The quest for 16 glasses begins....

Monday, September 14, 2009

The BLC Challenge is a water challenge.... You get one point for each 8oz glass of water that you drink up to 16 glasses in a day (we don't need anyone getting water poisoning - yes, it's a real condition!)

So here's the real challenge... I don't get 8 glasses of water usually in a day.... how am I going to double that?!?!?!

The Mission... drink 16 eight ounce glasses of water a day.
The Plan... drink 1 glass of water for each hour you are awake. If you sleep for 8 hours and there are 24 hours in a day, then you'll get 16 glasses...
The Snag... POLYUREA (peeing a lot!)

So today I got off to a great start with our challenge... I got up at 4am and had a glass of water. Then another at 5:15 before leaving for work. Then had another at 6:15 when I got to work. Then it started. I had to pee. It's ok, let's decide if you need to pee, you should drink 4 ounces of water before going and 4 ounces when you get back, that will get another glass in (in addition to the 1 glass per hour). Ok, so I had to stop this at about noon. By noon I had 12 glasses of water in.... LOL That means I only had 4 glasses to drink by the end of the day. (and my co-workers think that I have a stomach virus or something because I've been running to the bathroom every 1/2-1 hour!) I added the drinking the water when I went to the bathroom because we were so busy that I figured I would forget to drink my water. (But I didn't!)

The good thing is that I have a bathroom about 20 feet from my desk. We'll see what tomorrow brings! LOL

Needless to say, I got 16 glasses in today for 16 points! emoticon

Good luck with the quest. I am hoping that by the end of the week to hit the 16. I plan to up my water intake by 2 glasses each day to finally get to 16. I force myself to get 8 so it is going to be a big challenge.

14 glasses is about all I have ever been able to do. I think I hit 18 one day, but that was a fluke. I am trying to get at least 10 a day with a goal of 16. Congratulations on accomplishing your goal yesterday. That's awesome!! emoticon emoticon

wow, good luck with that. 16 glasses is way too much for me too! I would never sleep, I would always be in the bathroom. Keep up the good work!

Haha! That's awesome. I have a new rule since I haven't been drinking my water that if I didn't drink my 8 glasses yesterday, I can't have my coffee today. And I looove my coffee. My coworkers also wonder where I go every 45 minutes since the bathroom is in the other building!

I can manage 8 but 16 is out of my range

emoticonI hope your coworkers are giving you lots of sympathy about your "stomach virus"!

I routinely drink about 4 liters of water a day. I don't always remember to track it all but I usually drink nearly two of those 2-liter bottles of spring water. That's how I get my exercise ~ my office is at the opposite of the building from the bathroom! I put in plenty of mileage with all my trips! (I looked for an emoticon of a little person with her knees crossed but couldn't find one.)

Good luck on your challenge. Drinking plenty of water makes me feel better AND makes sure I lose more weight by flushing (pun intended) the toxins from my body.

The most I've ever drank is 14 glasses. But I might give it a try tomorrow. Good job and hope it helps in your weight loss.

OMG! 6.5lbs!

Sunday, September 13, 2009

I stepped on the scale this morning (dreading every second) and I lost 6.5lbs! I stepped off the scale and stepped back on just to confirm the reading. I couldn't believe it. I still can't believe it. I don't feel that I've done anything different this week than I did for the past 3 weeks that I've been struggling. I will really have to sit down and compare the nutrition trackers from the past few weeks. The only thing I can think of is that my body is actually starting to catch up. I'm so excited. And I must confess that this morning I was feeling "fat" (I know it's a bad word but that's how I was feeling!). I didn't want to step on the scale, I thought about dropping out of BLC because I didn't want to bring the team down... It's funny how a few numbers can affect your entire mood for a day or even a week. And I know it's not the number that count, it's the journey but those numbers carry so much importance to us! So now the challenge is how to keep it going....

My apologies goes to Kimmers05. I accidently deleted her comment (and I don't know how or if I can get it back!)

Don't worry, I'm not quitting BLC. I don't think I could do it without all my SP friend's support!

Thanks!

congratulations with your weight-loss. Just keep doing what your doing and let it just happen. I have decided not to get on the scale because that plateau I am on is just driving me nuts. So I will wait til my next weigh in at WW to know if I dropped any weight.

Congratulations! Keep to your plan and you'll reach your goals.

Don't rely on the scale too much as a weight loss tool. I prefer to use my scale as a journaling tool. Each week and month will be different. If you are practicing healthy habits, your scale will reflect your success.

Ho-Hum day...

Saturday, September 12, 2009

Not really having a motivating day. Not really sad, not really happy, not really wanting to do much of anything today. It's been raining for 3 days now (I live near the shore in NJ and we got hit by a tropical depression and it rained inches in hours and we had tornado watches too). Today it's not raining too much just still really cloudy. I hate it when it rains on my saturdays off. I guess I should be happy that I can stay home and do some housework but that just doesn't happen. I end up watching tv, being lazy, and thinking about all the things I should be doing.... I'm going to get off the computer now and make it a point to get something done today. I think I'll start with laundry....

Birthdays....

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Today was my best friend's birthday so we went out to PF Changs in Atlantic City. I did ok but ate more than I intended. We split a bunch of appetizers, I chose the brown rice over the white (so that was a good choice at least) and then I had Spicy Chicken. We finished off with dessert but it was the little double shot glasses of dessert. I made sure I didn't drink my calories and stuck to water. I offered to be the DD for the evening (I'm not a big drinker anyway and like I said, it's empty calories.)

I'm so tired I think I'm going to bed. I will log and participate more tomorrow....

Thank you

Tuesday, September 08, 2009

Thanks to everyone for their encouragement. I am better today. Yesterday I stayed within my healthy eating range and was feeling a little better by the end of the day. Today I've been on SP planning my meals and cooking. I'm working this evening so I need to cook my dinner and take it with me so I can microwave it at work. I'm back to being motivated and my knee is feeling great. Of course it's supposed to rain this week and I won't get to a bicycle ride this week. Looks like I'll have to use the Wii Fit this week for my cardio!

Another thing, I read somewhere that if you are feeling down or angry or not quite right that you should get up, do your makeup and hair and wear a nicer outfit than you would normally wear. This will make you feel better and "special" for that day. I'm doing that today. I don't normally wear makeup or if I do it's just mascara and lipgloss. Today I'm going for the whole thing. Using the straight iron on my hair and putting on full makeup with foundation and all. I'm hoping that will boost my mood and make me feel even better.
