have way there and then pouring rain the rest of the way..we got the truck unstuck then the cattle checked then home for a late supper.

It was a terribly windy day today..I moved all my pots out of the wind so the plants wouldn't break off.

We were supposed to have a slo-pitch game tonight but the other team canceled. We have a tournament tomorrow..first game at 9 am and and two more games in the afternoon..can't's always fun, hope it's not raining...

Better get to's getting late..will try to blog tomorrow..
Thanks for stopping by..keep on Sparkin' emoticon

Anytime you deal with livestock there is always something to be done. Never a dull moment or it seems like rest either. Blessings

Well Donna you are very busy. Such different cattle management for me. My cattle are on 1500 acres of my private grass above my house from May until the end of June and then off to Crown grazing (40 km) away until mid October or the snow drives them out - whichever happens first - I am the only range user on 75000 acres so that is really, really great. I can certainly relate to your adventures - nothing better than a brisk walk because the truck got stuck emoticon I have started the irrigation now and only took me a couple of days to remember why they are called "irritation pipes" . Sunny and gorgeous here yesterday and looks like today as well.

Hope your slo-pitch game was lots of good times.

The day from least it's June :)

Friday, June 03, 2011

Hi..this will not be my recap of May or new June goals..just a quick blog to tell you about my day... started with me helping hubby with chores, then he left with rider for a pasture take in and I watered my plants, mowed grass, wrote out the big plywood sign of which cattle go where..yes today was the dreaded..sort cattle for pastures day from hell...while writing out the list on the plywood I used old eartag pens and I couldn't get the lid off one so I really pulled hard and it splattered ink all over the board and my hands :( The package says the product is known to cause cancer in California..good thing I'm not in California :)

..then we had an early dinner of deer sausages and potatoes and corn..then off to round up the herd and move to the corrals for guessed it ..the day from hell.
We had the rider and a neighbor help round up..then another neighbor came to help, too. The round up took forever..they didn't want to move :(..then the rider had to leave for a rodeo..he's a bull fighter on weekends. So the rest of us sorted and revaccinated all the cows and calves. They needed to be sorted into 5 different pastures. That part only took about 2 hours..after a quick beer break and the neighbors left..then we started counting and mothering up the pairs and moving them to pastures....this part always takes forever if things work out, today, not so much..we got a couple herds moved then the next herd didn't count out right and we discovered we had a cow with no calf that was already moved to the farthest sorted her off into a pen to haul her to the pasture..moved that third was about 5:30 pm by then..had big wind and drenching rain and pelted hail..we were on quads...moved the cow with the trailer to her calf..stopped for quick supper and back at the corrals...the last 2 herds got mixed together while we were make a long story short..we ae back in the yard after 10 pm...I'm covered from head to toe in manure, wet and cold, sunburned, bruised. lumps and bumps..and exhausted!! Working cattle from noon til 10 pm was a very long day...

..and we'll have to finish tomorrow by bringing home the last herd in daylight....
of course hubby had a melt down...

Well I'm so ready for bed..thanks for stopping by..keep onSparkin emoticon

Oh my gosh Donna! You poor thing. I don't know how you can do it! It sounds exhausting but it also sounds so rewarding. I really hope you can catch a break with the weather soon Hope your day tomorrow is sunny warm and the cows all go to their correct pastures all by their selves.
