Chocolatey Mint tea :)

Wednesday, February 02, 2011

Hi..I'm relaxing and enjoying my 2nd chocolate fix for the day..I also stirred some instant cocoa into coffee for a yummy mocha :) Two treats and very low cal :)

We're finally getting the warm up..so hubby went to town for mail..we got a much awaited cheque from the disappointing oil company..after 2 months of "the cheque is in the mail"
We may go up to Weyburn unless the forecasted wind gets up and causes a blizzard!! Then I can stock up on some fresh fruits and veggies..red themed of course for heart month!! I've got an opened bottle of V8 so I've added a cup a day of red V8 to use it up and get more servings of veggies :) I need some more spinach and maybe some dried beans, frozen corn and frozen strawberries. Maybe I'll look for some red flowers, too.

I had my hamburger veggie soup for lunch with a tuna wrap, supper was beef pot roast and I had some beef, carrots, onions and parsnips with a big spinach salad and green peppers

If we go to Weyburn we have 3 different restaurant gift certificates to use...I was really happy with my money spending cutdown in January and hope to keep it up for February.

I rode my bike for 30 minutes and did some running laps around the house..luckily we have a house that has a loop in it, great for indoor running..even has a couple stairs in a couple places. Then did some squats and lunges between sets of laps...no weights today..I sprained my wrist this morning..have I mentioned somewhere that I'm very accident prone?? haha!! So I'm not 100% today.

Thanks for all the comments on my blogs..anyone who wants to use any of my goals, I think that's great!! I have been cruising blogs myself to get ideas :)

I've been working on amping up my garbage recycling..I'm now putting wet scraps in a covered pail to add to a compost pile, papers to the wood stove, glass, plastic and tin to recycle containers..I'm gonna see how little garbage I can have for February :)

Well I'm done my tea...hope you're all having a great hump day!! Keep on Sparkin' and thanks for stopping by for a chat and a cup of tea!!!

Love Donna

One day late reading your Wed. blog but I sometimes have to wait until the next day to read and respond to blogs. Sorry you hurt your wrist. Hope it will be all well shortly. Sounds like you had a good workout. Hope you get to go shopping. Later.

Happy Friday Eve!!! The tea and mocha treats sound delicious! In this cold weather, there is nothing like a hot cup of something tasty! Way to go on getting your goals set for the month and working to follow through. It sure helps when we are on teams and they assign us challenges to help motivate us. No recycling for us here. Since we live outside the city limits, they dont do recycling pick ups like they do in town. We have to do our own sorting and drop it off at a center. Hope you have a great day!

We've gotten some warm up, too. However, not quite as much as forecast. We were supposed to get to about 10F, but it only made it to -4F. Still that's better than -40F !

It's supposed to be close to freezing tomorrow. I'll believe it when I see it.

I see from the weather map that we seem to be an island of cold with warmer areas around us.

I think I'll mix up a cup of cocoa and do some paperwork. It's off to the dental hygenist for a cleaning tomorrow...

I'm always looking for low cal ways to get my chocolate fix. I never thought to add instant cocoa to my coffee, and we always have that on hand for my daughter. Thanks for the idea!

Hi again....

Tuesday, February 01, 2011

Just another quick blog while I drink my tea ...raspberry thriller (it's kinda red haha)

Today is another bitterly cold day here!! But a warm up is on the way, again :)
I did lots of exercise to start the month off...rode bike for two 30 minute sessions, then remembered to wear my pedometer..and stayed in the house all day so only under 5,000 steps.. it's a start. Team Sask also has some February challenges and the fitness one is 30 minutes cardio 3x a week, 250 crunches, 3 sets of 16 squats 3x a week, 3 sets of 16 bicep curls 3x a week...so I'm in that one and did some of the crunches..I'm rather crunch impaired :( and did the squats and curls too. I'm also gonna try some running so I did some laps around the house, too.

Team Sask's other challenge is one new Spark recipe a week, journal or blog daily, a before picture, and 10 positive comments to team members :)

Today I had some of my hamburger soup and a tuna wrap for lunch, then supper was beef and vegetable stir fry from Spark recipes :)

I dyed my hair today and then used my flat iron and shine spray to do my hair :) all part of my nice to me and also nice for hubby :) Well not too nice, we played cribbage and I beat him..it's my turn..wink, wink..he is in a better mood if he wins,tho..haha :)

Have any of you checked out the 28 days to a healthier heart article? I love the calendar pages :) #1 get a check up..I'm really bad at that, since we have no doctor any more so it's been awhile...I haven't found a replacement yet :) I did have a complete heart check up shortly after my brother..57, died of a heart attack 4 years ago..and everything was fine.

Well, I'm almost finished my tea..take care..keep on Sparkin'

Wow, Donna. I had my hair dyed yesterday along with a cut, so we're on the same wave length. Keep up the good exercise. Beat the hubby at the games every chance you get, HA HA. Have a good day.

Always fun to read your blogs -- since you like red tea, have you tried Celestial Season's Red Zinger yet?? Quite yummy. (My fave remains that Bengal Spice, however: it's the tiger on the box!!)

We Canajuns have a great health care system when we really need it in serious health care emergencies but -- in many places it's hard to find a regular family doctor. I've a fabulous nurse practitioner who does my "routine care" -- any out your way??

January's over..on to February....

Monday, January 31, 2011

Hi..I more or less recapped my January goals yesterday.. but I didn't tell you about yesterdays food. I found this really yummy recipe in that Sparkpeople All You magazine..for pumpkin spice pancakes..they turned out great!! We had oven baked chicken and sweet potatoes for supper and pumpkin pie for dessert to use the leftover pumpkin from the pancakes :) I've decided not to eat the leg and thigh and my half of the sweet potato so I used the leg and one quarter of the sweet potato in today's chicken pot pie. Supper was leftover lasagna and a big spinach salad. I made a delcious new recipe for left over bananas from a spark friend..banana gingerbread loaf very tasty :) her recipe is on spark recipes.. I am trying to find some ways to get better at this so I think maybe smaller portions could help...and less treats haha :)

Thanks for the suggestions for this weeks soup..I have no beans or corn on hand so I made hamburger but I spiced it up by adding some leftover salsa to it, also lots of veggies.

I've been reading blogs and figuring our my plans for February..hope you are all looking forward to a new month and progress toward our goals...I'll list my goals tomorrow..so stay tuned..I'm off to make some tea..and warm up..it's turned really, really cold here again..I went out to help hubby with wood for the stoves and just about froze this afternoon!! now wind chills are supposed to be -45 tomorrow morning :(..hope it's warmer where ever you're at :)

Thanks for stopping by..keep warm and keep on Sparkin'

Love Donna

It is important to keep track of the big things you are working for. It is just as if not more important to keep track of the little daily events and victories. I have a journal entry for every day I have worked offshore. Keep smelling the roses on the road to success.
