First round up a fault :(

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Hi back from a crummy round up that lasted way late since I let a calf go back and we all spent lots of time looking for it..hopefully tomorrow is better!! We started at 3pm and should have been done in a couple hours instead it was after dark when we got home :) On a positive note I traded quad to hubby for his horse so I spent some time on horse back, it's been a couple knees and butt will be sore tomorrow!

We've been trying to enter the take out books on a program from the office, but hubby's computer won't play the disc and when I put it on my computer it wouldn't print :( Boy I hope tomorrow is a better day..can't be much worse!

We had some company for coffee this a.m. neighbor who's the R.M. councillor for our division..with some culvert work, then he said he's ready to retire and wants me to take his place!! not sure I'm ready for that!! There has never been a female councillor in this R.M.

Well better be off to bed..oh yeah..had to wash bedding (cat puked on bed) so still need to make bed..groan, it really has been one of those days

take care..I'll be beat tomorrow with take-out..see you then :)

Cats and calves had it in for you today! You never sound bitchy even when its been a tough day. It's wonderful news about your oldest daughter -- wow, it must have been a worry for you until now! What's and R.M. councilor? Whatever it is, I'm sure you'd do a great job, or he wouldn't suggest it! Where you'd find the time is another matter.... emoticon

You can just figure that you used up at least a whole month's worth of (negative stuff) in one day: so you've got 29 days clear sailing ahead . . . at least!!

Nothing like ending the day with cat puke in the bed! ha ha!
I guess the cat was just expressing what you were feeling with all you went through today.
Well...Tomorrow will be a brand new day! Keep your chin up and know that you got all this icky stuff behind you!
Also...Take it as a compliment if the R.M. Councillor wants you to take his place. At least he see's your potential! Good Luck! emoticon emoticon

Calfs just have a mind of their own sometimes! We had to move our small herd this past Sunday (29 head)closer to home as the ponds on that pasture are dried up and we have been hauling water. We had the last bunch in the catch pen, except for one darn bull calf who would not go in. I had to turn his mother back out with him! Later on in the day we went back over there, put some feed down in the pen for the mama cow and just waited . . . he finally went in with her and we were able to load them up and move them. It was aggravating because we had to make another trip late in the day, but you know how it is, when working with cows YOU are on THEIR timetable (LOL)!

Hauling more bales today....

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

Hi I helped hubby haul a few more loads of bales, then drove the tractor home about 6 miles..we won't have time to haul bales for awhile as we start PFRA community pasture take outs. Tomorrow is the first round up, then we'll sort the cattle on Thursday into separate pens then the owners will take them home . Then it starts all over next Monday..round up and Tuesday take out! Very long, labor intensive, tiring days!

In between the take outs I'm heading up to granddaughter's birthday party..The sleep over and water slides at a hotel :)

Then after all the cattle are out of the pastures well be back hauling bales full force..then it will be time to round up our own cattle and sort off the calves to sell :)

October is always one of the busiest months here on the ranch :)

Hope everyone is having a super October..My funny is from my big Maxine calendar..I just noticed some frost on my pumpkins..time to start wearing a bra again! haha

Keep on Sparkin'

I would say that working in the "Country" is more intensive than working out in a local gym! It's cardio and strength training all wrapped up in one! Keep up the good job but be sure to get your "Breakers" in there too! emoticon

Thankful for a great Thanksgiving!!!!

Monday, October 11, 2010

Hi I'm home from my busy Thanksgiving weekend :)

We had a great meal and visit with my daughter, her 2 girls and her new boyfriend yesterday, then we took son back home to Saskatoon, then ordered pizza for supper and stayed overnight. Then we went home through Regina and did a small bit of shopping..hubby was disappointed that Princess Auto was closed for the Holiday :(

Granddaughter's were tons of fun..we went for a walk around their acreage after lunch, visited the cats and dogs and horses then bounced on the trampoline until one of them hit me in the head with an exercise ball (no idea why it was on the trampoline, along with all the other balls they owned!) Now my new glasses are a bit bent......hubby likes to play indoor soccer with my exercise ball so I guess it runs in the family haha.

We played some WII games..the five year old beat me bad at wakeboarding..she got 979 points and I got 9!!! I really should never try real wake boarding!!!

When we got home it was drizzling so no haying for awhile, hubby returned some phone calls and then we hauled some bales home..22 home today 1400 more to go!! and still some more left to make.

Well I've enjoyed Thanksgiving and I'm very thankful for all that's been happening lately to be thankful for..most importantly Oldest Daughter's last biopsy came back cancer-free for the first time since the diagnosis, surgeries and treatments over the last year :)
Also thankful for finding sparkpeople, losing 15 pounds and gaining improved health and all you wonderful new friends!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving (Canada style all the turkey and trimmings but none of the shopping!)

and Thank you sparkies :)

Happy Thanksgiving

Sunday, October 10, 2010

Hi..I can't believe I missed yesterday's blog..first time since Sept 1.

Our son and girlfriend came down from Saskatoon two nights ago, then girl friend went to birthday party in Regina and is of this morning to as Vegas for a girls getaway.

Son and hubby went bird hunting all day yesterday, then we had company in the evening.

I did some sorting in the basement, son has left tons of stuff and got him to go through

a bit of it.

Now this morning we're off to oldest daughter's for Thanksgiving, bringing son along then taking him back to Saskatoon later today..will probably stay over night at his place tonight.

I have the pumpkin pies baked and the sweet potato casserole already to take along with whip cream and cranberries :) I think I'll be back doing the shred after today!!!

Hope you all have a very Happy Thanksgiving..remember..the best thing to gain over the holidays is JOY ;0

Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Bon apetit!
And I hope you thoroughly enjoy decluttering that basement by getting your son to deal with it in a big and conclusive way.

Happy Thanksgiving to a Fellow Canadian. I'm having it at my place on Monday as no one is travelling in. It is raining here in the South Okanagn so I think I will be getting my exercise by doing some much needed housework!

Have a great day!
