Back to tea and snow!!!

Wednesday, November 10, 2010

Hi..we had a lot of snow overnight and today..5 or 6 inches or more and some blown into banks. We had to travel for a meeting for hubby. I went along so I could get paint and do a bit more Christmas shopping. The roads were horrible early this morning and coming home!!

Now I'm just relaxing by the fire (we have 2 wood stoves) and making a pot of new tea..it's a 5 variety pack..this one is wild berry zinger yumyum!!

We're not ready for winter..still lots of bales but those can be hauled through the snow. Just not used to the cold weather after last weeks heat wave.

I was really happy with my paint purchases..I found some paint that was mixed wrong..$10 for a gallon..I got the lady to add a bit of black and now it's the greyish brown I wanted. The terra cotta looks good too, at least in the store since I didn't open it at home yet. Now just to find time to paint.

I did a sh*t load of Christmas shopping today. I got the gift bags I needed for everybody and lots of pjs, books, ornaments..to decorate the gift bags..gotta love the dollar store!!! I found the printed letter paper to run through the printer for my Christmas letter and prints of pictures to put in the cards.

I like to give nieces and nephews a gift so I get them $5 Tim Horton gift cards to mail in their Christmas cards..they live across Canada, I used to give then lotto scratch tickets but you have to be in Saskatchewan to claim them. I have 11 nieces and nephews.

I found a solar powered lawn snowflake for one of my friends..looked in Minot for them and couldn't find them but good old Weyburn had them :)

I'm kind of stuck for my father-in-law..I'll get him a gift card but want a few little things to go with it.....any ideas?

I need to buy a few more gift cards and some little things for stocking stuffers...tooth brushes, tooth paste, bubble bath, shower gel, candy..just usual stocking stuffer stuff. I also ordered a few books and a calendar that should arrive in November :)

I bought a few more ingredients for some baking..it's one of my favorite things to do :) I bought a few dollar store shirt boxes to make baking trays (also bought Christmas paper baking cups) and I'll give them to a couple of my best friends that work outside of their farms. On a side note, one of those friends has a daughter who is expecting triplets in March!!!! She already has a 10 yr old girl and a 2 year old boy and these are all three boys.

Well, that's enough about me..hope your week is going great and you all find some time to relax with a pot of tea!!

When I weighed myself this a.m. I was 202 so I'm back on track today with more sensible eating. I did a lot of walking today..through deep snow and against a wind. I hope tomorrow I can get back on my bike. I'll be back at 199 in no time.

Better go for now..talk tomorrow...keep on Sparkin

and stop by for tea and a chat anytime..ps thanks for all the comments

I'm not ready for snow yet, we've had a wonderful heat wave. Sure doesn't make it seem like Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away!

Thanks for the tea and the chat! Hope you have a wonderful day!
P.S. We are picking out cabinets for the kitchen today! emoticon

Home from Minot..enjoyed my mini holiday :)

Tuesday, November 09, 2010

Hi..it's late but we got home from our mini holiday to Minot/ We had a great time..but the scale won't thank me tomorrow, I'm sure..too many treats. On a happier note I was 199 when I left, woo hoo even for awhile :)

The weather was quite crappy on the way home, a bit of snow/rain.

I'm relaxing with a pot of tea. Some of the things I bought was some tea so I'll be trying some new ones.

We stayed in a nice hotel with a pool, hot tub and sauna. The pool was cold so I only swam a few laps, then we warmed up in the sauna and the hot tub.

I was glad to get some Christmas shopping done...I found lots of cool things and some great ideas for people. I found some neat western gift wear for close friends of ours..even half price at Hobby Lobby. I came up with an Idea for Mother-in-law..I got her a Thomas Kinkade calendar, puzzle and a cup with goodies. Then I'll get her a gift card to go with it.

I always give the kids a book, a calendar and pj's plus a card with cash :) I give the granddaughters the same plus some toys. I got some pjs, calendars, books and toys. Also some groceries and Christmas baking supplies. I bought some treats for me..the new Reba cd, A Jillian shred dvd, lots of magazines, a couple of new books, a couple of mew shirts. New towels for my soon to be renovated bathroom.

We have to go up to Weyburn tomorrow for hubby's meeting. I hope to get the paint to do my bathroom..a greyish brown. And the kitchen will be terra cotta.

Well, I've finished my pot of tea and should head to bed soon!!

Thanks for all the comments on my blog..very encouraging to know we're not in this alone :)

Stop by anytime for tea..talk to you tomorrow..keep on sparkin'

Sounds like a relaxing and productive trip! Yay!! on seeing 199 . . . hopefully the scale wont lean too heavily into the 200 today . . . mayber it will surprise you and remain on the 100's side. the colors for your rooms sound nice . . . I new a light bright color for my bathroom since it has no windows. As for the kitchen it will be opening up into a brick colored dining room, so I'm thinking maybe a soft gold with either wood or white cabinets and white appliances (already have those!)

Missed blogging yesterday..more tea and bales!!!

