Thanks for all the quick and easy meal ideas

Sunday, April 14, 2013

Hi..I want to start by thanking everyone for sharing quick and easy meal ideas.. always great to have some fresh, new ideas

For meals today I had grapefruit and cold cereal and milk for breakfast/ lunch was an omelet..heavy on the veggies and salsa on the side/ supper was oven baked chicken, sweet potato, veggies and a sliver of impossible coconut pie.

I helped with the usual chores today, and helped clean and restraw the school buses we use for calf shelters.

I did quite a bit of catching up in the house..baked the pie and some raisin bread, worked on my art journal, surfed the net and checked out all my favorite sites.. Spark, facebook, pinterest and my emails...oh and the weather Still too darn cold, and we had some new snow today :( At least it wasn't the huge amount forecast!! yet!!

Been getting my 7+ servings of freggies for the 5%'s hard to believe this is the last week!!

I really slept in this morning so that was much needed!! We had one calf today, but unfortunately the little one I had been bottle feeding didn't make it close and work on another project...

...Thanks for dropping by and for all your comments and encouragement ..Keep on Sparkin'

Love Donna emoticon

Sad about the calf. It's so hard losing our babies. I know, they're farm animals, but we wouldn't raise them if we didn't care.

Love your energy. It makes me want to jump up and get some projects done. Love the idea of the old schoolbuses. I have an old camper shell that is a chicken house now. We had an old Winne we were going to convert as a goat shed but someone wanted it and hubby sold it.

Off to find a fresh pad for spring ideas and projects. Thanks for the inspiration!

Have a grand week full of emoticon

It must be heartbreaking to bottle-feed a calf and then lose it in the end. I am so sorry.
Still praying for some sunshine for you. I wished, I could share ours with you.

Windy night...

Sunday, April 14, 2013 far our weather is just windy and cold..hope the snow stays away and the sn comes out peeked out a few times today but didn't stay :(

I was out quite a few times to help with chores, checks and calves...we put new straw in sheds so I helped with that too....but the day was mostly filled with doing farm books on the computer...

Tonight I'm just on the couch with my laptop and the hockey beer..had that with was hubby's idea...

Today's meals were breakfast ..toast and a grapefruit/ lunch veggie soup, a bun with ham and spinach and carrot sticks on the side/ supper was steaks, green beans, more carrot sticks and a spinach salad...dessert a small piece of pumpkin sheet cake...

One day I'll have to get back to some spring cleaning..maybe once spring really arrives!! Read this cute saying..."When someone tries to rain on your parade just poke them in the eye with your umbrella.." lol It reminds me of the saying..when someone makes you mad walk a mile in their shoes..then you'll be a mile away and you'll have their shoes....

Well this is just a short calves yet today..I have a little less than 2 hours until the midnight check and then off to bed...

Today in spark coach I was supposed to blog about quick and easy meals...I think my favorite quick meal would have to be a the suggestions of an omelet or a portabella mushroom pizza..yum yum...what are some of your favorite quick and easy meal ideas??

Thanks for dropping by..keep on sparkin'

emoticonI've got SUNSHINE on a cloudy day..... emoticon

ps..did anyone else see the spark article on the 16 sunny workout songs? I saved it for later reference... emoticon

You always have the busiest days. My favorite easy meal is panzanella. My version is pesto and fresh tomatoes with black olives and stale bread and mozzarella, but there are many other ways to make this.Great way to eat on a hot Summer night.

i love egg in a cup. and i love swish card and spinach in a pan with garlic add a lid in three minutes veggies done. cooking good does not take as long as others sometimes think and you can do other things while you wait. Right now I have beef stew in the crock pot that took about 15 mins to put together and i will will have all day to do other things. hugs hang in there the nice weather is coming soon i hope

My favourite quick meal is scrambled eggs with bacon, mushroom and chives and a little milk.

I saw a programme on TV today about carob ...yes that yucky faux chocolate of the '70s mums tried to ply us with.
It's had a renewal and is now better so my job this week (oh next week as I shop fortnightly) is to source some and see if it lives up to the hype. Now there is a syrup that is like Maple syrup but has a lot of other goodies as well.

Ingredients: Carob and Water

While your taste buds are being treated to a party, your insides are getting some love too.
Our Carob Syrup is:

I agree with the ladies below. You need some rest and could, certainly, use a day of pampering. Did the weather hold up, today.
Any more calves?
Thinking of you daily. Hang in there!

