Decorating for Christmas Blog!!! with pictures :)

Friday, December 17, 2010

Hi..the turkey is thawing, the cleaning is finished, the beds are all made up, the gifts are wrapped, the decorating is done..I'm officially ready for Christmas with hours to spare :)

I just finished waxing the last floors and folding some clothes, after the floors dry I'm going to put the mats back and put the leaf in the table and be all set. Son and girlfriend won't arrive for a few hours so I have time to put my feet up.. I'd make tea but the kitchen floor is wet...I went along to town for mail and a few last minute groceries, got some new magazines I subscribe to and bought one too. Got a few more Christmas cards, too. Saw some friends and had some visits :) Today I returned a call from an Aunt who lives in northern B.C. She phoned a few days ago, and I finally caught her home, we had a nice visit and I also visited with her daughter, a cousin I haven't seen in 30 years!!! Also chatted with one of my sisters. It's been a busy day and I got lots done!!!

Son just phoned and asked if we have any eggnog..he could pick some up, he's still several hours away :) I have a favorite recipe for eggnog..1 package of instant vanilla pudding, sugar free if you want, 6 to 8 cups of milk, I usually use 1 %, mix it up and add cinnamon or nutmeg (and booze if you like) yumyum!!

I will now try to up load some of my decorating pictures...

I hope you have a wonderful time with your family this weekend.

I hope your weather isn't too miserable. We're having fog (AGAIN!!) and pretty cold temps, luckily not much for wind.

One day left till our early Christmas :)

Thursday, December 16, 2010

Hi..I have a few last minute jobs for thaw the turkey, etc and do a bit more cleaning. I;m relaxing on the couch, watching The Time Traveller's Wife...having beer instead of tea. For those of you that read yesterday's goal up date I was up to 198 but today I'm back to 197..must have been all that salt in the chinese food Tuesday....

I did a bit more outside decorating, cut my pine branch and put little sprigs around on the pictures..carried many, many loads of crap to the basement. Hubby put new taps on the kitchen sink, did chores and did some pasture work, even tho he's not on staff anymore he still has to prepare for the allocation meeting next week and do lots of work even tho he's not on the pay roll :(

This will be a short blog since I still need to make up some beds..ours included. We had roast beef sandwiches with spinach for lunch, and pork chops , corn and spinach salad for supper. I had tea for lunch so I'm not having more tonight..just another glass of water after my beer..

The ball team women are having another ladies night tomorrow night but son and girlfriend are coming down tomorrow after work so want to be home..can't be everywhere :) too bad I can't be cloned haha..all I want for Christmas is a clone?? haha!!

Take care and keep on Sparkin'...

Merry Christmas all..

..Love Donna

December's half over..recap of goals....

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

Hi..just thought I should recap my goals and track my December progress. Thanks every one for stopping by for a chat and tea and inspiration :)

emoticon Tea's going great..I'm enjoying relaxing with my pot of tea most nights and have found a few new flavors to add to my collection. It really helps to get lots of fluids and to cut down on night snacking...

emoticonExercise is not going as good as hoped I'm still being active with cleaning and painting and helping outside but I hope later in the month I'll be back riding my bike..and use my 10 free gym sessions..and really amp up January...

emoticonwater and tea...I've had 10 cups most days :)...

emoticonhealthy foods..small amounts of treats..well I have had some treats but way, way less than most December's so I'm happy with my progress..not perfection..just progress :) When I do over eat I cut back the next day...

emoticonhome improvements are coming, the rooms are all painted but the porch and that can wait until January...I'll post some more pictures when I finish decorating...

emoticonChristmas preparations are coming along great..good thing since we're having Christmas on the 18th so I just have a few more days to get ready.. today I made tarts so baking is finished, I made cabbage rolls to go with the turkey, gifts are all wrapped and under the tree. I have a bit more cleaning to do..getting beds ready for the kids and do a bit more decorating, I shampooed the family room rug today so that's done..

emoticonstreaks..I've logged on and got points everyday so far in Dec. also tracked food and exercise and water....

emoticontime for self..I've been listening to my favorite Christmas cds, enjoying lots of bubble baths, reading a new book called Snow Globe, watching some Christmas shows, reading lots of new magazines, spending time with friends, and spending lots of time with Spark friends...

emoticongive something to some one daily..I sent out over 50 Christmas cards, gave all my slo-pitch team Christmas gifts, brought a plate of cookies to a retirement potluck, gave a gift to hubby's office and brought cookies to the Christmas party, gave granddaughter her birthday gifts and brought up some early gifts for the rest of them..cookies etc, brought cookies to my favorite x boss at the drugstore :) left positive comments on lots of Spark stuff, shared a blog almost every day . I'm going to be giving Spark goodies to my friends next week, after my early Christmas, my friend and I are also going carolling at the seniors home next week....

emoticon goal weight 195 for December 31..well I started at 197 have been down to 196 and now am at 198 so ..I still have 2 weeks to get back on track..

Well that's my recap of the goals so far..hope you're all moving towards your goals too..thanks for stopping by for a chat and tea :)

Keep on sparkin'...

Love Donna..

What a whirlwind you are! I've been wicked busy with work and classes, so I'm envious of all your Xmas activity! My son is visiting which I LOVE, but it means I haven't gotten near the laptop for days. I love your story on another blog about your kids roasting marshmallows on your elegant candles at the dinner table. That's JUST like the kind of thing my kids would do. Gotta love it!!! emoticon

Relaxing with a pot of peppermint tea.....

Tuesday, December 14, 2010

Hi..we're home from the last Christmas party of the season :) Had lots of fun and indulged a bit too much..chinese food yum yum..had no idea how to track it but I'm sure it was over the top..don't have too many days over so I don't feel too bad.

