Montana Wild Huckleberry Tea and November goal update....

Monday, November 15, 2010

Hi..I'm having some Montana Wild Huckleberry Tea tonight as I'm relaxing and watching my favorite show.."The Closer" Anyone else like that show?

Tonight I'm doing a quick update of November goals...

#1 Tea is going really great :) I've had tea every night in November and since I made it fun..by inviting you all over to join me..and using my little yellow tea pot and fancy cup and saucer and trying new teas...it's helped me not snack in the evenings, upped my fluid intake, helped me get under 200 pounds and made a bunch of new friends besides...I'd say it's been really successful.

#2 Amp up exercise..well I've been getting my exercise in with farm work and painting...I've been riding my new bike almost every day. I haven't been doing crunches or got back to 30 day shred..I did buy the dvd in Minot but it's still in the plastic!! Great intentions!! Once fall work gets caught up I'll have more time for more organized exercise.

#3 Amp up water..see tea #1 :)

#4 Healthy foods...I've been eating a small serving of almonds almost every day and included frozen berries most days, and trying all these teas :)

#5 Staying home more so I'm not eating at restaurants, to save money and calories and get stuff done at home. Well we have been on the go more than I hoped..but the scale has been good to me anyway. As for staying home..I have been getting lots of Christmas shopping done... better now than in December..I just heard we're supposed to get more snow in December than we've seen in 100 years. Hope I can stay home more for the last half of the month!!

#6 Home improvement projects are coming along good. I finished the bathroom and started on the kitchen. It also had a wallpaper border which I spent most of this afternoon taking off..yuck..not as easy as the bathroom..bigger room, higher up and more stubborn. I'm pretty stiff and sore from yesterday and from the border scrapping !! I put a bit of the paint on the wall to see what it looks like..hope I like it. I want to do some fall cleaning too in the rooms that don't need painting..I still want to paint our bedroom, the 2 porches , the family room and the living room..will I soon be sick of painting? You bet!!!

#7 Christmas prep..going along great. I have almost all the gifts bought or ordered. Christmas baking ingredients are almost all bought. Got the cards, pictures and writing paper..just have to type a letter and print it out on the Christmas paper, then address them. I've been using the flylady Holiday cruising missions.

#8 Next was streaks..been tracking food, water, exercises daily and blogging most days..yeah!!

#9 I haven't been charting like I hoped but I have been keeping pretty good track of stuff..tho I was going to track how many miles on the bike..I'll try to do better next month.

#10 Reach "one"derland....woo hoo 199.5 :)

I've finished my pot of tea..hope you enjoyed the tea and the chat. Have a very successful week and thanks for all the comments and visits to my blog..come by any time for more hospitali "tea".

We spent this morning getting the truck and load of bales unstuck..then hubby hauled a few more loads, then he helped a neighbor by hauling his tractor to town to get fixed. When he got home he tried to haul another load of bales and got stuck again :(. We also had to work on a tractor to get it started and moved into the yard before it turns really cold in a few days. I did make some progress on painting.. I also rode my bike for 30 minutes and put on 6 miles.

Well. time to sign off..keep on Sparkin'

Mandarin orange tea tonight!!

Sunday, November 14, 2010

Hi..we're home from the football party!! and the Roughriders won woohoo. We had snacks at the party and supper after. I had a couple chicken wings, and a few chips with the shrimp dip I brought. Also a couple light beer. For supper we had roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and salads. For dessert I brought a mint chocolate chip cookie pizza :) yummm. I still have to track the rest of today's food.

I'm relaxing with mandarin orange green tea. Quite bland compared to gingerbread spice tea but still yummy :)

I put my bathroom back together after painting. I'm quite happy with how it looks. Still need new curtains and bath mat.

We helped the neighbors sort their calves from the cows and then sort the heifers from the steers. Then loaded the 2 semi-trailers. It took about 3 hours..from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m. Then we went in for coffee and a visit. It's a real work out chasing and sorting cattle and I'm pooped tonight. I'm also sore, since I backed up and feel into a tractor tire trough!! I am such a klutz :) New bruise..no pictures haha!!!

