Ordered the Spark Solution...

Wednesday, April 10, 2013

Hi...I decided to order the Spark Solution today since today is the last day to order and get the free stuff..the 500 spark points, the 2 DVD's and 3 months of spark coach. So I have lots to look forward to :) Got the points and the spark coach right away..have to wait for about a month or so for the rest to come in the mail....

It really brightened my day...

Speaking of my day..I did the usual chores, checks and bottle feeding and helping with the bales..got lots and lots of walking in...

..then made a couple batches of cookies for hubby..froze most in small bags to pull out later :)

Hubby went to town for the mail and to do some business...I stayed home to keep an eye on the cows...it's good to be down to 25 to calve!!

My meals were simple and yummy breakfast was my normal oatmeal and dates/ lunch was homemade freezer toaster waffles, sausage patties, and scrambled eggs/ supper was chicken stir fry heavy on the veggies and a mini tapioca pudding...

I vegged out and watched the women's hockey final..Canada lost to the USA :(

Didn't have any time to work on the spring cleaning..my collar bone is still tender so not doing anything extra that's strenuous ....

It was a bit sunny today and melting a bit in the sun..here's hoping for warm weather, clear skies and more sunshine!!

Thanks for dropping by..keep on Sparkin'

Love Donna emoticon

Brrr...this is one cold spring...

Tuesday, April 09, 2013

Hi..it is soo cold here and getting colder overnight!! We had 3 calves today so we have about 25 left to calve...we are on the down hill slide...

..Just relaxing tonight with beer and hockey...

I need to use my sunny blog to cheer me up as I'm not feeling too cheerful today.... I'm around too much negativity and it has finally pushed me off the edge...

I helped with the typical chores..walked the herds, bottle feed the calf...last night I fell into the barn door as I was trying to push it open (my foot slipped) and I hit hard on my collarbone ..now it hurts like everything and I thought it would be bruised but I have a lump there and it's really tender :) Probably part of my foul mood...

Trying not to eat away my blues..meals were my favorite breakfast..oatmeal and dates/ lunch was a smokie and a big lettuce salad and some raw carrots/ supper was a noodle, beef and tomato sauce dish with extra muxhrooms and onions..made jello for dessert...While I was browning the burger for the casserole I made a quick homemade cheese burger pizza for 2 Fridays away and wrapped it and put it in the freezer.

I didn't do too much for spring cleaning..cleaned up the kitty litter area in the basement..we have 2 house kitties so 2 litter boxes..one in the basement and one in the bathroom upstairs...

Boo..Edmonton just lost the hockey game...

Well time to kick back and relax..thanks for dropping by and keep warm and keep on Sparkin....

Love Donna emoticon

If the lump doesn't go away, you might need to have your collarbone checked. I think they only strap them when they're broken, but not really sure.

I really hope your last 25 calves arrive soon and the warm weather comes your way. April is such a mixed-up mess of a month... crocus and snow!

I hope that you and DH (or just you) will be able to get a mini-break soon. You work so hard that I know you need it. I worry when you talk about negativity surrounding you, and I remember a bad time you wrote about last year. Please take care of yourself.

Hugs, Gail emoticon emoticon emoticon

Oh you poor old thing hitting your collar bone, make sure you keep an eye on it it's not much of a bone and could be damaged!!!!

It's gets you down when the weather doesn't change when expected, we are suffering too, waiting for rain, we don't get hardly any in summer and had to get some water delivered today. No autumn yet still 34 deg C today.

Yesterday the clouds rolled over but dropped no rain for us. Meanies!!!

Still I'll keep my face to the sun as you say... emoticon emoticon emoticon

Today we woke up to ......more snow....ugh...

Sunday, April 07, 2013

Hi..this really is the winter that won't quit!! Besides the new snow today we are getting really cold overnight...yikes..this is not helping hubby's mood..

We had 2 new calves today and I helped with the usually chores and walked through the little pasture and the pairs morning and evening. Gave the calf 2 bottles...helped with some bales, etc..

I started on some of the spring housecleaning..aka..lighten up the house. I sorted out the bathroom and washed the walls, curtains, mats etc...so one room done :)

Meals were breakfast cold cereal, milk and a banana/ lunch eggs, homemade sausage patty and toast/ supper oven baked chicken, sweet potato, veggies and a small slice of chocolate mocha pie...

Last night I found the coolest website through Pinterest called zenhabits....so many blogs I just want to read them all at once :)

Tonight I'm just vegging on the couch watching the ACMA's I love country music hubby not so much...at least not the newer stuff...we are all cozy in the house with the wood stove going...we took a couple hours this afternoon to cut up some more wood for the stove...will this winter never quit??

Well I think I will go get myself a light beer and continue chilling on the couch...
Thanks for dropping by..keep warm and keep on sparkin'

We have had close to 6 inches of new snow over the weekend! It melts down during the day but it is depressing to see how much is still on the ground from winter. At least the maple trees are starting to run so I will make some syrup.

