    Glad you're feeling better.

I sure hope you don't get the storm that's supposed to be heading this way. I see blizzard warnings for just southeast of you.

Have a good weekend.

Missed yesterday's blog..

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Hi..had a busy day yesterday and didn't blog..helped paint the triplets baby room..then felt realy tired when I got home like I'm coming down with a cold again..or the flu..right after supper I fell asleep on the couch, even missed my 11 pm cow check.

After I had the enormous sleep of 11 hours I got quite a lot done today..I quadded the herd, helped hubby with morning chores and he had to help a cat with two dead kittens :( We already have lots of batches of barn kittens already this spring...cleaned and changed up some stuff in the kitchen, had a quick lunch, checked cows to calve while hubby went to an auction sale, rototilled the potato patch to get it ready to plant, transplanted my started veggies and repotted my geraniums and then put them all in my new little greenhouse, I also started some more veggies and a few flowers. Made supper and now I'm watching a hockey game and catching up on Spark...maybe beer time//

on to my 3 mini goals..

nutrition...remembered vitamins and followed the jump start diet

active lots of walking and rototilling in for exercise

self help..setting up new stuff for the kitchen, working on the plants and garden, read in a few new magazines and watching tv :)

Well off to get a beer..thanks for stopping by and keep on Sparkin'

What a day -- Isn't it nice to be able to get out and do yard/garden work? I went to town today and ran a whole bunch of errands, so I didn't get any yard work done. I did notice that I have tulips coming up.

Supposed to storm here tomorrow, are you supposed to get it, too?

Have a good weekend.

Home from Weyburn..

Wednesday, April 27, 2011

Well it's another day..we have another dead calf, a week old one like last week and hubby talked to the vet and he said there's a new kind of pneumonia going around that has no symptoms and to do an autopsy and see what the lungs look like..and it as the pneumonia :( hope we don't loose many more..things are stressed here bad enough..then I went to the basement this morning to make the bed and the water works sprung a leak :( it never rains but it pours..

On a happier note I had my first day of therapy to deal with my stress...I learned I'm an enabler and a doormat and have ACOA tendencies...more good news!! Always helps to get cheered up when you're depressed :)

I had fun at the Dollar store..then I bought some very sickly geraniums at Peavey Mart for .99, I think I felt sorry for them..only to find very nice healthy ones at Walmart for .77 :( So much for bargain shopping.

Now for my 3 mini goals..

Nutrition..followed the Jump start program and avoided any treats at town today :)

Active living..didn't do the Jump start fitness..but did some farm chores and walking...

Self care..enjoyed a nice bubble bath before the water got shut off...bought some magazines and had a pretty good day at Weyburn, ran into lots of friends for a chat, talked to my sister on the phone..all good :)

Well I think it's beer time for the last period of the hockey game..hope the Canucks win..
Thanks for stopping by and Keep on Sparkin'

Sorry to hear about the calves...poor things! And about the water works! Ain't it the truth! When it pours! And it's great that you're looking into alternative ways to cope with your stress! Learning to deal with the stressors in our lives is a great way to improve health & well-being! Cause we all happens!

Donna, I am sorry to hear about still another calf lost. I just pray and believe that tha Lord puts his healing power all around your herd and keeps them all safe. When it rains it pours. The flowers will do fine, take care of them, as I know you will. God bless you and keep your herd safe. Barb

Your sickly geranium story struck a chord with me . . . have done that many a time. Hope that they reward your faith in them!!

And . . . glad that the therapy session was a good start. Life sure can be tough.

Yikes! hope you find what is killing the calves. Sounds like it was a bit stressful around home, I'll bet it was good to get away for a bit. Hope today is better!

Day one of it begins...

Monday, April 25, 2011

Hi..we got started on fence fixing today..we did a couple of miles..a good start and lots of walking..lots of snow breaks. Counting the community pasture we have around 100 miles of fence to fix each spring. I found a wood tick crawling on my neck at suppertime..that's just typical too. It was great to see so many wildflowers blooming..crocuses and buttercups.

I started rereading The Spark and found the place on how to enter the chapters for Spark points..if you noticed on my feed I really messed up trying to write about it..once you put it on your feed you can't edit it..sorry for the confusion...

I started a 21 day Jump start program by Denise Austin..she's one of my favorite motivational diet and exercise gurus :)

My 3 mini goals for today..

nutrition...remembered to take vitamins, drank lots of water, followed Jump start menu for day one..kept calories in line.

active living..did the work out from the book, fenced for several hours...

self in both the Jump start book and The Spark, connected with a friend on facebook and went to her Angel healing website..just new :) very nice site..

Tomorrow is my appointment with a therapist so wish me luck..

Thanks for stopping by ..keep on sparkin'

From the title of your blog I thought you were starting fencing as an exercise, ya know, with a sword! Hahahaha. Im so blonde sometimes :)
Repairing fences sounds like hard physical labor, which can help the body and soul I think.
Good luck with everything. You're one of the people here on sparkpeople I love to keep up on.

p.s. Read anything good lately? emoticon

Sounds as though if nothing else, you will get lots of walking done. Wish I was there I would get out and help. Today I have been watching the Fit, Firm and Fired Up DVD with Coach Nicole. I have done 2 of the days. I watch them first to see what kind of modifications I may have to make. Some of the I will try, but I know that at this time I will not be able to do them so I will modify until I can do them the way they should be.
This afternoon, I am going to start doing the Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start and hopefully by this evening I will be anble to do Walk Away the Pounds with Leslie Sansone. Looks as though I am going to have to see about getting another DVD Player as this one is not working right. I get so frustrated with it when I try to use it. Gabe put a DVD in it wrong and got it all jammed and I had to take it apart and I got it working and if you want to watch a movie that you put in and start and let run it does good but if you have to switch in a menu, it is a mess.
I was so happy to hear that Spring has finally sprung for you. That should lift your spirits and give you a better outlook on things.
The Lord's blessings I send to you

Good for you for starting a new program you like. But 100 miles of fence? Geez, that's a lot of fence. That should sure keep you burning off the calories all day.
Take care!

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Hi...we've had a quiet day here on the farm.

I checked the herd with the quad and found the first crocuses in the pasture :) It must be spring now!!

Then we tagged, tattooed and turned out some pairs. While hubby fed bales I washed my car and our two diesel one ton trucks.

Our Easter supper was some leftovers frozen from last weekend, sweet potatoes and some hot cross buns and pistachio salad. Talked a bit on the phone..watching some hockey...

I feel really tired today so I'll probably have an early night...

Today's 3 mini goals.

nutrition..had a healthy breakfast..went downhill from there..Monday is a new day and time to get back on track..

active living..lots of cattle work and vehicle washing...

self time, gave out some fruit basket Easter goodies, and hockey :)

When I went to the corral to help tag and turn out the pairs I decided it was too warm for my lined coveralls so I put on some white and blue striped unlined coveralls, over my new navy yoga pants, all tucked into rubber boots of course since the corrals are still almost to the top of the boots!!...anyway I was chasing a pair and the cow turned back and I tried to turn too but my boot was stuck in the muck and down I went...yuck..soaked right least I didn't have the grey yoga pants on!! Gotta love Spring :)

Hope you all had the best Easter ever and none of you spent it laying in a corral...thanks for stopping by and keep on Sparkn'

Well, there's that great poem by ee cummings about spring being "mud-luscious" but maybe in this case not so much??

Pistachio salad sounds intriguing and delish: is it difficult to make for the domestically challenged???