When we got home I helped move hubby to haul bales after lunch. He hauled a few loads while I caught up with dishes and made the food for the party tonight. Then hubby came in with the tractor and the 4 x 4 broke on the truck and the load of bales was stuck in the muddy field (It was quite mild today and we got some rain on top of our snow..not good hauling weather!) We went out and tried to work on the truck but couldn't get it unstuck...maybe when it freezes overnight.

Tomorrow I'm going to do an update on November's goals. It's supposed to be mild again so we might not get to haul any bales!

Thanks again for all the comments on my blogs..I love having you all drop by for tea....take care and keep on Sparkin'

Mmm I love tea too! My Mom's family were all from a Ranching background. Only one Cousin carried on with the family farm. Brings back memories of visiting my Grandparents.

New tea background...

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Hi..a few days ago I tried to down load this tea pot picture to a blog and it wouldn't work so I thought I'd try it as a new background picture..it worked :)
I am trying to learn more and more about computers. I'm really bad at figuring out things..it's like hit any key..so give me a sledge hammer!!..another cute thing I saw was a "Maxine" cartoon..she's on her computer and says...I keep hitting escape..but I'm still here!!

Well, I'm having another pot of gingerbread spice tea since it was so yummy last night! I helped Hubby get gates from our far away pasture, it was really, really foggy all day today, so quite scary on the roads. Then we checked cows with the truck, moved the bulls, turned out the cattle we brought home yesterday, then got back to hauling bales. I helped move out to the field for the first load, then hubby hauled by himself, since the bales were so close together. Then I drove the tractor in for the last load after dark..it was still foggy and really hard to see where I was going!! We got 6 more loads in today :)

While hubby was hauling I worked on the bathroom, got the second coat on the walls and freshened up the baseboards, door, frames and counter top..more or less just painted every thing in sight!!Good thing hubby was outside or I probably would have painted him too, haha.

Then I used rust remover to try and clean the tub, sink and toilet!! Anyone else have horrible iron in their water that wrecks fixtures, etc? Ours is so bad oldest daughter..who is blond had her hair turn rusty brown as a teenager..just from our water...I used to joke that I didn't have to dye my hair since the rust covered the grey!! haha..I dye it now..either too much grey or I just don't wash my hair often enough haha.

I painted the bathroom a taupe color..I took some before pictures and when I get the rest of the decorating done..I still need some new curtains and a new bath matt, I'll take some after pictures and try to post them :)

When I have time I'm painting the kitchen, too. I picked a deep terra cotta for the walls. I'm repainting the cupboards white and then stencilling coffee cups on the doors in the terra cotta color..I'm doing a coffee theme.

Tomorrow we're helping our neighbor sort his calves for market, he's selling 2 semi-loads, he has lots of cattle!! We have to be there a 7 a.m. Then I hope we'll get a few more loads of bales hauled. We're also invited to a football party at slo-pitch team friend's place. Saskatchewan made the play offs. We might go, but Hubby's not much of a football fan :( We'll see. It's for supper so I need to think of something to bring, besides.

I found some time to ride the bike for 3.5 miles today. I'm taking some time to relax with my pot of tea and we're watching a hockey game on tv.

Thanks to everyone who has stopped by for tea the last few days..I really appreciate all your comments and inspiration!!!

In a few days I'm planning to do a bit of a recap of how my goals are going for November..the tea is going great..haven't missed a day :) The weight is inching down too!!

Well, I better go for now..thanks for stopping by for tea..hope you're enjoying your weekend. Have a great day tomorrow..Keep on Sparkin'

Gingerbread spice tea and 199.5..woohoo....

Friday, November 12, 2010

Hi! Tonight I'm having a pot of Gingerbread spice tea..I'm sharing with my hubby, and there's lots to share with you too. It's very yummy!!