Your meals sounded yummy today as always and two calves --that is nice. It must be hard to put them back in the paddocks while its still so cold.

It's been two weeks since we've had snow. Family came from CO and MN for the weekend and then we had rain and some hail (but after they were back on the road to CO). Last year--just about this same time--we had a family get-together and, with 26 people in my dining room, the tornado sirens went off. So, I'm really glad we had good weather while everyone was here, and they were too! emoticon

Always radiate Sunshine....

Sunday, April 07, 2013

Hi..how's your weekend?

I've had better days..hubby has been in an especially cranky mood and it's hard to stay upbeat...

Came across this quote today and love it..

"The most important decision you make is to be in a good mood"
~Vottaire

Did my usual chores and checks and gave the hungry calf a morning and evening bottle....helped hubby shovel lots and lots of snow....really got my exercise in..

My meals were..breakfast..a sunny yellow banana, oatmeal and dates/lunch a burger and salad and veggies/ supper steak, spinach salad and veggies...a brownie for dessert.

I made some packages of homemade brownie mix and this was the first time I tried one..they were yummy :)

Today there was lots of hockey on and I watched part of 2 games...visited on the phone with my neighbor and did some housework...it's just been one of those days that can't be over quick enough..another hour until the midnight cow check and then off to bed...

Hope you are all having a sunny weekend....thanks for dropping by and keep on Sparkin'

April showers brings..freezing rain...

Friday, April 05, 2013

Hi..we woke up to freezing rain and everything was coated with ice!! grrr....but the good news is we had a new calf...it's been a couple days...AND..the sun came out and melted the ice and we dodged the bullet and barely had any more new snow!!

I helped with morning chores and checks and bottle fed a calf that's not doing well. Also helped hubby chase a pair up from the bottom corrals that needed to be treated.

My sister posted some pictures of her trip to Mexico, my other sister..the oldest one sent me the news of her newest grandchild born last night :)She has 7 kids and 13 grandkids!!

After lunch I went to town for mail...hubby was wanting his cheque from selling cattle...got it and some bills and lots of magazines and newspapers....after coffee and reading some mail..we went out to start night chores and check through the pairs. I also helped hubby fork some hay to the newest pairs and some straw to rebed the school buses we use for calf shelters...go yellow :)

Todays meals were..breakfast..a yellow banana, oatmeal with dates/lunch..tuna curry and rice...it's a recipe my late mom used to make all the time...I used to make it easy by using a can of cream of celery soup, can of tuna and curry powder...but since I have been using less and less canned soup I used her scratch recipe with some stir fried onions and celery..curry powder, can of tuna, water and some milk thickened with flour. Hubby is not a big fan of tuna or rice so he had some but also some left over beans/ supper was a made from scratch thin crust ham, mushroom and green pepper pizza with homemade cherry slushie floats...my healthy snack for today was one of my homemade granola bars.

Just 2 weeks left in the 5% challenge..tomorrow is weigh in, I don't think I will be anywhere near my goal of losing 5% in this challenge...I'll just keep positive and think of all the new healthy habits I am forming...it can't always be about the weight loss..it's about healthier and happier, too.

For today's lighten up theme I want to focus on spring cleaning and lightening up my house...I really need to declutter and spring is a great time to work on that!! I have done some planning..will do my 30 bags in 30 days again although March was not too successful..instead of 31 bags I threw out around 15 to 20..but its a good start!! I found on line that Peter Walsh (one of my favorite organizers..I just loved the show "Clean Sweep" ) Has a new book out called.....Lighten Up..I have quite a few of his other books and may order this one through the library...to lighten up my spending!! There are lots of articles in my most recent magazine about decluttering and spring cleaning...I really lack the skills to keep my home the way I would like it to be....as always..too many great ideas and no time to implement them..lol I know that I just have too much and would love for my house to magically lighten up!! What are some of your favorite housekeeping hints?

Thanks for dropping by and for all your comments.. Keep on Sparkin'

What a lovely day, and a cheque too, we are always 'hanging out' for a cheque as well. Not much work about for hubby since December but we are hanging on.

We are giving the house an Autumn clean as my motto is " no work means get the house spick and span", so we've done the gardens, cleaned the venetian blinds, washed all the insides of the windows, cleaned the mats and the oven.

Next is getting out winter clothes as it will come...eventually... we are still getting 34 deg c though I feel a bit silly moaning about it when you have had blizzards...:}

Nice to know the calving has slowed a little but I guess you still need to go out at night just to keep an eye on the 'new' mums.

Lovely meals and the granola bars sound great, keep you full for a while.

Thanks for the lovely 'bright' blog, have a lovely weekend

Tell me about Spring Cleaning! I am so far behind, and haven't even put everything away from our two-month trip. Tomorrow, I will be working on laundry, washing and ironing.
Glad you had another calf and, hopefully, the little weak one will make it. I can just see you bottle-feeding it.
Wishing you more sunshine, tomorrow emoticon, and warmer temperatures emoticon