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Hi..I'm just sitting here relaxing with my pot of tea :)

I missed yesterday's blog...we hauled 11 loads of bales and then went to our ball team wind up. I wasn't feeling verry great..bad sinus headache :( so we didn't stay too late, just watched the end of the football game and then played in a ping pong tournament!!! Had a couple beer but stayed away from the snacks.

Today we hauled 12 loads of bales :) I'm feeling a bit better today..just about ready for bed. We're leaving in the morning to Minot, North Dakota for a couple days. Do some early Christmas shopping :) So much for my staying home lots in November!!

We are going to Weyburn on Wednesday when we get back from Minot, since hubby has a meeting. I want to get the paint for the bathroom and kitchen so I can work on that soon.

I missed riding my bike yesterday but managed to ride for 30 minutes today while hubby fed some bales for when we're away. I'm still pleased with my weight..I was even 200.5 yesterday but today I'm at 201 it's all good.

Hope you all had a great weekend. Have a great week and thanks for all the comments and for stopping by for some tea!!!

Keep on Sparkin'

More tea and bales...

Friday, November 05, 2010

Hi..I was trying to down load a picture of my tea tray but I don't think it was working....oh well.I'll try again later!

We spent the day hauling bales and got 9 loads in today!! 2 loads were in one slough so I took that time and checked the last far away herd of cattle still grazing with their calves. I took them oats and minerals. We'll have to get them hauled home one of these days..when more bales are hauled.

Hubby went to town really early for mail, etc so I did a bit of housework and rode my exercise bike..10 miles :)

We finished the last load of bales for the night after dark so I threw in a frozen pizza and helped with chores. So supper was ham and pineapple pizza, lime beer, and cantaloupe. I really got my fruit in today..banana with breakfast, orange with lunch, an apple for a snack, too.

I'm relaxing and enjoying my pot of raspberry thriller tea. For Christmas last year one of my sisters gave e me a little homemade tea time book. I|t's one of those made from brown paper lunch bags (3) and they are placed with alternating open ends, then she sewed the center and punched holes and threaded fancy yarns and tied them. She used stamps and colored papers to decorate. She place tea bags into each of the pockets and included the types of tea on each tea bag. Then she wrote interesting tea facts on the pages. It's really cute.

Thought I might share some of the tea facts..WHY HAVING A CUP OF TEA REALLY DOES MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER
-it has stress relieving properties
-contains antioxidants
-improves and repairs skin
-fights cancer
-kills germs
-hydrates..tea is second only to water for hydrating and replenishing the body
-promotes heart health
-reduces stress
-maintains brain power

I am enjoying my pot of tea even more now!!

Thanks for dropping by for a cup of tea (and thanks for commenting on my blogs)

Take care all...and keep on sparkin'

p.s. I lost 1.5 pounds..201....woohoo emoticon

I like the fact that your drinking tea in the evening, and making it fun and special. I think that's a really good idea. Sometimes in the evenings I just want to sit and relax and I feel like I should be eating or drinking sometime. I think I'll start an evening tea party myself, since I love tea and now I know all of its benefits! Thanks for the idea and the motivation!

Still hauling bales....

Thursday, November 04, 2010

Hi all..I'm here for a quick blog..I spent all day helping hubby haul bales. We got 8 loads in today, the best day yet this year!! and they were the furthest away ones, besides. We haul 11 big round bales on a trailer behind our truck. We've had so much other stuff going on we had been just averaging 5 loads a day. Hope we can still to it and get up to 10 or more loads a day since we still have 6 or 7 hundred bales to haul!!

I'm taking a much needed rest with my feet up, lap top on my lap and pot of tea beside me :) I went along every load but one..where the bales were close in a slough. During that trip I quadded the main herd and took pictures of the oil site before they come to develop it. The driller was in the yard before 7 a.m. and they were going to move the rig in today..just two problems..we don't have our money yet and the site needs about 4 days of cat work to make it level enough!!!

I want to thank everyone who stopped by for tea :) The pot's always on and I love the company :) I'm having another pot of raspberry thriller..yummy. On the package it says the ingredients are: hibiscus flowers, rose hips, orange peel, roasted chicory root, lemon balm leaves, cinnamon bark, raspberry leaves, natural flavors and citric acid. That's a lot of stuff in one little tea bag!! It's a herbal tea but I don't worry about caffeine keeping me up nights!!! I fall asleep the instant my head hits the pillow and sleep 7 to 8 hours every night. Even with all the coffee I drink (the tea is to make me healthier than coffee..but so far it's been as well as my usual coffee..hey it's a start!!) I've been known to drink coffee in the evening, after several pots all day and fall asleep with a cup in my hand!!! Too much fresh air and manual labor..the joys of farm life :)

Well I found out about the 5000 crunch challenge on Team Sask..it's for the whole team!!haha..it would help if I read the whole challenge and not just the e-mail!! I'm in for sure :)

Well I really should finish my tea and have a nice long bubble bath :)

On to more bales tomorrow...Keep on Sparkin'

Hi, I'm not surprised you go to sleep as soon as your head hits the pillow! Hundreds of those big bales is a lot of hauling and a lot of ground to cover. Any chance you'll strike it rich with that oil site? emoticon
