So- some of you may now- I sit at a computer all day long at my job. On a busy day, I may go nearly all day without moving.... which is totally not healthy! There may be days when I have back to back meetings, with little time in between. My co-managers are pretty much the same. Work all day, without taking a break for yourself. This is not healthy. As a company we are always promoting health and wellness for our associates. I am continuously reminding my employees who work at home to get up and walk on their scheduled breaks. I woke up this morning with the thought that I am not following my own advice. So I started my day very determined to make a change. Not only for myself, but hopefully for my co-managers as well. I took the initiative. Schedule in two 15 minute walk breaks per day and bring a healthy home made lunch each day. I have challenged my co-managers to do the same. Of the 7 I have invited to join me, I have already heard back from 5 of them- all on board! Of the last two, I'm pretty sure one is a yes. The other one is a tricky one. She may be willing to walk each day, but I doubt she'd be willing to bring a healthy home made lunch. But hey, you can't win them all.
I am very excited. With how many hours I work each day- and the little movement- exercise is key! And having some great support at work will only help me stay motivated, on-track and accountable.
