Week 6 Weigh In

Wednesday, May 26, 2010

I lost another 2 lbs this week which puts me at 16.2 total. I certainly can't complain about that at all.

I'm very happy the my wife joined up too! Now we can lose weight together! My sister is also on here as well, between the 3 of us we've got about 300+ pounds to lose. It will be fun watching that come off.

I've definitely picked up the exercise a little. I'm trying to walk at least 5 miles a week. If I walk Monday-Friday I go for a mile. If I walk on the weekends I go for 2 miles so I don't think it's asking much to get up off my duff and walk a total of 5 miles in a week.

I'm definitely feeling better physically, and mentally. I go for my first physical in about 20 years in about a week. I'm both nervous and excited to get through all that and make sure I don't have things like diabetes, or asthma and to get my cholesterol and triglycerides under control.

I'm truly tired of being fat!!!! I don't want to be embarrassed when we go to a pool and I've got to take my shirt off to chase after my daughter. I want to look normal. Of course I wouldn't mind being ripped, but that takes hours in the gym and I just don't have that motivation right now. I just want to get healthy!

I know I'll do it with the help of SparkPeople, but most importantly I'll succeed with the help of my wife and family.

Keep on kicking a$$ guys! WE CAN DO IT!!!!

Great work, and glad your wife has joined you!

I went for a physical after loosing 80 pounds.

The Doctor said, "Why are you hear?"

I said, "I lost 85 pounds over the last year."

Doctors mouth dropped open.

I said, "No, it was planed through diet and exercise."

Doctor said, "Good, 'cause if you lost 85 pounds to Cancer over the last year I was going to say get your house in order."

He did a pile of test to check out everything. Every thing came back great. Hopefully your exam will show similar improvement, perhaps not quite so grand, as I had arrived at target, you are on you way.

NE1 have a manzier?!?!

Friday, May 21, 2010

Ok, so today I was really motivated and I actually got up out of bed and grabbed the 3 S's (shirt, shoes and shorts, not in that order) and went out for a walk. About 3 minutes into it I got brave and decided I would make an attempt at jogging. 'Attempt' being the operative word.

My big results.... I made it a whole minute! WOW!!! Talk about a marathon!!! I'm glad that there wasn't anybody out at 530 in the morning cuz they would have had some footage fit for America's Funniest Home Videos! I've got 2 black eyes now from getting hit in the face with my MOOBS!!!!! (For those of you that don't know what a 'moob' is, it's a man boob) I gotta hand it to the ladies... I feel sorry for you! That chunk of sidewalk will never be the same....between my gargantuan feet pounding on the pavement and my moobs smacking the ground... there's some damage.

As if that wasn't bad enough I decided that it would be fun to jog down the home stretch, I made it about another minute and a half... again moobs flapping in the breeze like a kite! Thank god it wasn't windy or I might have lifted off!

All kidding aside... it felt pretty crappy jogging, but it's something that I should try and do a little more of. I don't want to push it right now, just want to do a little at a time.

I'm motivated right now as of this very moment to do it again tomorrow, but we'll have to see what tomorrow brings. In the mean time if anyone knows where I can get a manzier, let me know! LOL!!!

Take care, have a great weekend!!!

If you can run for a minute, you should try the C25K program. I went from being able to run for about 30 seconds at a time to running 5K in 9 weeks. As far as the moobs, I feel for you. I've got some small problems in that area myself. But, not exercising isn't going to help me get rid of them, so I just say screw it and go out and do what I need to do...for me. Good luck and keep on going!

You think that's bad, wait until you lose the stomach while keeping the moobs. My daughter gave me a tee shirt that said "Man Boobs Are Sexy" Eventually they will go too.

Good going on the run! I admire your efforts, keep up the training bro :)

Ok, now that I've finished howling and drying my tears, here's a legitimate suggestion for your, ummmm, situation. Get a nike dri-fit compression t-shirt. Being a compression shirt, it will feel really tight and you may feel uncomfortable wearing it alone but I dare say it will keep the "moobs" reigned in. And if you get the dri-fit, you should be able to wear a more loosely fitting t-shirt over it without overheating.

