Warmth cinnamon spice tea....baby it's cold outside..brrrrrrrr

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

Hi..I'm brewing me a pot of cinnamon spice tea to warm up tonight. My cold is quite a bit better..the lemon and honey in my tea must have done the trick :) last night. It's cold and stormy here..we got lots of fresh snow and the wind is whipping it around some. It's -20 C here with a wind chill of -30 something..brrr

I was trying to down load a picture but it doesn't always work for me..does any one else have the same problem?

I wasn't very energetic today so I didn't work on my painting projects..did my Christmas letter and started doing cards too. Maybe I'll feel like painting tomorrow.

The oil rig is up..we checked the herd over there and hubby brought them a bale to get them away from the site.

Well..this will be a quick blog. I did get 30 minutes on the bike today :)

I'm enjoying my tea by the fire with another hockey game..Calgary/New Jersey.

Thanks for stopping by for tea. To all my American friends..have a very Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow... emoticon

Take care and keep on Sparkin'...

I think we would take snow compared to the tornado we had close to us last night. Have a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving.

I share your misery with the cold. We are in the same storm, in fact we have the same temperature currently. Probably the same wind chill, too.

Keep warm...

Hockey and beer

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

Hi just relaxing with the Oiler/Coyote game..my Oilers aren't doing too great..tonight or this year :( Having a Bud light lime beer..then I'll switch to tea.
I wonder what kind would be good..I'm coming down with a wicked head cold and sinus pain so maybe some lemon and honey will do the trick.

We have the oil rig moved in to day..they'll raise the derrick tomorrow. We found some decent people to deal with ..finally!! Fred..the nasty man..has flown back to Calgary..I feel sorry for the city!! We refused to let them have access to water or fields to spread mud if Fred was still involved!! Water access has gone up from when we last did that from community pasture wells. From $1000 to $2500 the engineer told us it was the "Fred tax" haha. I think things will be much better now..hubby has even settled down some which eases some of my stress!!

It's been bitterly cold here..-25 tho a storm is brewing and it's warmed up tonight to about -15C. I spent quite a bit of time outside..we started by taking the truck and trailer to the community pasture corrals to retrieve a big panel of ours, then checked the herds, moved dusters/mineral feeders home, checked on the oil site a few times..took a fence apart and rolled up some barbed wire so the water hauler from the rig can get to the dugout by the yard. We don't want them to use the dugout that's close to the site since the cows are there drinking and if thee oil rig gets water from there cows could break the ice too easy if the water level drops. We don't want any drowned cows!! Then we hauled us some drinking water in case the big 2 or 3 day storm comes this way.

My tea is ready..I picked Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime..it has chamomile flowers, spearmint leaves, lemon grass etc..yum..I added some lemon juice and a squirt of honey for my cold. When I'm finished it I'm off to bed.

The game has 3 minutes left and the Oilers are losing ..4/0 :(

I didn't get any painting done today or rode my bike :(

The tea feels really good on my throat.

The tea box actually has quotes on it..
"We turn, not older with years, but newer every day" Emily Dickinson

"It's better to sleep on things beforehand than lie awake about them afterwards."

The Oilers lost 5/0...

Hope the Riders do better on Sunday!!!
Well I should get to bed..hope you're have a great week, thanks for stopping by for a cup of tea and a chat ( hope you don't catch my cold!!)
...Keep on Sparkin'

So sorry to hear you have a cold! Sleepytime sounds just right... with honey! and lemon! Yum. And maybe a shot of brandy, too?

Wow, so cold there and it's only November! I hope it won't be that way all winter. Here in Maine it's been in the 40sF, so much warmer, and that suits me just fine. Best of luck with the oil project from her one out, now that you're Fredless.

Burrrr...That is cold! I'm from Oregon and it snowed here all day. As a matter of fact, it even snowed over on the coast and for this time of year, that is very unusal. It's only 27 degrees here now and I just turned on the faucets to a light drip so the pipes don't freeze. I could not imagine weather as cold as yours. I think I'll just stick with ours. ha ha.
Keep sipping your tea and take it easy. Sleeptime is one of our favorites too...and may you and your family have a great Thanksgiving. Ummmm...I just thought of something...Do you celebrate Thanksgiving in Canada? Maybe not. Oh Well...Have a great week anyways...even if you don't. ha ha. emoticon

What are the oil guys using for fraccing mud? Or do they frac oil or just gas? You need to make sure that it doesn't have toxic chemicals in it if you are having it spread on fields, specially if they are ones that your animals will be in.

