Relaxing with Blueberry Bliss tea :)

Monday, November 22, 2010

Hi..just having a pot of Blueberry Bliss tea and relaxing. We checked the herd today where the oil site is and talked to the cat drivers..they thought the rig would be moving in tomorrow. They also told us some things the consultant has said about us..like f**k the land owners ..so he's being really helpful :(

We brought some bales to the herd late this afternoon so if they do move the rig in tomorrow the cows will stay away from them.

Hubby went to town for some business and got the mail. etc. I got a parcel of Christmas presents I ordered awhile ago. While he was gone I took most of the wall paper border off the living room. Just need to move some furniture to reach a bit more then wash down the bits left behind..maybe I can get back to painting tomorrow..or just watch the rig come in, plus we didn't get our deer cut up yet.

I rode my bike for 30 minutes while I watched the Nate show. So I got some exercise in. I also did some laundry and housework.

It's been really cold today and snow is forecast for the next couple days. We might get nicer weather by the weekend..I sure hope so since I want to put up the Christmas lights.

Well, I better go for now.

I had good news this morning I was picked as Sparker of the week by my team the Red Chillies :) I think that's so cool..a big thank you to them..hope they stop by for tea and a chat :)

Thanks for all the comments and for stopping by for tea..

...Keep on Sparkin'

Cold winter prediction...

Monday, November 22, 2010

The Farmer's Almanac is predicting a very cold winter.
It must be true because the squirrels are gathering nuts.

Three of my neighbors are missing.

Are you OK.?

squirrels around here have been going crazy. we have a big ole hickory tree and it makes the big dog (see profile pic) crazy to see all those squirrels in the yard and the trees

Thanks for the warning. The squirrels are hiding their nuts in my house... oh wait. I live alone. (except for squirrels in the walls and pigeons in the belfry). Incriminating, huh? The cat's nuttiest of all (but in a sweet-tempered way).

What color did you say you're gonna paint the living room?

The weather is predicted to be bad by the Farmers Alamac and good by the weather channel. SO it's a toss up right now. Will just have to wait and see how it is later on. Have a good day.

Busy weekend...son home..deer hunting...

Sunday, November 21, 2010

Hi I missed yesterday's blog since our son and his girlfriend were here :) The guys went deer hunting and they both got a deer. Son's girlfriend and I went to a school craft sale and then to visit her Grandma who had fallen and broke her knee cap..ouch!!!

We got home before the guys so I plugged in the tractor, did chores and chopped a water hole for the herd. Then the guys got home with their deer and I helped unload them into the shop to hang and prepare them. Then, this morning we cut and wrapped son's deer so they could take the meat home (plus a rubbermaid tub of meat for sausage..they have a friend to do that) We'll have to cut and wrap ours tomorrow.

We have had a major hassle with the oil people..we have a consultant who has been lying to us and being a real creep!! We finally talked to some one else in charge and nothing is like this jerk says....god..just what we don't need, so much stress..hubby has been off the deep end :(

Live and learn.

I'm relaxing with a pot of Warmth cinnamon spice tea....we watched the football game at home instead of going to the team party..just too tired for that. The Riders won so they're off to the Grey Cup next weekend :)

I hope to get back to my painting, etc tomorrow..maybe I'll even have some time to ride my bike and work on the Christmas cards.

Take care and keep on Sparkin' and stop by anytime for a chat and a cup of tea :)
Also anyone have any good deer recipes??

Sorry to hear about the creep experience. I hope it all works out with the new man on the job.

I haven't cooked a lot of deer meat -- mostly tenderloin with sherry and mushrooms, mmmm. A doe committed suicide on my left fender winter before last, but I gave away most of the meat. I LOVE venison stew, so I'll be over when you cook that up!

I have a cool German Recipe for saddle of vennison, but 70% of it is stuff that would get you run out of Spark People on a rail if they knew that you ate. I'm going Antelope hunting next weekend. I have this brand new .30-06 Weatherby with a 3.5-10
power Vari-X3 scope that I am going to use. It will practically drive five rounds right through the same hole at 200 yards, if I'm doing the shooting. Brie

Sounds like you have been super busy!! I love to put the chunk meat in the crockpot with one large can of cream of mushroom soup! You may have to add water depending on how much it boils down . I am always looking for a good tasty way to use the burger. The tenderloin goes quick around here. I saute mushrooms and fry it in a small amt of butter. emoticon Yep, I said the b word. lol. My son logan and my husband are going out tomorrow. Let me know if you get any good recipes. emoticon

Home from Weyburn..got new tea...

Friday, November 19, 2010

Hi..it's really cold here so I'm enjoying my new tea.. tetley's Warmth cinnamon spice. It's quite yummy!! I was looking for different tea but couldn't find it.

We've got the oil site being prepared by some cats starting today..we're still struggling with getting the fence built to keep our cows out of the lease!!

