Just another day in paradise!

At least I wish I was in paradise. I'm feeling like I need a vacation. Not from my routine. I'm loving that I'm on a losing streak and I find myself actually looking forward to the gym each day. I mean a vacation from work. Or at least I'm finding that I need something to look forward to and/or count down towards. When we made the decision that Jeff would stay home with the kids and we'd sell our house, we knew that month to month bills would be tight... and they are. We do live pay check to pay check. We knew that we'd not be able to go on a trip or vacation this year. In anticipation of that we got discounted tickets to our state amusement park- so we'd feel like we had something to do on the weekends with the kids. Now all I can think of is a vacation. Maybe we can do a cheap roadtrip. I do get hotel stays for free- but it's gas, etc. in getting there. Ah well... I'll just keep thinking about that...

Yesterday was kinda a carb heavy day for me. I had wheat pasta for lunch and rice with dinner. It's not often that I eat that many carbs. Today will be more veggie/fruit friendly. I'm doing better with my water intake. And another success for the day- even though the scale went up, it wasn't by much... and... I didn't freak out about it! That was my biggest fear with weighing daily. I know that your weight can fluctuate every day, but I was worried about how it would impact my overall outlook. I'm totally fine! I'm still doing good! I'm down 23 pounds total on this journey and more importantly, my lifestyle has changed! I feel good! I'm looking forward to my workouts! Life is great!

    You have an awesome attitude about your weight loss! Congrats on all you've lost so far. As for planning a vacation, maybe you could gear up for a 5K or something like that. They're pretty cheap and would give you something to count down to. Just an idea... it's something I'm doing... Planning on jogging the Color Run in September and it's really pumping me up. emoticon emoticon

    I think it's awesome that your hubby stays home with the kids. It must suck though. No vacay emoticon Amusement parks are so fun though so at least you guys do have that!

And you are killing it on the eating right and losing train! I bet the gain was just due to water weight because of the extra carbs. I bet it will be back down in no time. Keep up the hard work! It's worth it!

Sundays

I've mentioned this sooo many times, but here I am again. Sundays are the hardest days for me. My gym is only open 10-5 on Sundays and I usually work 9-6. It's by far always my least productive day workout wise. But without fail, it always ends up being my busiest day work wise, as it's the prep day for my entire week and I have lots of reports to run, etc. I walked for my full lunch break yesterday and only managed about 5K steps for the entire day. I didn't eat all of my calories, I was about 800 short. So I was worried that this may have stalled the scale this morning. But again was surprised by the number. I guess eating lower calories on my less productive day is actually a good thing. This weighing daily thing is really motivating me to stay on track! Here's to a great week!

    Maybe, you can make Sundays your rest days since you are always so busy. And yeah, just eat a little less on those days since you aren't working out. Looks like you are doing great though. Just emoticon !

Cheesecake...

So yesterday I did pretty good. I avoided nachos and cake at the birthday party. Then I got to book club. I had one small glass of white wine. Then........ I had cheesecake. Lovely. Velvety. Goodness. I. Love. Cheesecake. It put me over my calories, I knew as I was eating it and was thinking to myself "this is totally putting me over my calories for the day". Did I stop eating it? Nope. I ate it. I loved it. It was good. In the moment, that's all that mattered. It tasted good. So, I woke up this moring with regret. I was so worried about stepping on the scale. In the back of my mind I know I had pushed myself hard at the gym, but part of me just really believed that cheesecake putting me over my calories erased all my hard work. So hesitantly I stepped on and I was so surprised to see what I saw. I was happy with my number. By no means does this success mean that I get to eat cheesecake each day. But it does give me the realization that, it's okay to have a small treat from time to time. It's not going to be the end of the world.

    emoticon We went to the Cheesecake Factory last week and just got a cheesecake to bring home. I too love cheesecake. Everything about it. I had two bites a day and it lasted for about 4 days. It's okay to enjoy the things you love. Just moderation and make sure you keep moving. You're doing great!!! emoticon

    Glad you were able to enjoy your favorite and still be okay with the result. We have to learn how to do exactly what you did. Make a choice and find a way to make that choice work in our journey.
Went to the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate a friends birthday. Had a delicious meal from their lower calorie menu. Really good btw. Cheesecake was ordered to share. I am not a dessert person and don't overly go for sweets but it was cheesecake after all. I decided I could have one bite and be happy and so I did. I went home and honestly tracked my meal. One bite, hrm? Okay, 0.1 of a serving. OMG. That one bite was 84 calories!
Yes, that will be only an occasional treat.

Bread!

I went bread crazy yesterday. I don't eat bread often. So, after getting some bagels for a gathering yesterday, I ate 3 plus cream cheese. I seriously bread binged. It was my dinner. I was still within my calories, as I had a really good burn in the morning at the gym. But still, I was worried to step on the scale this morning. But I was happy to see that the scale went down and not up. I've seem to have found my stride lately. I'm sure it's because of the extra effort I'm putting in at the gym and all the water I've been chugging!

Off to the gym I go! I've got a family birthday party today for my husbands grandmothers 85th. After that I have book club.... and I didn't get the book read- but I'm still excited to go hang out with friends. Today is going to have it's challenges (food wise) but I'm determined to make it a great day!
