Another month running down

Not sure how we got to the end of March already but this morning I did think I need to start walking earlier - I was pretty drenched with sweat by the time I got my hour finished.


Still working on keeping up with the exercise and getting portions under control. The scale is back out on the counter and now I just have to remember to start using it again.

The fridge is full of healthy foods and minimal snacks in pantry for RB and granddaughter. I try not to look in there and that helps.

It took me months and months to get my portions under control. Now that I have, when I over eat my stomach hurts so bad! It's kind of good because it really is a deterrent to over eating. Revamping the day

My plan was to walk for 45 minutes, have a cup of coffee, trim some more bushes, ride my bike, make a lasagna for us and a chocolate cake for our neighbors, etc.

So I started walking this morning just before 8 and as I got further from home the clouds got heavier and just as I decided to take the street that would get me even further from home I felt the first sprinkles. I got in 2o minutes and now I am spending time on the spark. I'll increase the time on the bike to make up for the decrease in the walk and I may head to Target and do some walking there if the rain keeps up.

The bushes will have to wait for another day and I hope the rain will help more of the grass turn green again.

Just remembering

Tomorrow is my father-in-law's birthday. If he were alive he would be 94 but he's been gone for 23 years now. I think of him often and of what a good man he was, how hard he worked for his family and how important his family was to him, the things he did for various churches. I always felt more like his daughter than an "in-law". He was not an overly affectionate person but you always knew where you stood with him and he loved to laugh.

I'm thinking that none of us can ask for more than to be remembered for the good things we did and how we touched other people. So, here's to Pa - a good man and a life well lived - we love you.

Dreary day with the Spark

I just got back from my walk this morning when the skies opened up and the thunder and lightning started. I went earlier than usual so that was a good thing. Since I had yard work planned for this morning I had some time to spend with the Spark and it feels good to do that! I definitely have lots of house cleaning to do but that is not as much fun as yard work but I'll get it over with as we have something scheduled for the next three days. We'll be at the weekend before I know it and at least the house will be clean.

It's dreary here as well but our precipitation is in the form of snow! I am ready for Spring and things to be green instead of brown or snow covered! Best birthday ever!

Thanks to all my Spark friends for helping to make this birthday one of the most special I have ever had! I received untold goodies and so many comments on my page I spent almost all day reading them and each one felt so sincere and heartfelt that I continue to be amazed! I wish I could thank each of you personally but I hope you will see this blog and know how appreciated your thoughts were.

RB took me out to lunch yesterday to a wonderful little seafood place and the grouper was outstanding. Our granddaughter came last night and took us to McDonalds - she insisted on using her gift card - we decided we had never had a finer meal. She also made the most wonderful card filled with coupons for hugs but the best part was she told me I could use each coupon two times!!!!!

The grown up kids are taking us out on Sunday for another celebration - how lucky can one person be???????