Road trip to Weyburn...

Friday, April 12, 2013

Hi..our road trip to Weyburn was just a quick one so I tagged along..we were gone just over 3 hours and this time we didn't have any calves born :) We did have one calf today before we left...

The morning was cold and cloudy with off and on snow..we did up chores, had a quick lunch of leftovers and headed out on our road had actually been months since we were in Weyburn together lol.

We did our banking and bill paying first and I returned my cell phone that had quit working (got a loaner while mine is sent away) then did a bit of shopping..I bought some potting soil to start some plants and told the clerk I miss dirt so I needed to buy some :)

We had some gift cards to use up so we picked up chicken for supper at home and some coffee and donuts at Tim Horton's :) I've been trying to not indulge too much, everyone needs treats once in awhile....

When we got home hubby did chores while I walked the little pasture and checked the pairs..hubby has been feeding the calf as it has stopped sucking the bottle and needed to be tubed (he's better at doing that than me)

Today was phone day...for having such a small house we have lots of phones...our wall phone in the kitchen quit working and the 2 cordless phones we have, have been not lasting long with their charge..several months ago I bought new cordless phones (a box of 3 this time)..So we charged them up and replaced the cordless phones and I took the corded phone from our bedroom in the basement to put in the kitchen and then put the 3rd cordless phone in our room.....ha ha

So now I am having a relaxing evening...I got 2 new magazines so after computer time will be reading time..then midnight check and off to bed....I will be glad when calving is done and I can go to bed before midnight!! yawn...hubby has been sleeping on the couch for awhile but when I get in from the check I'll wake him up to go to bed and then he'll get up once in the night to check...we've been doing this for more than 1 1/2 months.....

Another day when no spring cleaning was accomplished...boohoo..

When I was posting on the 5%challenge I was whining about the math (I hate math.. hubby loves math) So he asked about it so I was describing the exercise minutes get added up and the mindful eating meals get added I told him I could just add 2 for mindful eating since we had supper in front of the tv with Big Bang...and he said I could always eat behind the tv lol (way too dusty lol)

Well thanks for dropping by and for all your kind comments..keep warm and keep on sparkin'

Treats are good for us, they keep us on track when we need to be good. We have something to look forward to.

I got a magazine today too--super food ideas. LOL.

Glad you got a time out, hope the collar-bone is feeling better.

Also nice of the cows to wait till you get home to have their calves.

Phones: - we have one in the games room, one in the office, one in the shed down the hill which is hubby's workshop where he builds his panels for the industrial places. (Electronics- he is a whizz, can make a machine go faster, slower, do all sorts of things, excellent mind for how things work and how to design and build panels to do the job. )

Must be where Bec got her brains.

The three phones are a set and are really hard to hear anyone on, only good use is as an intercom when a customer rings and hubby is in the workshop.

Have a lovely day.

I can't believe the forecast is for MORE SNOW!!! ugh...

Wednesday, April 10, 2013's cold and windy tonight after a mostly cool but sunny day...

We managed to go to town together today for a short the mail (had a registered letter that hubby couldn't get yesterday..had to sign for it) and got some more cattle supplies and a treat.. went out for lunch :) Only the bar was open so we ate there. Hubby had the fish and chips special and I had the soup and sandwich special...

My other meals were oatmeal and dates for breakfast/ and supper was a burger with mushrooms, a spinach salad and extra veggies.

I helped with all the regular chores..checks, bottle feed calf, help with bales etc...I was climbing over a panel and I used my wrong arm to hold my weight and my sore collar bone kicked in bad..ouch!! So I'm feeling quite stiff and sore tonight :(

Now I'm relaxing on the couch with my laptop, the hockey game and a light beer.... I've been catching up on emails, playing scrabble, chatting with my daughter (son had phoned earlier) chatting with my sister and one of my best friends...

Some nice for me things for today was time to read my new magazines..the one from yesterday and another new one today, and I nice long bubble bath to soak way some aches and pains....

I'm wearing my pink cow shirt (it says "Deja moo..I've heard this before") for anti bullying day..

Not sure what's on tap for tomorrow..will have to see what hubby has planned..he needs a road trip to Weyburn to do some banking, pay some bills, get some supplies. So I may be on cow duty!! We had one calf today..while we were gone to town..we were gone less than 2 hours and it's a 30 minute drive one way so we didn't spend too much time away!!

Well best keep this short...thanks for dropping by and for all your kind comments!! Keep warm and keep on Sparkin'
