I was looking at all my old weight loss material and ran across this. I want to put it here where maybe I will remember it.
I am no longer able to tell myself lies to excuse binges. In order to abstain, I keep these things in mind.
(1) I believe for today that I must compensate for my lack of food brakes by maintaining those disciplines that enable me to be moderate.
(2) For me one bite of certain carbohydrates is suicide fast or slow, because I lack psychosomatic immunity to them.
(3) I cannot indulge in negativity because it causes amnesia, and I revert to old habits.
(4) My primary responsibility is to abstain. All roles wife, mother, friend, employee-come second. If abstinence is not first, I will lose it. Everything that interferes with it must go.
(5) I never have it made. My compulsion never goes away; it waits for me to become careless or cocky.
(6) This program is tough but it is better than binging. Life at its dreariest or scariest is better than death by overeating.

I must help myself first then I can help others.

I try to live today so that tomorrow I won't be ashamed when I wake up in the morning.

Don't feel you are a martyr because you have stopped overeating.

The only real freedom a human being can ever know is doing what you ought to do because you want to do it.

You ask how can I lose this weight.

chocolate cough

Saturday, March 28, 2009

I was reading this morning and had to laugh at myself. The article said; Indulge in a square or two of chocolate to curb a cough. Researchers found that chocolate's theobromine compounds is more effective than codeine at suppressing persistent coughs without the side effects of drowsiness and constipation. I felt a cough coming on. Instead I went and fixed me a cup of chocolate raspberry coffee with two tablespoons of sugar free chocolate syrup. It was pretty good. I think I like the coffee without the syrup, splenda is good but it leaves an after taste in my mouth. I'm also trying to back off of so much artificial sweeteners.
I am finding out natural is better. I make some chocolate cupcakes a couple of weeks ago and we still have some left. Just ever so often we get one have a cup of coffee and it is enough. I am really beginning to believe all I have read about fructose. The article said that the fructose in packaged foods acts different on your brain. You do not get the signal this is enough. You just keep eating. I can buy sweets and I do not quit. But if I make them a little piece is enough. It may be true. I think I will continue to do my own baking, sweets, breads,
corn bread. I have learned the best thing is to freeze them then you can thaw out what you want.

I'll have to remember that chocolate tip!! When I have a sweet tooth I'm usually good with a mini piece of chocolate or two.

When my daughter bakes cakes or cookies I usually end up throwing some away. I guess that's a good thing!

I agree. Since joining SparkPeople I have been using some of the healthy baking tips and recipes. One muffin or slice of cake packed with healthy ingredients is definitely enough.

I always laugh when I see article that say just take a taste of this or that.Yeah. Like most of us can do that.It only takes a taste to get us started eating too much.I applaud those that can but I believe most can't.

I was reading a comment on my last blog and they were talking about butterflies and it reminded me of a story I had read once that helped me so much.
A man was trying to help a butterfly come out of his cocoon easier and he sniped off the end of the cocoon to make the opening larger. The butterfly came out with a swollen body and little wings that were no good. It crawled around like that until it died. If he man had left it alone and let it do like God intended it to do it would have work itself through the small hole with hard work and all the fluid would have been squeezed ito its wings which would have grown big, spread out and he could have flew away. Everything has a time and way to be done. In Gods time. If I need to lose at a certain pace I need to be patience. There is a process I need to go through, not too fast or easy and it will be worth it when the process is finished. I'll come out of my cocoon, spread my wings and fly. The butterfly also goes through a process when nothing is happening to the outside world but on the inside all kinds of things are happening which will end up in a beautiful butterfly.
I tell myself when there is no weight loss be patience, keep exercising, keep eating healthy, when the time is right the process will continue until it is right and the rewards with be delightful. The fat around me is a cocoon that I'm working on. I'm going to squeeze out of this fat, slow and sure and emerge the best I can be.
Deby thank you for making me remember. I looked this up in my diary. I had wrote this down in 2002. I will put it where I can see it daily so I won't lose sight of my goal. emoticon

Honey facial

Friday, March 27, 2009

If you could see me now you would laugh. I've got honey all over my face and trying to exercise and not sweat it off. Wrong way to do this. Don't exercise with it on! I did good on the walking. I had a headband on to catch the sweat. But the weight lifing I had to wipe a lot of it off it was running. I kept it on for about 1 hour. I think after my shower and I'm just working in the office I'll put some more on. I know I'm going to be beautiful. Ha! Its fun to try anyway! I'm on a kick of trying to go natural. I was trying to think of all the old remedy's I had grew up with. I remember as kids in the spring we would have to eat a lot of greens and drink sassafras tea. I can remember mother boiling the roots and it would be a pink liquid.
She would put a little honey in a cup and we would drink it everyday for about a week, I think.
It was to clean your blood. We were always healthy. I know when I was in my thirties I started breaking out in boils. A lady in the neighbor hood reminded me of the sassafras cleaning your blood and she said that's what I needed. So I did. They went away and I have never been bothered by that again. My son got a wart on his wrist and his great grandmother told him to get a little Vick's salve crush an aspirin in it, put some on the wart, put a bandage on it and do that for a week or until it was gone. It went away. You know if I had told that teenager to do that he would have never did it but since his great grandmother told him that was cool. Don't you love it. I can remember being the same way as a teenager. Always would listen to anybody but my parents. They could tell me the same thing.
Its spring and I am having a nostalgia spell. My dad always picked spring violets and brought to my mom. He never bought mother flowers but he did that for over 50 years. They are both gone now but I have some sweet memories.
I'm rambling again. Oh well that s what's so nice about blogging. You can be yourself.
I started Monday taking one tablespoon of honey mixing it with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon , making a paste like and putting it on 1/2 of a bagel. I like Kim's bagels. They are low in calories. They say cinnamon and honey cures most of the diseases. I read it was good for the heart. It reduces the cholesterol in the arteries. Regular use of it relieves loss of breath and strengthens the heart beat. In America and Canada various nursing homes have treated patients successfully and have found that as you age, the arteries and veins lose their flexibility and get clogged; honey and cinnamon revitalizes the arteries and veins. This is some of the things that was listed that honey and cinnamon help, bladder infections, toothache, cholesterol, colds, upset stomach, gas, immune system, indigestion, influenza, longevity, pimples, skin infections, weight loss, cancer, fatigue, bad breath. Sparkpeople we need to start taking a dose of this. If it is true we will all be doing great.
I think I am a sweet-a-holca. You know what I mean. And maybe 1 t. of honey will keep me from craving sweets so bad. We'll see. It sure won't hurt. I have got to get up from here and go ride my bike and fix lunch. Nice chatting with you.

I had a boil and read about using turmeric to clean the blood. I had some on food but also took it in capsules and sure enough, it helped within about 2 weeks and no side effects!
