Just a quick blog...

Thursday, May 05, 2011

Hi..just a quick blog..been another busy day..quadded the herd, got a big salt delivery for the community pasture, guys stayed for coffee then hubby and rider went fencing for the day so I held down the fort. We're down to 3 cows to calve so it doesn't take long to check them... it was terribly windy here today!!

I did all the planned fitness and and ate well today and drank lots of water and got lots done around the house. Phoned my oldest daughter for her birthday..she's 30..gosh that makes me feel old!!

When hubby came home from fencing we checked out the oil site and the garbage is blowing all over the fields and pastures and nothing is cleaned up since we talked to the company and contacted |Sask oil and resources :( so I phoned the head of the company again...

Well..thanks for stopping by and keep on Sparkin'

Looks like you'll be having a beautiful day today, just like we're having. It's already above 50F and the sun is shining with just a light wind. I plan to get some yard work done today after I get my project done for Mother's Day and ready to mail off.

I hope you have a wonderful day.

Day 3 of spring shape up challenge and down one pound..woohoo!!

Tuesday, May 03, 2011

Hi..just a quick blog..with my beer and hockey off the phone with my sister who's home from a 2 week trip to Holland with her family..sounded like the trip of a glad she had such a great time!!

I caught up on yesterday's video for the spring challenge and did today's too, as well as 30 mins on bike and usual farm work and some yard work and house work, too. Hubby went to town for some lumber and the mail while I stayed home and puttered.

Been working on my goals and they're coming along and I feel back on track. My cards for keeping me on track are working far I've made exercise one with 6 daily things and 6 extras...a nutrition one also with 6 daily and 6 extras and the other two are the same only house one and self care attempt to get organized and be on track..

I worked today on some recycling projects..I've been really happy with my go green plan on reducing garbage..I sort out all the recycling and take it to town, then the wet scraps go out to the pile and the coffee grounds get put in a separate winter I make woodstove logs of them so I was just going to throw them away for spring and summer but I got a magazine (First for Women) and it had an article called 10 uses for coffee grounds :)

emoticonreduce the appearance of cellulite..mix with olive oil or baby oil and massage then shower it off

emoticonsop up oil spills without scrubbing

emoticontenderize tough cuts of meat (use fresh grounds) coat steak with olive oil, rub with a mixture of 1/3 cup ground coffee and 1/3 cup pepper..chill 30 mins and BBQ

emoticonensure beautiful blooming shrubs..dig in around plants

emoticonadd dimension to brunette hair..steep1/4 cup grounds in 3 cups hot water, let cool, strain and pour over clean damp hair, let sit 2 mins then rinse

I found quite a few I'd like to try and some I've tried already...Go Green!!

Today's daily wisdom..

"Feeling good about yourself involves more than a fit body. Commit yourself to constant self-improvement by challenging your mind as well as your body, and savor the feeling of self-accomplishment"

I've been finding all sorts of fun web sites..and Spark too of course to read and learn :)

Well..the hockey game is in overtime but I'm not sure I'll stay awake til the end, I stayed up after midnight watching the election last night...

Thanks for stopping by..keep on Sparkin'

Good tips on the use for coffee grounds. I am not a BIG coffee drinker but I do like my morning cup of coffee. If this darn weather ever warms up it is great to sit on the deck and watch the sun come up with a cup of good strong coffee emoticon

Hey, I really like the idea of the different uses for the coffee grounds. A couple I knew about the rest I didn't now if I can just get Jeff to save them for me. He makes the coffee around here because I don't make it strong enough for him.
I also recycle. I have three cans outside. One for our trash, one for tin cans and plastic and one for aluminum cans. I also recycle the newspapers one way or another. I take them to town when I need to and dump everything in the recycling bins there
I did some shopping today and just had to smile about three things I bought. Because I knew I would have to tell you about them. I mainly went to see if I could get some seed potatoes. I got seed potatoes and onions sets reduced to a nickel a pound for both. Then I went roaming and found scrub tops in purple green and blue marked down to one dollar each. I got one of each color above to wear out in the yard this summer. They are made of cotton and will fit loose and be cooler than tshirts. They also have a pocket for my cell phone.
I might win the bargain contest, but I bet you beat me with the weight. I am losing inches right now and not pounds. I lost another 4 inches last month and gained 3lbs. You tell me.
I am glad that you are getting back on track I will have to see what I can do to get myself going down again.
God bless, my friend

Had good news from the accountant..we get an income tax refund instead of having to pay... woohoo. I've been reading some inspirational quotes and decided to share them with you in May.. one each day...of note I wrote down 5 from Louise Hay and one said...

So glad that your feeling much more positive. Hope all your cows and calves are doing well and hopefully you get some permanent spring weather soon.
We were supposed to get a tax refund this year, but the IRS took it to pay for last years we still owed to them. Jeeze, how rude!
Anyway, sounds like you had a good time with shopping and visiting. Good for you!

One year and one day gone and a new day dawns tomorrow???!!!! Thanks for coming by my blog. You always make me smile. Today was very busy but not hectic. My sis is sore, but doing better. I have warned about climbing around like a monkey, we are getting too old for that and we don't bounce as well as we used to.

Did you join the boot camp? I joined the one that is the 28 day challenge for May. It sounds as though you are rip roarin and ready to go. How about 2 pounds off this week for both of us. Want to give it a try? Of course more than two would be great, but I am like you the scale has fluctuated from 170 to 173. I need to get down to 169 and I will have met the goal of no longer being in the obese category.
Glad you are back in to the swing of things