There is a downside though, if you think its hard getting a compression shirt on, wait till you sweat it up and try to take it off!

Thats how we all started. Here a little, there a little, an a few changes followed by consistent applying these changes and you never know, you might end up in danger of becoming a runner.

Good effort. You should be aware, that you may run into someone even at that time. I typically run between 10:30 p.m and 6:00 a.m. No, not for 8 hours. I start my run somewhere in that range. My point is I am constantly surprized by find people out and about at those hours, and it is not all that unususal to see other runners.

I need to get up and move!

Thursday, May 20, 2010

Ok, so the last 3 days I have got up around 5:15am to do a little WII FIT step program. Out of the 3 days, guess how many times I actually did the program?!?! 1! I get up all psyched up and ready to fire up the WII and I come downstairs and park my big A$$ in front of the computer.

I wish it was a little lighter out in the morning cuz I'd probably go for a walk, but I just don't seem to have the devotion to get out there and move. I don't have any problems with the food, I'm staying within my ranges without any issues, I am drinking more than 8 cups of water a day, I haven't had a soda in 5 weeks, and I've lost almost 15 lbs. It's just that I can't seem to fit that one more piece of the puzzle into my routine.

I want to start a streak of walking every day, but I need something to push me out the door and make me walk.

I think if I can get this going and do it every day for a few weeks I'll be more inclined to do it..

Maybe I need to start the couch to 5k program!?! I haven't run 3 miles since I was in high school and I don't even want to think about how long ago THAT was. I'll get there, and when I get on the exercise kick I'll get even better results!

im thinking of doing the couch thing too, I used to run a lot but had to stop because of the chemo but since its not working, who cares, lol. Just think, doing the walking will earn ya sparkpoints, so a motivator right there. I get up at 345 and go to the gym, of couse I walk for 30 minutes before the gym opens, lol. Come on, you can do it. Tomorrow Im gonna check and see if ya walked, if I can do it with cancer and work and take care of an elderly father, so can you!

The computer was a BIG problem for me too! I was addicted! I bribed myself in the beginning, I told myself I had to work out FIRST then I could have computer time. Now, I'm rarely on. I am usually so tired at midnight when I get home from work I go right to bed. I wake up in the morning, work out, come home and eat, then get ready for work, so I don't have much time anyway. It's a hard habit to kick, but you can do it! If Mikayla has a bike maybe you should get one and ride together or just take her for a walk. Maybe look into finding an exercise bike or treadmill! emoticon emoticon

Week 5 Weigh In

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

I had a much better weigh in this week than I thought I was going to have. I stuck with the calories and stuff, just had a feeling that it wasn't going to be good. I was pleasantly surprised that I lost another 2.4 pounds! WOO HOO!!!

That makes a total of 14.2 pounds in 5 weeks! I couldn't be happier with those numbers. I can see the difference and feel the difference already. I've been exercising more than usual (heck, just exercising once a month is more than usual) and I don't feel that bad afterwards. Granted I'm not doing anything like an aerobics class, but I'm gonna just stick with some walking and the occasional WII FIT until I get into the 10% loss realm (about 27lbs).

I also go to the doctor June 3rd so I don't want to get to crazy with exercise until I get the OK from the doc.

I've never been so sure that I was going to get to my goals before, I've tried to lose weight many many times. Mt wife and I did Weight Watchers before our daughter was born and I had lost about 56lbs. Once my wife got pregnant, I put it all back on, and then some! I was on SparkPeople a few years ago and stuck around for a while, then hit a plateau and faded away and within 3 or 4 weeks gained all the weight back. I'm NOT going to do that this time. I WILL SUCCEED!!!

I'm not going to let anything get in my way so if there are any obstacles out there that plan on hosing up my progress, ya better back your A$$ up or prepare to get flattened out like a pancake!!!! THIS MEANS YOU MR. FAT!! You're going down, and you're gonna go down hard! (Do I hear the Rocky theme somewhere?!?!) When I'm done I'm gonna 'eat lightning and crap thunder!' Well... I'm 'gonna fly now!'

Take care fellow SparkPeople, keep on keepin' on, and don't stop moving!!!