I have a question for everyone..when you've lost some weight do you adjust your calories down? How do you do it and how do you know how much? I've lowered mine some but then I didn't change anything else like protein etc..or do you just leave the calories where spark set them at the start??

Back to the pasture party..lots of people at it, only 2 pasture mangers missing. Lots of riders and wives and kids. We have a cowboy poet in our group and he read one of his new poems about breaking a horse..I love cowboy poetry :) Wish I could do some of that..lots of people tell me I should write a book about some of the stuff that happens here..Anyway we usually have some kind of activity and this year one of the guys had a couple air guns and we had a shooting competition shooting little balls at paper plate targets..some of the women took part and I did really awful!! haha. Hubby and I signed up at the same time so we were shooting beside each other and everyone told us to shoot at the targets and not each other..haha!!

We finished a bit of shopping and did some errands around the big city of Weyburn (aprox 10,000 people) That is our closest city and it's about 70 miles away..we are in the middle of nowhere :) I love it tho!! It was really stormy and foggy today and we were almost home when the freezing rain started!!! It was
13F so not sure how it was raining..having big wind with it too!! I think tomorrow we'll be sticking close to home so that means hopefully I'll finish up getting ready for the weekend!! I'm making cabbage rolls tomorrow, and I cheated and bought tart shells so I'll make some butter tarts and pecan tarts tomorrow too. Of course I found a few more gifts..keep me out of the stores!! so have to wrap them. I bought mother-in-law a cute little necklace, some Christmas stretchy bands for the granddaughters and a little calendar for middle daughter's friend she's bringing home from Alberta..what to buy for someone you've never met??

I've been spending some time reading through some blogs..that's always so much see what everybody's up to. I'm relaxing and enjoying my little pot of peppermint tea and watching a bit of hockey on tv. I'm too lazy to start a project after 9 pm but I really should if I hope to be ready for company. Son and his girlfriend are coming Friday night and the rest are coming on Saturday. I'm actually looking forward to having early Christmas and then having a completely quiet Christmas day with just hubby and the animals :) I guess it's the introvert in me coming out :)

Well I really should be hauling stuff to the basement and making up beds but tomorrow's another day :) I need the work out, besides..

Take care everyone and keep on Sparkin' and stop by anytime for a chat and a cup of tea :)

I just remembered a funny Christmas story to share..when the kids were still home I was reading some articles on how to make Christmas more meaningful for families and it said for every supper in December set the table fancy, good dishes candles etc to make it special..well the first night we had candles with supper all the kids got up and got marshmallows and roasted marshmallows over the candles!! yup.. we're rednecks!!!

Love Donna..

The rain started a little after 5 p.m. here. A lot of people around here have been wondering how we get rain when it's so cold. I guess it is just bigger drops of the freezing fog we've been having.

Love the marshmallow story. I think your kids had a great idea.

I wish I could answer your question. I just don't know and I have some questions of my own. Maybe I should post on one of the message pages.
I love the marshmellow story, so cute! I'm sitting here watching Glee and having some Jasmine tea with you.

Enjoying chocolatety mint tea and relaxing..

Monday, December 13, 2010

Hi..the weather is a little warmer today and there's a chance for freezing rain tomorrow..of course since we have to travel!!

I'm relaxing with my little pot of tea after a full day of wrapping presents :) I have everything wrapped and just have to get a few more little things tomorrow and the next time I go to our local little town :) I'm glad I did the wrapping today so I can see just what else I need. Didn't get much cleaning and decorating done today except for oldest daughter's room..the guest room which had all the gifts and wrap on the they're all under the tree so her room is almost ready :) I wish I wasn't such a bad house keeper then I wouldn't feel like I need to do so much cleaning if it was already half tidy!! I still have to clean out other daughter's room..the craft room (otherwise known as the crap room since I just shove all my crap in there) When I painted and redecorated all the stuff I wasn't using also got shoved in there too! Does anyone else have this problem? I have joined to help with my bad problem and it's helping a bit! I guess I'll be hauling junk into the basement to sort another first I thought I'd also have to clear out the basement for people to sleep there too but oldest daughter's boyfriend can't come now so her girls will just stay with her.

We have a service rig on the oil site now..hubby went over to check it out this morning. The road had been blocked and they had it ploughed out.

This will be a short blog since I haven't tracked food and exercise for the last couple days and need to get at that!! Too many parties and treats and I'm up a pound instead of down any :( I'll get back on track in no time at all..just have to get back to motivation!!

Hope you're all enjoying having tea with me..Have any of you read the book "A cup of Christmas Tea" by Tom Heggs? I first heard about it on Plentywood's radio station years ago. A lady was reading it over the radio and it was a very touching story! I have my own copy, even an autographed copy :) It's kind of a long poem in book form. I like to get it out and read it around Christmas :)

Well, I really should go do some tracking ....
Have a great evening and keep on Sparkin..
..Love Donna

I'm reading and enjoying your blog while munching on a Weight Watchers Mini bar. 2 points! I have a junk room and boy is it junky. We just tried to clean it out this past summer but now it's back in the bad shape it was in before we cleaned. I just keep the door closed LOL. It's going to be a heat wave tomorrow, up to 34. Congrats on your Christmas present shopping and wrapping. Your way ahead of the game! Have a good day. emoticon

I'm sitting here with a cup of minty cocoa. I don't drink tea, so I have to make do with cocoa.

My favorite when I'm cold is a big cup of cocoa with some peppermint schnapps in it. Warms me right up...

It was a beautiful day here today (Monday) -- the sun was shining and no wind to speak of. It didn't warm up a whole lot -- to about -6C. It looks like your weather today was kind of like ours was yesterday.

I hope you have a good day tomorrow.
