Happy New Year

Wednesday, January 01, 2014

Hope all my Sparkfriends have a Happy New Year! May you all be blessed in 2014 and reach all your goals for the year!
My resolutions for the year are::
Stop exercising
Gain weight
Spend all my money

Yea I know your thinking WHAT?? Well I always give up on my New Years resolutions pretty quick and do the opposite. SO I'm doing it backwards this year and hoping I give up on them just as quick and do the opposite but if I don't well I can at least say I kept my New Years Resolutions!!!

Wow, its been awhile.

I haven't been on in about a year now but I am still on this journey and am doing ok. I have lost 50 pounds in the past year!! Could have been better but oh how good it feels! I have reached a few milestones as well and just wanted to share with my sparkfriends. I no longer have 100+ pounds to lose, the day I realized this I was soooo excited!! I have 80 pounds to go which is another milestone, I am halfway to my goal weight, woohoo! I am also 20 pounds away from onederland, I absolutely cannot wait to get there!! I passed up that stubborn weight of 240 that I always quit at 20 pounds ago and I am still going strong, seeing numbers on that scale I haven't seen in years!! I have been getting clothes out of the closet that used to be too small that I can't wear because they are too big now! Anyways I just wanted to share and to catch up, hope to get back on more here and more involved again. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and are looking forward to a great new year. I am really gonna strive to make 2014 the year I reach my goal weight, wish me luck fellow sparkers as I do all of you!

I am so glad that you got good news from the doctor. WAY TO GO!!

I have watched that video and it makes me cry with pride every time. I am not going to watch it again at work LOL

I have a hard time watching videos like that and not feeling like a total loser because I let depression and a little back/knee pain derail me.

I will work harder. Thank you!!!

Hey Sparkfriends

Saturday, November 03, 2012

Hey everyone, I am gonna be MIA for a bit. I don't have internet access at home right now and won't be on much. I will check in from time to time from the library. Will miss hearing from all of you and I am gonna have to sit out the upcoming Holiday Challenge. Really gonna miss that but unavoildable right now. In the meantime I am gonna take advantage of this hiatus to get my sleeping patterns changed. I usually get on the computer when I get home from work and am up really late so I sleep late. I really want to change that habit and become an early bird, I get much more done that way. It's hard though if I don't have time before work to resist the temptation to get on the computer. I tell myself I'm just gonna check in and get off in a few minutes but it never works that way. So I am gonna take advantage of this time and get over that habit. I will be keeping up my healthy living habits and hope to be a changed person when I return! See ya in a few!

My Empty Nest

Saturday, October 13, 2012

My son is getting married tomorrow or rather today since I am writing this in the wee hours of the morning (Saturday). Although I know I am not losing my son, but gaining a daughter. I will still see them and spend time with them but I know how people feel after they are all grown and the nest is empty. He's my youngest and the last to leave and I am not sure how I feel about that. I know I will FINALLY get to clean that room and unfortunately it will stay that way. No more having to collect those missing cups that are just ALWAYS in his room. They will always be there in the cabinet when I want a drink. No more telling him "Could you please shut the door when you come back in, it is almost winter you know!" I know I will miss these things when I come home to an empty house, and will wish I could hollar at him when all is quiet. I am used to him going away for college but this is different, this is for good. I look back on those years when they were both home and I was a single mom , struggling to get it all done. It wasn't easy and I still sometimes wonder just how I done it all. They were both active in sports and my daughter was in band all through high school so there was always something that had to be done as soon as I got home from work and then after practices it was back home, fix dinner, make sure homework was done, chores, etc and do it all over the next day. The thing is although there were many days that I felt overwhelmed and frustrated, I wouldn't trade a minute of it. I would do it all over again. I have fewer responsibilities now but I miss those days and would go back if I could. I used to long for a moment of peace and quiet but now I will be back to turning the tv on just to hear some noise, like I did while he was away at college. If I could change anything, I would take more time to play. Not worry so much about those dishes in the sink and sit down read another book to that little one with her arms full of books. I wouldn't say "In just a little bit, let me get this vacuumed" to that little boy who wanted me to play nintendo, I'd stop what I was doing and play a bit. I'd take them outside and enjoy the sunshine, go to the park and do more of those things that had to wait till I had time. I love Karen Kingsbury's book for children "Let Me Hold You Longer." It's an awesome book and describes just the way I feel. People sometimes wonder why kids get along better with grandparents. Maybe, just maybe it's because we have learned our lesson. We know just how fleeting their childhood is and we stop doing what we are doing and just take the time to play because they won't be little long and we know we must enjoy it while it lasts, I know I do. My house doesn't get cleaned while my grandkids visit, it can wait till they go home. Don't get me wrong I know parents don't have that option because your house is their home and it has to be cleaned but sometimes just stop, let it go for awhile and take time to play because before you know it, your nest will be empty too and you will have all the time you want to clean!

Wise and heartfelt words from a wonderful mom and grandmother. I'm sure your house will continue to be filled with the warmth and love of your children and grandchildren even though it may not be everyday.

Thinking of you today and congrats again to you and your son.