Woohoo when I weighed myself this morning I was 199.5 :) That makes me very happy :) I even had time to put a couple miles on my bike!!

We hauled a few more loads of bales this morning, fed cattle in the corrals and bales to the main herd. They are out of fall grazing where they're at but we don't have the green oat bales off the big fall grazing fields..we have 5 or 6 hundred bales there yet. The snow makes it harder to haul. After lunch a friend helped us haul the far herd of cattle home..way more snow 30 miles east of here..glad to have them home :) We each made 2 trips, hubby rounded them up with his horse and I was on foot with a 5 gallon pail of oats to lure them into the corral. Then, after a quick visit over coffee..we went to town for the mail and some groceries..It's been a week since we got the mail.

We had a late supper of frozen pizza..usually Friday's supper is fish or pizza. I have a weekly menu plan for supper..Sunday..chicken; Monday..pasta; Tuesday..Ethnic; Wednesday..Roast beef; Thursday..pork chops; Friday..pizza or fish; Saturday..BBQ steaks :) It really helps to know what to cook. Does any one else do weekly menu plans?

Well, I'm finished my pot of tea! I haven't tracked my food or exercise yet so I should go for now.

I had no time or energy to paint the second coat on the bathroom, or even do the dishes!!! Tomorrow's another day.

Hope you all had a super day, Thanks for all the comments on my blogs, your encouragements are so helpful, for keeping me motivated. The first thing I do in the morning..after potty break, and weighing..I check on Spark to see what's new!!

Talk to you all tomorrow..Keep on Sparkin'

Stop by for tea... emoticon

Hi! Your Gingerbread tea caught my eye! I love teas, too. Ice Tea in the summer and hot teas now that our weather has gotten cold.(I'm from Minnesota & we are having a winter storm today 6-12 inches of snow.) Congrats on your weight loss! Great job.
You sound like a very busy lady! I know about baling - we have cattle (smaller farm)& I grew up on a dairy farm. That's hard, calorie burning work! Have a wonderful weekend!

Bales, bathroom walls and blueberry tea :)

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Hi all..I'm just relaxing with my little tea pot..tonight is very blueberry herbal tea from my variety pack.

I'm very tired today..We were off to check cows this morning when the truck broke down so we spent most of the morning working on the truck...then we checked and fed the main herd and started hauling bales after lunch...we got four loads in..the snow and mud made it take longer :(

We had a later supper of grilled pork chops (I love my grill pan!!) green beans, and hubby had baked potatoes and I had my favorite,,spinach salad. For dessert I had made apple crisp at coffee time so I had a small bowl of that with a tiny bit of ice cream..After I blog I'm going to enter my food and exercise..another day I found no time to ride my bike..did lots of farm work like night chores, carried in wood, shovelled snow and worked on truck and bales.

After supper I painted the first coat on the bathroom..I had taken the wallpaper border off this morning while hubby had coffee and patched the holes and cracks..the joy of living in an old, old house!

Now I remember why I'm tired tonight :)

I am enjoying the tea and the relaxing...when I weighed in this morning I'm down to 201 so I hope I'm back under 200 soon! If I could just find time for my bike.....

Well, thanks for stopping by for a chat and a cup of tea..hope your day has been terrific and have a spark-tacular day tomorrow,

Keep on Sparkin' emoticon

Remember to remember Remembrance Day and all the Military and all they've done :) I couldn't find a poppy icon..imagine one here.......

Wow! I don't think you need to ride a bike. You just got more exercise in one day than most people get in a week. I mean snow, truck, cows, bales, wallpaper, paint, & Cooking dinner??
Oh, my gosh, I think I've just found Superwoman! Your doing an excellent job of getting in more than enough exercise for a day. I raise my cup to you. Enjoy your tea and anything else that helps you relax. Then bottle some of that energy and send it my way! Thanks for sharing your story. emoticon emoticon