I did some more shopping in Weyburn..got a bath mat and new bathroom curtains..was going to buy this medicine cabinet I saw at the Co-op but when I opened it up to look inside it didn't have any shelves??? So I just might put up the old mirror and keep looking..

I got new curtains for the family room..dark brown valances for $10 each. Should look great with the dark taupe I painted the walls. I have more of the same color paint to paint the living room, but I have more wallpaper border to take off first..groan.

Another project for the family room is take apart and move the old shuffle board table to the basement and set up a wall of low book shelves and put together a library..all books in one place.

We checked the main herd this morning out grazing in the oat fields and chopped a water hole for them in the dugout. Then we picked up our neighbor and gave him a ride to pick up his tractor in town..then on to Weyburn.

We got home right around dark and went to check the oil site..we ran into one of the cat drivers and had a visit with him. Then went on to check the herd again and check on the oil site.

Made a quick supper of salmon fillets, leftover mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. I should finish up this blog and enter food and exercise. I've finished my little pot of tea and I'm watching the movie Amelia..it's almost over...

Have a great weekend, everyone..son and his girlfriend are coming tomorrow, the guys are going hunting.

Keep on Sparkin'

Sounds like you're busy as ever! Your tea sounds yummy!! I ordered some cranberry tea from a fundraiser at school--anxiously waiting for that. How'd you make out in the storm last week? We were too far north and west--just got a bit of it.

Re: the medicine cabinet on display -- Is it possible that it has adjustable shelves and they were taken out of the one on display so they wouldn't get mis-appropriated or broken (if they were glass)? A lot of places don't completely assemble display stuff. If you ask a clerk, they should know.

Sounds like you are going great on the painting and redecorating. Your kitchen turned out great. I wish I was as brave with color as you are.

I don't envy you your weather, ours is cold enough -- more snow and blowing in the forecast...

Relaxing with tea...

Thursday, November 18, 2010

Hi..Thanks everyone for the lovely comments on my kitchen painting job. I'm really loving it :)

I painted my family room and hallway today, we got finished hauling green oat bales today..woo hoo. I helped move back and forth yesterday and today and our stupid old truck kept stalling on me and hubby had a temper tantrum over it :(

I checked 2 herds of cattle and chopped water holes for them in dugouts..the ice is about 3" thick already. That was yesterday and today. Then today we moved the big herd to the fields where the green oats were and they can do some more fall grazing. Unfortunately it's where they want to put the oil well so the company doesn't want to put up fences and texas gates for us. We have a meeting set up with them tomorrow morning, then we have to give a neighbor a ride to pick up his tractor and then head up to Weyburn for our oil change appointment that we cancelled on Wednesday So tomorrow is a busy day...

I have a very sore back and neck from painting and quadding when we moved cattle (I also went around the fence and checked it..it was very cold and blowing snow!!) I'm enjoying relaxing with a pot of black cherry berry tea..yummy.

I had a happy surprise when I weighed myself this morning..198 woo hoo :)

I did do a bit of bike riding today..until hubby came in and needed me outside and I didn't get back to it. I did night chores and then finished the painting..the room is still all taken apart not sure if I'll get a second coat on it before we get company on Saturday..since I won't be home tomorrow!

I'll post some pictures of my latest painting project when I get it all put back together..

Thanks for stopping by for tea...keep on Sparkin'

I am so glad the scale is going in the direction you want it to, Donna! Congratulations on 198! You are so busy I get tired just reading, while being somewhat envious. Beats the you-know-what out of corporate politics and all that nonsense that I deal with these days. I wish you CALM muscles after your hard work!

We have been digging out from under our first 3-days of snow here in Calgary.

Anyway, I am going to stop by tomorrow for a cyber-tea. Perhaps I can pour? Have you ever had Lapsang Souchong? It is a not-very-trendy-or-well-known-tea that quite frankly tastes like tea brewed over an open smoky fire. Has a distinctly smoky taste. Reminds me of camping, which is why I love it so much. I enjoy it just with a bit of milk or cream. Anyway, I would love to share a cuppa this with you, after your moving of animals, remodeling and massage...

Hope you have a fabulous weekend!

Sorry to hear about your sore neck and back. Is your leg all healed from the wallop it took yet?

About the hair -- I've always been too cheap to pay a hairstylist too, until lately. I'm getting more vain in direct proportion to getting older. Oh well, haha! I'm learning about eyemakeup and stuff I never did before. It'll serve us well in getting ready for your photoshoot! Can't wait. It'll be fun.

After all of the work outside today, I'm sure it feels wonderful to relax with a nice cup of tea! Our remodel is moving along. The den is down to the studs and bare floor, kitchen and bathroom cabinets are empty. I think hubby might move my stove top today . . . It is going to be an interesting two months! What color are you painting the family room and hallway? emoticon
