Hockey day in Canada...

Saturday, February 12, 2011

Hi..I'm blogging early since I'm hoping we're going to the local hockey game tonight..supper's gonna be a rink burger:) we do still miss the rinks..back when son was in hockey..that's a lot of rinks and a lot of fun!!

Dinner was the last of my weekly pot of soup..I think next week will be chicken veggie :) I've had my daily V8 and one square of dark chocolate :)

I did my 30 minutes on the bike...and some housework...February's gonna be busy..while I'm gone to spa next weekend son is coming home for ski dooing and hunting coyotes..then while the school break is on during the last week of February..while hubby is gone to his workshop, the 2 granddaughters are coming for a stay :)

I'm enjoying my off white roses I picked out for Valentine's day : ) Lots of cool comments on my son's girlfriend's facebook page over her Valentine's gift of 100 roses. Oldest daughter said she loves her Valentine's gift from her boyfriend..a new washing machine :) nothing says I love you like clean of my favorite flylady quotes..haha.

Hope your weekend is going just great!! It's beautiful weather last :) We just finished watching the afternoon hockey game on CBC and the Oiler's lost :) that means they're still last in the league..oh well someone has to cheer for the underdogs, right!!

Well thanks for stopping by for a chat..and a coffee actually, since this is coffee break time :)
Keep on Sparkin'

Yay hockey rinks!! It's a whole Canajun culture thing: gotta have a Timmy's in your hand to keep warm!! Maybe one in each hand, actually!! I remember many many hours at hockey rinks when our son was younger, too.

My weekly pot of soup is a gorgeous chicken mushroom barley with lots of veggies and I'm just gonna go down and have a bowlful!! Then yogourt with fresh berries for dessert.

And -- maybe a square of Lindt 85% cocoa chocolate?? And a cup of PC light hot chocolate too?? Yeah!!

Hi we're in a nice warm up :) I like it alot :)

I rode my bike and talked to my sister on the phone :) Also talked to my son this morning..he has Fridays off lately and he was going to bring his girlfriend 100 roses at work this morning, lucky girl..she must have liked them since she posted pics on facebook and it was fun to read her friend's comments...

I got back to painting and worked on the basement a looks really nice..the color I picked is a pale off white so it really brightens it up.

I had soup for lunch and pizza and beer for supper. After supper I've been going through my -e-mails and sending jokes on to friends and organizing and deleting them..

So glad you stopped by for a chat..gotta go make some tea..Hope you all have fun weekends planned..we might go to a hockey game in a neighboring town tomorrow night.

Keep on Sparking'

Wow! 100 roses! Thats a lot of flowers! Lucky girl! I bet her face book comments were interesting. Moving on to another remodel project? We are still doing the kitchen/den/ and bath. I am using the stove in the kitchen now, the dishwasher isn't here yet, and I'm not moved into the cabinets yet. It all takes time! Have a fun weekend and enjoy those warmer temps! emoticon

Fun Day Trip...

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Hi..We had a great day away from the ranch, did lots of errands..took father-in-law out to the chinese buffet for his birthday. It was all delicious and I went way over my calories but I don't do that very often..and I evened it out by having a bowl of cereal for breakfast and one for supper, too. I was still about 500 calories over but feel I didn't do too bad :)

I got a few groceries, some paint for the basement and most of the seeds for my garden..I like to buy them in February while the selection is still really good! I also got a 4 shelf covered greenhouse thing for $30..I'll be ready for spring..if it ever comes...of course I got a couple new magazines and a fiber supplement as seen on Dr.Oz :)

The day away from the oil crap was helpful and we had 6 new calls when we got home but it was after business hours and no body answered the call backs. I phoned all three kids to remind them of Grandpa's I got a bonus visit with all of them and the granddaughters, too. What a great day!! The grocery store had fresh flowers and I picked out a beautiful bouquet of off white whole house smells great :)

I didn't ride my bike today..first day in February that I missed but I did lots of walking and shopping and then I did night chores while hubby checked on the oil surveying...I made him pork cutlets, potatoes and corn for supper...

Well..I'm always super thirsty when I've had a meal away from home..all the salt..I never cook with salt..even baking or I'm off to fill up a quart of water to drink with the tv show we're about to watch..just to figure out how to wake up hubby..maybe some of the water from my jar... :)

Thanks for stopping by and for the comments :) Keep on Sparkin'

More oil headaches...yuck!!

Wednesday, February 09, 2011

Hi..what a crappy afternoon..the day started not too bad..hubby needed me to try ether to start one of our tractors for chores but it still wouldn't he had to use the tractor with the broken loader..he hopes to weld it when it warms up for the weekend!! Anyway while I was outside already I helped with chores and took twine off bales..we did a bale in the back for the old cows in the corrals. Then I walked out to the field and helped with a few more bales..then hubby was wondering what a coyote was eating in the next field over so I walked over there to see what it was..a mostly eaten deer..maybe one of the ones from the yard yesterday. Hubby was afraid the coyote might go after me but I wasn't too worried..the snow was past my knees in most places..a good work out :)

When we got in for a late lunch..hubby had left over deer sausage from yesterday and I had soup :) ..the oil company had phoned and wanted us to sign for another survey for another oil well..I phoned back and said we weren't interested and the boss from Calgary that phoned was very persistent!! I still said no way..then we tried to find out any legal problems to saying no to a oil lease on your own land..I wish we had never signed on for the first one..and the awful mess with Fred..etc. Anyway if we refuse them then it has to go to arbitration and they get to put the well up much for any landowners rights :( Then an oil rep came over and spent hours convincing us..then went away and came back in a few hours..we gave in to them just finding out exactly where the site is to be put..looks like a loosing proposition.
We sure don't trust this company anymore :( The thing I hate most is the contraversy and how hubby gets all upset and that's in full force already..I don't need this stress.

Well, enough about my crappy day...

Besides my hour of chores I rode my bike for 30 minutes, made the french onion soup beef ribs in the crockpot for supper..I had a couple small bits of the meat..all fat removed and a huge spinach salad with mushrooms, radishes and tomatoes. I had my V8 juice, fresh apple and small square of dark chocolate for a treat.

It was still really cold here..below 0 F but clear and it wasn't too bad to be out..I had a pair of gloves under my mitts, but had to take them off to cut twine. It's supposed to be much warmer tomorrow!!

We have a day trip to Weyburn planned for's father-in-laws birthday so we're taking them out for lunch at a chinese buffet place. I have a huge shopping list..I might pick up most of my seeds for gardening and there's a small greenhouse shelf unit on sale.

I need to relax after my stressful day..maybe some kind of calming tea, or something stronger!! Haha :)

Well I think I should go for now..sorry about the rant...thanks for stopping by..keep on Sparkin'