I hope your dealings with them go better now that Fred has left. Just don't let them trample all over you.

Relaxing with Blueberry Bliss tea :)

Monday, November 22, 2010

Hi..just having a pot of Blueberry Bliss tea and relaxing. We checked the herd today where the oil site is and talked to the cat drivers..they thought the rig would be moving in tomorrow. They also told us some things the consultant has said about us..like f**k the land owners ..so he's being really helpful :(

We brought some bales to the herd late this afternoon so if they do move the rig in tomorrow the cows will stay away from them.

Hubby went to town for some business and got the mail. etc. I got a parcel of Christmas presents I ordered awhile ago. While he was gone I took most of the wall paper border off the living room. Just need to move some furniture to reach a bit more then wash down the bits left behind..maybe I can get back to painting tomorrow..or just watch the rig come in, plus we didn't get our deer cut up yet.

I rode my bike for 30 minutes while I watched the Nate show. So I got some exercise in. I also did some laundry and housework.

It's been really cold today and snow is forecast for the next couple days. We might get nicer weather by the weekend..I sure hope so since I want to put up the Christmas lights.

Well, I better go for now.

I had good news this morning I was picked as Sparker of the week by my team the Red Chillies :) I think that's so cool..a big thank you to them..hope they stop by for tea and a chat :)

Thanks for all the comments and for stopping by for tea..

...Keep on Sparkin'

Cold winter prediction...

Monday, November 22, 2010

The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very cold winter.
It must be true because the squirrels are gathering nuts.

Three of my neighbors are missing.

Are you OK.?

squirrels around here have been going crazy. we have a big ole hickory tree and it makes the big dog (see profile pic) crazy to see all those squirrels in the yard and the trees

Thanks for the warning. The squirrels are hiding their nuts in my house... oh wait. I live alone. (except for squirrels in the walls and pigeons in the belfry). Incriminating, huh? The cat's nuttiest of all (but in a sweet-tempered way).

What color did you say you're gonna paint the living room?

The weather is predicted to be bad by the Farmers Alamac and good by the weather channel. SO it's a toss up right now. Will just have to wait and see how it is later on. Have a good day.

Busy weekend...son home..deer hunting...

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Hi I missed yesterday's blog since our son and his girlfriend were here :) The guys went deer hunting and they both got a deer. Son's girlfriend and I went to a school craft sale and then to visit her Grandma who had fallen and broke her knee cap..ouch!!!

We got home before the guys so I plugged in the tractor, did chores and chopped a water hole for the herd. Then the guys got home with their deer and I helped unload them into the shop to hang and prepare them. Then, this morning we cut and wrapped son's deer so they could take the meat home (plus a rubbermaid tub of meat for sausage..they have a friend to do that) We'll have to cut and wrap ours tomorrow.

We have had a major hassle with the oil people..we have a consultant who has been lying to us and being a real creep!! We finally talked to some one else in charge and nothing is like this jerk says....god..just what we don't need, so much stress..hubby has been off the deep end :(

Live and learn.

I'm relaxing with a pot of Warmth cinnamon spice tea....we watched the football game at home instead of going to the team party..just too tired for that. The Riders won so they're off to the Grey Cup next weekend :)

I hope to get back to my painting, etc tomorrow..maybe I'll even have some time to ride my bike and work on the Christmas cards.

Take care and keep on Sparkin' and stop by anytime for a chat and a cup of tea :)
Also anyone have any good deer recipes??

Sorry to hear about the creep experience. I hope it all works out with the new man on the job.

I haven't cooked a lot of deer meat -- mostly tenderloin with sherry and mushrooms, mmmm. A doe committed suicide on my left fender winter before last, but I gave away most of the meat. I LOVE venison stew, so I'll be over when you cook that up!

I have a cool German Recipe for saddle of vennison, but 70% of it is stuff that would get you run out of Spark People on a rail if they knew that you ate. I'm going Antelope hunting next weekend. I have this brand new .30-06 Weatherby with a 3.5-10
power Vari-X3 scope that I am going to use. It will practically drive five rounds right through the same hole at 200 yards, if I'm doing the shooting. Brie

Sounds like you have been super busy!! I love to put the chunk meat in the crockpot with one large can of cream of mushroom soup! You may have to add water depending on how much it boils down . I am always looking for a good tasty way to use the burger. The tenderloin goes quick around here. I saute mushrooms and fry it in a small amt of butter. emoticon Yep, I said the b word. lol. My son logan and my husband are going out tomorrow. Let me know if you get any good recipes. emoticon
